Kokichi was sitting casually on the support beam for the room of a warehouse "hello detective~"

Shuichi glanced at Kokichi as he finally approached him. Why was he just sitting there like he was, and why did he seem so calm about everything that was going on? It was certainly interesting, even for someone who viewed all of their actions as a game. He wasn't even trying to create a chase. All he was doing was trying to talk to him.

"What do you want?" he asked after a moment. "Clearly something if you're sticking around."

"just wanted to see you, is that so wrong that you sound hostle with me"

Shuichi sighed softly at the response that he was given. He hadn't meant to sound so hostile towards him, but he was confused and honestly stressed from other parts of his work and exhausted due to all of that. It was likely the reason for the unintentional hostility in his tone.

"No, no, I just wanted to know…" he responded softly. "I didn't mean to sound so hostile…"

Kokichi went to say something, but he'd leaned to far forward and started falling.

Shuichi immediately rushed to Kokichi's side and grabbed his arm to prevent him from falling. While it just seemed like he was just trying to prevent him from dying so he could arrest him, that was far from his reason to save him. He did care a lot about the thief, although he didn't know why he did care so much about him.

With a little bit of effort, he did end up pulling Kokichi back to the top, back to stable ground that he could stand on. He was already concerned about the thief due to the fact that he almost died, but now he had to make sure that he was alright. Almost dying was what most would consider a rather traumatic experience.

"Are you alright?" he asked softly as he pulled Kokichi into a hug.

"yeah.." Kokichi whispered, holding tightly to Shuichi

Shuichi held Kokichi close to him as he responded. He was aware that the thief was likely traumatized from everything that happened, and all he wanted to do was provide him with comfort so he didn't have to suffer for too much longer. He just wanted to calm him down.

"Would you like to go back to my place…?"

"p..please.." he whispered

Shuichi nodded in response, but before he could lead Kokichi anywhere, in the corner of his eye, he spotted another phantom thief, this time one with green hair. Before he could do anything or really process the other thief's presence, he noticed that he was running up to them. It seemed likely that he worked with Kokichi.

"What happened here?" he asked softly as he saw Kokichi. "Is this the detective you're in love with?"

Shuichi blushed a bit at the comment. "I-in…in love with…?" he questioned before shaking his head. "N-never mind… T-to explain…th-this…um, well…h-he almost…fell… I-I…um, I managed…to save him…"

Due to being embarrassed by the comment and his general social anxiety, he ended up stuttering a fair bit while he was speaking, and his face remained red. However, Rantaro didn't seem to mind this. All the detective did notice was that he seemed concerned, but that made sense since he just explained that Kokichi had almost fallen off the building to his death.

"Ah, so that's what happened, huh?" he asked, his tone surprisingly calm. He looked at Kokichi before looking at Shuichi. "Both of you should head home. Just lead the way to your place. I'll carry him. Seriously, Detective, I can tell that you're exhausted, and my partner is likely traumatized. It's best if you both leave."

Shuichi didn't argue with that as he handed Kokichi over to Rantaro. Once the other picked him up, he began to lead the two back to his house. Luckily no other detectives had been around, so if asked, Shuichi could just say that Kokichi got away. He never had to mention Rantaro's presence since he didn't seem to be known about. Maybe things would be alright after they got home.

Kokichi was shaking in Rantaro's arms, his head tucked into the others neck. " I'm sorry.. I wasnt paying attention"

Rantaro shook his head at the apology. He really didn't see a reason for the other to apologize for what happened since it was clearly nothing more than an accident. He wasn't able to be upset with him over something like that, and he would never be able to. Everything wasn't meant to happen, so there was no need to be sorry about it.

"It's not your fault. Everyone has moments where they aren't paying attention. It's alright…" he responded softly. "What matters is that you're still alive. That detective was quick to get to you, and it's kind of impressive. I can see why you love him. I care about you, which means that I care about him, so I'll make sure that both of you are alright."

"you care about me? Why? I'm mean to you.."

Rantaro sighed softly at the response that Kokichi gave him. He seriously questioned why he cared about him when they had been friends for most of their lives? He knew that Kokichi was playfully mean, and that never changed his opinion of him. Besides, as of recently, he realized that he had fallen in love with him as well.

"Kokichi, we've been friends since we were kids," he reminded him. "Of course I care about you, whether you're jokingly mean to me or not."

"thank you.." Kokichi said softly " I don't see how you can stand me"

Rantaro gave Kokichi a small smile when he thanked him, although he didn't see the other needed to thank him for something as simple as friendship. He had been friends with the other for so long, and of course he cared a lot about him due to that. Besides, while he would never admit it, he truly had fallen in love with him.

"Kokichi, you're always going to be my best friend," he responded softly. "You're a good person, y'know? Don't you even argue with me saying that you're a thief. You think that I'm a good person, and I'm a thief, too. You're actually really nice, despite what you may think."

"you sound like your crushing " he teased

Rantaro shook his head to deny the accusation. He seemed to be pretty calm, but he was secretly beginning to get a bit embarrassed since Kokichi seemed to notice his crush on him quickly. It had only developed a little while ago, and yet, he already figured it out, although he would never tell him that.

"I'm not!" he denied. "You're just my best friend."

"defensive people are lying people."

Rantaro shook his head again at the comment, although he knew that Kokichi definitely caught on to the fact that he was lying. He was basically a human lie detector with how often he lied, so it was obvious that he would have seen right through his lies denying that he had a crush on him. Even so, he was going to continue to deny the fact since he wasn't ready to admit it yet.

"I'm telling the truth, Kichi," he argued. "I'm not lying to you."

Kokichi rolled his eyes. But now he had something to test. He held a little tighter to Rantaro "so you like me cuddling into you like this?"

Rantaro sighed softly at the question. He knew that Kokichi was trying to test him, trying to make him flustered until he inevitably revealed his crush, but he wasn't going to let that happen. He was pretty calm under pressure and great at concealing his emotions, so he could use this to his advantage to hopefully get through Kokichi's tests without revealing his crush.

"I mean, I don't mind it," he responded. "Nothing else to say, really."

Kokichi softly kissed at Rantaro's neck "okay," he said, leaving it at that

Rantaro ended up blushing when Kokichi kissed at his neck, so he just hoped that the other wouldn't notice that his face was now tinted red. Of course, he was pretty sure that his friend would quickly notice that, especially since it was pretty obvious. He really wished that it wasn't, but there wasn't anything that he could do about it.

Kokichi smiled at the work he'd done " gotcha " he said softly. Doing it again before relaxing completely in Rantaro's arms

Rantaro looked away from Kokichi as he only blushed more. However, he didn't end up thinking about that for long since they arrived at Shuichi's house only a couple of minutes later. Once they got there, Shuichi led them inside before heading to the kitchen.

"If you two need anything, let me know," he said softly. "I'm gonna make food."

Kokichi had fallen asleep in Rantaro's arms, his almost silent snore echoing

Rantaro laid Kokichi down on the couch before following Shuichi into the kitchen so he could take over the cooking. He didn't need the detective who had saved his best friend's life to continue overworking himself like he seemed to have been. He just wanted to help.

"No, you need to relax," he said softly. "Take his cloak and relax. I can tell that you're tired."

Shuichi sighed softly, but he didn't argue with him in the end as he went into his bedroom to get Kokichi's cloak. He wasn't sure why, but he enjoyed wearing it, so he decided to wear it while he was relaxing.

Kokichi slept for a while, cuddling into a pillow

Shuichi didn't seem to mind that Kokichi slept for a while, and neither did Rantaro. Both of them were rather relieved that he was sleeping so peacefully with everything that had occurred earlier in the day. He seemed to be sleeping peacefully and in a better mood, which was great.
