howdy, partner! I've been grinding gears on a big overhaul for my characters and I started a rework for one of them and found her religious ideals to be a bit of a confusing process? I was hoping I could explain the Situation and get some other brain bubbles or even just a place for me to start.
So for context, my character Zara was a young black girl in America from 1950s to late 1960s, and after going on a short trip with her parents she was bitten by a ✨vampire✨-like creature while her parents were attacked and killed. She ran away and lived out a couple orbit parties not knowing what she had turned into but knowing she had to eat flesh and human syrup or she would strave and rot away. I've always thought as a human she would be Christian, but now that I'm doing a rework and doing more research on this I find two things stumping me:
What branch of Christianity would fit her demographic the most and how would her beliefs be challenged as she goes from a normal girl to needing to each flesh and surivive all alone? I can imagine its very hard for her, I know in the future she comes to terms with her state and is able to live a normal-ish life, but how would she get to that point? Is it more likey she stays religious or rejects her beliefs?
I'm not religious, so I find myself less informed then I thought I would be as well as it being a little bit of a hard concept to wrap my head around to write a character with these struggles…any brain bubbles? If you need me to answer some questions I'm happy to!
