"I wasnt being serious. Can you heal it? Because as far as my studies say, there isnt a way to fix it"

"Uhm….. Does glowing heal other creatures?" He asked, thinking.

"Not that I know of"

"Oh.. then no, I can't.."

"Sometimes things just have to happen" He sighed, patting Ash's head.

Ash looked sad, his wings and antenna sinking, the glow dimming.

"I'm sorry Ash. It is what it is" Nikias sighed.

"Will you make him comfortable for the rest of his life, and give him a proper burial when he's gone?"

"yeah, i've been keeping him comfortable… and I will give him a proper burial once I am done with my research"

"What is research? You've mentioned it a few times.."

"its where I study something or uh learn about it and look at it and figure out how it works I guess"

"Oh. I like learning!" He said, brightening again.

"It is not something I think you would enjoy"

"Oh- why not?" He asked, curious.

"I have to cut open the snake after it dies"

"Oh- will it hurt the snake?!?" He asked, worried.

"no, the snake will be dead"

"But will it hurt the snake? I've never been dead before, and neither have you. What if the snake can still feel pain after it's dead?"

"Trust me, it cant. Ive dealt with plenty of dead things" he shook his head.

"Are you certain? You have to promise!"

"I am certain. I promise" he chuckled softly.

"Can you learn how to keep future snakes alive by taking apart that one when it's dead?"

"Yeah, it will teach me why it died so I can prevent it from happening again"

"Oh, okay." He said, not upset anymore.

Nikias smiled slightly, "I try to keep anything special alive for as long as I can"

"And you make them comfortable?" He asked, making sure.

"I try my best to" he nodded.

"Okay.." he was still a bit sad, but he was considerably less sad then before.
