Ariella jumped back as he suddenly shot up. She reached out to touch him but thought better of it. "Amyntas? You're with me, with Ella. No one is hurting you, you're safe here." She would kill anyone that tried to hurt him.
Ariella jumped back as he suddenly shot up. She reached out to touch him but thought better of it. "Amyntas? You're with me, with Ella. No one is hurting you, you're safe here." She would kill anyone that tried to hurt him.
He looks at her, wide eye’d. He blinks a couple of times, then slowly calms down. He bites his lip, then sighs. “Sorry-“ He lays back down, going silent.
Ariella gave him a sad smile. "You don't need to apologize to me. I get bad dreams too, old memories I can never seem to forget. Do you want to talk about it?"
She sighs, “No…” He mumbles. “I don’t want you getting ideas…” He immediately regretted those words, sucking in a breath. Too late now…
Ariella blinked in surprise. "Ideas? What do you mean by that?" Her eyes were drawn in confusion. Her only ideas were about how to help him.
He shakes his head. “Nothing…go back to sleep…”
Ariella sighed. She would let him have this then. Sje wouldn't pressure him to talk. She knew what that was like being forced to talk about memories she didn't want to revisit. She laid back down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She wasn't going back tj bed now. "Whats your favorite color?"
He sighs, “I said go back to sleep…not ask foolish questions…”
"Well, deal with it." She said matter of factly. "You're the one who wanted me here so now you're going to put up with me. So indulge me. What's you're favorite color?"
He sighs softly, “Purple and green…”
Ariella smiled, looking at him. "Good colors. What about hobbies?"
He grumbles, “I’ve given up on hobbies…”
"Then we'll find you some knew ones." Ariella sighed softly. This was going ti be harder than she thought.
He huffs, “Rather not risk my life…I have to be aware of my surroundings.” It seemed like he was in a constant state of contradiction, because the next thing he said, completely threw off his first point. “Though it wouldn’t matter anyways…I’m already slowly dying…”
"Well I'm here to make sure that doesn't happen." She wasn't going to let him die. Not if she had a say in it. "We'll find you new hobbies."
Amyntas sighs, “I don’t want new hobbies…it’s useless…”
"Its not useless." Ariella pushed. "You're going to live long enough to use them."
Amyntas shakes his head, silent.
"You will." Ariella insisted
Amyntas sighs, moving away from her.
Ariella sighed and flopped over on her side. She wanted to go back to sleep.
Amyntas stays awake for the rest of the night, silent.
It took over an hour of tossing and turning before Ariella could find sleep again. It was full of old memories she longed to forget but she didn't wake until the morning came.
When morning came, Amyntas was still awake in bed. He stayed there, silent for most of the day. Even when Ella woke, he stayed quiet. If you didn’t look at his face, you’d think he was in a deep sleep.
Ariella woke out of her sleep with a deep inhale. She sat up in bed and rubbed at her eyes, trying to banish the thoughts, the memories from her head. She could almost feel the knife slicing her skin open if she thought hard enough.
Amyntas doesn’t look at her, staying silent. He could understand her pain. He could feel exactly what she felt. Damnit…don’t get attached…idiot… He closes his eyes, pretending to be asleep. Don’t be stupid.
Ariella took a few deep breaths, palms pushing the tears out of her eyes. She gave herself a moment to compose herself before looking down at Amyntas with a fake smile.
Amyntas stays quiet, trying his best to pretend he was asleep. Don’t get attached…damnit you stupid piece of garbage-
Ariella sighed softly to herself and swung her legs off the bed. He was asleep, or at least pretending to. She would leave him be for now. She went to the bathroom, leaving it ajar open, and splashed her face. She was trying to forget but it wasn't working. She wished she had some wine. Wine made her feel better.
Amyntas stays in bed, hiding his face under the covers. He had this overwhelming urge to help this poor girl. But he shouldn’t. It would only make him more attached to her. He didn’t want to go through that again. He couldn’t experience that heartbreak again.
