He just kicked her back as she was distracted by the presentation, only he kicked her harder then she had kicked him in the shin.
He moved to watch the presentation, frowning immensely as he saw the crime scenes get even more and more graphic as the slideshow stretched on.
"This is awful…all those kids.." He sighed softly, clenching his fist as he thought about all the kids who had gone missing and been murdered.
Never able to make out their full lives.
Especially those with no one to mourn them..
"I'm ready to take on the case, where was she last seen?"
Amelia held in the yelp that formed in her. Oh, he was so in for it later. Maybe she'd put a spider in his shoe. Or a snake in his pants. And she was definitely going to kick him in the crotch during combat training later.
She leaned forward, elbows on the table. She scratched at her temple. "Alright," she nodded, "I'll take it too."
Children were innocent, from head to toe. They of all people did not deserve this. "Do you want us to being her in dead or alive."
"You have permission to kill on sight."
'Its settled then.' Wynn spoke, leaning back in his chair as he spoke, glancing between all the faces in the room. He lingered looking at Amelia before looking back to the informant.
"I trust we can always turn back to this information should we need it outside of this meeting?" He was asking the obvious, but he felt the need to do so incase something were to happen and they needed access to it.
You could never be to careful with the amount of creatures and the ability they possessed these days.
"Everything you will need on Lamia is inside those folders. Her estimated strength, her magic, her skill. Everything you need. But keep in mind it is all a far-fetched estimate. We have had a few sightings of her. And very limited knowledge was gained. She is quick and knows how to keep out of sight. Be careful."
And they were dismissed.
Amelia stood, grabbing her folder. Tonight she was to memorize every word in the folder and do an ungodly amount of research that would likely have her up until the early morning. She did not like to go in blind. She wanted to learn everything possible there was available about Lamia.
"When do you want to meet to talk about strategy?" She asked Wynn, her demeanor slipping into all work and no play attitude.
Wynn stood and grabbed his folder, he moved to exit the building as soon as he was able too, making sure he was not disturbed.
When Amelia asked him about meeting uo to talk about strategy he remembered that he wasn't working this case alone, and it wasn't just anyone either. He doubted working spontaneous was something that would go well with her fighting Style.
Course it couldn't hurt to shake things up a bit.
"Ah. Right, we can meet up at lamias last known location around 12 in the afternoon. Don't be late."
He spoke to her, before moving to turn and leave back to where his house was.
He had some much needed sleep to catch up on.
Amelia scowled in his direction. She had no idea how he was one of the top hunters, under her of course. He never had a solid plan and was too spontaneous. Situations like this need care and precision. A solid plan. Yes, there could be room for improvisation. She did understand that circumstances changed and that it was highly unlikely for a plan to be followed through all the way with their line of work. But at least she had a guideline to work with.
She flipped him the finger before turning and returning to her apartment. She put on a pot of coffee brewing and fired up her laptop, immediately getting to work.
Wynn had gotten a pretty decent sleep last night despite using his time to read over all the files in the lamia folder.
He tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for Amelia to arrive at the scene, wondering how long it would take her to get there.
She might have over slept if she stayed up all night doing research…which she probably did.
He looked at his watch, before looking back at the surrounding area and seeing people walking around going about their day, and he tried to look inconspicuous as well, just wearing normal clothes as to blend in with the crowds.
Amelia was running late. Not by much, but still late all the same. She has gotten maybe a total of an hour or two of sleep. She had been busy researching and drawing her own conclusions. Everything she had learned was in folders that laid in her messenger bag. She wore business casual, jeans, a nice shirt, and short heels. She had dark circles under her eyes and a coffee in her hand. The reason she had been late.
She came up besides Wynn. "Did I miss anything exciting?"
“Not much, besides some sleep probably.” He commented, Having noticed the dark circles underneath her eyes and the coffee in her hand. He looked around the area for anything suspicious but not noticing anything quite yet.
“You know it’s not like you to be late, any reason for that or is it some habit you picked up on and I just haven’t noticed because we don’t get picked to be together on missions.” He spoke yet again, leaning back on his hands a little bit.
@yellowqueen just so you know where it is
Amelia flipped him the bird at his smart comment. While her lack of sleep certainly made them more noticeable, she couldn't help having dark circles. there was only so much cream and concealer she could use to cover them up. She had been in too much of a hurry this morning to apply her usual makeup.
"Nope," she popped on the 'p', "Just today. I didn't sleep well. Now, can we get to the task at hand?"
He shrugged at her, looking around the area before looking back at her.
"I don't see why not." He scanned the horizon looking for any signs of trouble, or something that could hint at what they were looking for without it being too obvious that he was blatantly looking.
He knew monsters were smarter then that.
Well some, not all.
Amelia tipped around the crime scene, ducking under the tapped-off area. She pulled a pair of latex gloves out of her bag and pulled them on. She looked at the blood splattered on the windowsill. She looked at the marks on the walls, on the ground.
"I don't understand how something can be so inherently evil to go after a child. They're the only thing that's truly innocent in this world." She shook her head.
"Yeah well…the world is full of unexplainable evils. Even if something is pure, that just means the evil things will seek ti destroy and corrupt it even more." He spoke, seeming as if it he was speaking from experience, and from a solemn place. That was before he got back to normal and started doing the same as her and looking around the scene. "We'll have to gather as much as we can find here."
Amelia pursed her lips together. Sje recalled their days years ago when they were assigned to each other. Wynn had always been hesitant sharing things with her. It was part of the problem she had with working with him. She didn't feel like he trusted her. She was supposed to be his partner. If he couldn't trust her with his past, what's to say he would trust her to guard his back.
"There isn't much to gather here. The Lamia came, snatched the kid and practically disappeared. There aren't any marks passed the windowsill. It's like she vanished."
"Maybe the lamia is smaller in size? It would make sense that it didn't leave any marks. it could be weakened from hiding for so long." He suggested, glancing around the crime scene. He crouched down, staring at he ground and hoping to feel for some tracks, some disformed concrete. He sighed a bit frustratedly. He hated when he couldn't find anything. And this case having to do with kids only made him more upset.
(Ima be honest, I don't remember the plot to either of ours. Do you like wanna give me the crash course of what we were doing XD)
(this is Amelia and Wynn, Monster hunters both of great skills but opposites. They are like enemies to lovers kinda deal? They used to be partners, but then split up for their own personal reasons. Right now they are tracking down a lamia)
(the other one is Ruby and Lucian, Arranged marriage. We skipped through the ceremony and now they are just talking. Ruby isn't ready to have kids but she dosent have the heart to tell him)
Amelia pursed her lips as she watched Wynn search for tracks. She doubted he would find any. "Perhaps its a mutated version. It's evolved somehow. Either it's magic has strengthened or maybe it grew wings and disappeared." Whatever it was, she had a sinking feeling that this lamia wasn't acting alone. There hadn't been one in decades. Why show up now if not for a greater reason?
"Mutation? Well that would really suck." He grumbled, he got up and dusted himself off. He sighed a bit irritated, though he figured he wouldn't find anything you can never be too careful when checking.
You never know what you could find. His eyes scanned even as he stood up straight.
"I agree that it probably had some saved up strength." He stared at that rooftop. "hey, could you give me a boost up?"
Amelia pursed her lips. Yes, it would suck. She was an excellent hunter, one of the best. But even this felt out of her expertise. Only, there was no one else to ask. At least no one alive that could help. So it was up to them two and whatever history books they could find on the lamia.
She arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "I'm sorry what? If anything, it should be you giving me a boost. Besides, your shoes are dirty, I'm not getting that on myself."
