She sighed. "It's alright. You're trying to help me. Better than either of or species would do. We haven't found a way to make enough to support a population, but our suits are equipped to deal with small amounts of hazardous gas, so I can say that the atmosphere is toxic?"
(ack, sorry! It didn't let me know you responded)
"That might work, until they develop better suits or equipment⦠It is no use worrying about it now, we can figure it out after we repair your ship. Speaking of which, I have the rest of the day off now, so I can work on it a bit. The garage is fairly secluded, but also very dangerous, so if you want to come with me, you have to be very careful. And the translator will not work out there." Allyanna said, forcing a smile.
Al shrugged "Why not" she responded. She figured there was no real reason not to.
Allyanna nodded. "Alright, follow me. If you need anything, make two loud noises in quick succession. Otherwise, I will likely just ignore your speaking, as I will not understand it." Allyanna said, leading Al out a different door.
Al nodded, following along. She kept her head relatively down, watching Allyannas step
Allyanna opened a door, and a garage similar to ones you would find on earth was on the other side, completely filled with Al's wrecked ship. Allyanna went in.
Al followed, stopping against a wall, far from her ship as she marvelled in horror at the wreckage of her ship
Allyanna, seeing Al's expression, nodded, saying something in her language, hesitating, and saying "bad?" She had been studying the translator's data.
She nodded vigorously, eyes full of fear and panic
Allyanna reached out her hands to Al, trying to calm her. She said something in her own language, pointing inside questioningly.
She nodded, hands palpably shaking once Allyana got hold of them, yet frozen in place
Allyanna picked Al up, struggling a bit. She floated Al, just a bit, allowing for easier carrying,.and bringing her back into the living room. "Hey, it is alright. You are safe. Can you count to ten for me?"
Al did as told, almost robotically. She still seemed far off, but following orders seemed to be drilled into her like it was her design. She spoke at a normal volume, but her tone was completely militaristic
This freaked Allyanna out, and she squeezed Al's hand. "Al, I need you to come back. Al, you are safe, I need you to be present here. Al, do you want some water?"
As if a switch had flipped, Al smiled at Allyana. She was normal again "Sorry.." She said sheepishly
Allyanna sighed. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah" she replied. Al sounded just as normal. "I just.. went back for a while."
Allyanna nodded. "I am sorry, I should have known. You do not have to see the ship again."
"You had no idea of knowing. It wasn't the crash I went back to" She replied reassuringly, taking Allyanna's hand
Allyanna smiled lightly, but still looked worried. "I can wait to work on the ship.. are you hungry?" She asked, wanting to stay with Al.
"Not really" She responded gently. It was clear she wasn't used to denying offers
Allyanna hummed. "Okay. Do you want to just⦠Sit?" She asked, sitting next to Al.
Al just nodded, clearly embarrassed by her episode. It was obvious through her demeanor during and after, she had been through something major. The type of thing that drills a person's mind and changes them completely. Most likely some kind of military service, judging by the way she counted to ten, and how embarrassed she was afterwards.
"Do⦠You want to talk about it?" She asked kindly. "I can listen."
"The Marines" was all she said. It came through the translator afterwards as "Humanitarian Sea-faring Soldier; Elite branch of the Navy; Sea faring soldiers"
Allyanna blinked. "Military. I think you have mentioned that before. Did you serve for long?" She asked kindly.
"I served a full term. I'm not sure how long that is here, but its six years on my planet" She replied. She seemed wistful now. The military wasn't all bad, and it had plenty of good times. The ship most likely triggered the memory of a bad one. "Basic training is 13 weeks on Earth too."
"Did you like it? It sounds like you enjoyed serving. But bad things must have happened tooβ¦" Allyanna thought aloud.
She nodded immediately. "I was a soldier, course bad things happened. But it was nice when thing were calm. As nice as the military can get, I guess"
