Amelia pursed her lips together. Sje recalled their days years ago when they were assigned to each other. Wynn had always been hesitant sharing things with her. It was part of the problem she had with working with him. She didn't feel like he trusted her. She was supposed to be his partner. If he couldn't trust her with his past, what's to say he would trust her to guard his back.
"There isn't much to gather here. The Lamia came, snatched the kid and practically disappeared. There aren't any marks passed the windowsill. It's like she vanished."
"Maybe the lamia is smaller in size? It would make sense that it didn't leave any marks. it could be weakened from hiding for so long." He suggested, glancing around the crime scene. He crouched down, staring at he ground and hoping to feel for some tracks, some disformed concrete. He sighed a bit frustratedly. He hated when he couldn't find anything. And this case having to do with kids only made him more upset.
(Ima be honest, I don't remember the plot to either of ours. Do you like wanna give me the crash course of what we were doing XD)
(this is Amelia and Wynn, Monster hunters both of great skills but opposites. They are like enemies to lovers kinda deal? They used to be partners, but then split up for their own personal reasons. Right now they are tracking down a lamia)
(the other one is Ruby and Lucian, Arranged marriage. We skipped through the ceremony and now they are just talking. Ruby isn't ready to have kids but she dosent have the heart to tell him)
Amelia pursed her lips as she watched Wynn search for tracks. She doubted he would find any. "Perhaps its a mutated version. It's evolved somehow. Either it's magic has strengthened or maybe it grew wings and disappeared." Whatever it was, she had a sinking feeling that this lamia wasn't acting alone. There hadn't been one in decades. Why show up now if not for a greater reason?
"Mutation? Well that would really suck." He grumbled, he got up and dusted himself off. He sighed a bit irritated, though he figured he wouldn't find anything you can never be too careful when checking.
You never know what you could find. His eyes scanned even as he stood up straight.
"I agree that it probably had some saved up strength." He stared at that rooftop. "hey, could you give me a boost up?"
Amelia pursed her lips. Yes, it would suck. She was an excellent hunter, one of the best. But even this felt out of her expertise. Only, there was no one else to ask. At least no one alive that could help. So it was up to them two and whatever history books they could find on the lamia.
She arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "I'm sorry what? If anything, it should be you giving me a boost. Besides, your shoes are dirty, I'm not getting that on myself."
"Then wear gloves Amelia." He spoke, moving to try and grab onto the roof, trying to pull himself up. He let go, before rolling up his sleeve, Showing his toned physic. He gripped the house, and pulled himself up, before climbing up onto the roof and standing up on it carefully. "The view from up here is pretty nice, and you can see a lot for miles." he spoke, before turning back too her.
"want me to lift you up?"
Amelia glared at him. And then she glared at him some for rolling up his sleeves. Curse him for being so attractive. Why couldn't the fates have made him ugly? Perhaps then it would have been easier to work with him. She could just blame his looks for the way he behaved. But no, he had to have a body like the gods themselves had sculpted it. It was truly unfair.
"Seeing for miles isn't all that helpful unless you see something useful," She called up to him. "No, I've got it."
After two failed attempts to grab the roof, she did not "got it". And she was dignified enough that she wasn't going to try a third. "Alright, yes, help me up."
He chuckled softly, smirking at him as he leaned down to offer her hand to pull her up. Once he got her hand he hoisted her up onto the roof top and set her down. He stared at her a bit cuz of how close they were, before clearing his throat and separating from her. He moved to walk across the roof and look down from above.
He didn't need any unnecessary distractions or reminders of the past. He also didn't want to think about how attractive she was..he was still upset at her.
Amelia glared at him as he chuckled at her. She let out a quiet gasp as she was easily hoisted up. It wasn't her fault she was on the smaller size. Even if she did workout regularly, she coukdnt do anything about her height. It was advantageous in some situations and not to much in others. This being one of them. She murmured a thank you, the words clearly forced out. She hated that she had to thank him for this. She hated that he needed to help her in the first place. She quickly separated from him, needing space from him. It seemed he had the same thought as he strode away from her.
She couldn't see anything useful up here. It seemed like a waste to be up here. She put her hands on her hips. "Well, did you see what you needed to see?"
(Hm, what should he see?)
(should he see something or nothing?)
(I'm sorry for taking forever ababa notebook was not working for a bit)

He stared out onto the horizon line, seeing if he could spot something where he otherwise wouldn't. That's when he noticed something on the ground…something that had a glint on it from the sunshine. He walked over to the edge the roof, before moving to just make his way down without saying anything. He did this pretty often when they used to be partners.
He hummed, picking up what looked like a scale in the shape of a tear drop.
"Oh, she was here alright." He smirked at the scale.
