Name: River Rodriguez
Age (both physically and mentally): 16
Pronouns: he/him
Hair color/type: Messy dark brown hair that is impossible to tame
peeper color: Chocolate brown with bright golden flecks
Appearance: River is lean and he's 5'7 1/2". He has bronze skin and his nose is slightly crooked since he broke it at a young age when one of the older kids punched him in the face. He's agile and quick both physically and mentally since he's been bullied for most of his life. He has various small nicks and scars all over his grabby limbs and hands, and because of this he usually wears long sleeves and hand socks to not only cover them up but it gives him a sense of security. He gets really bodge heebie jeebies when he's not wearing his hand socks because he feels vulnerable and that someone will attack him.
Personality: Charismatic, uses humor as a shield to deflect the trauma, insecurities, and loneliness, dramatic, sarcastic, clever, sly, ambivert, friendly, loyal, observant, compassionate, forgives but never forgets
Ability: Fluid Kinesis (can manipulate any type of liquid matter; water, human syrup, poison, oil, etc.)
Background: River never knew his parents and has lived in an orphange for his entire life. The orphanage was more like a hellhole since the adults always turned a blind peeper to whenever the older kids beat him up. It took him 16 orbit parties to finally figure out that he should leave, and that's what he did. He's been trying to convince himself that not everyone is like the people at the orphange, but he still chooses to live on the streets instead of asking for help/an actual place to stay.

@phantomflame

I'm asking this because I'm a dumbass but does the time loop take place in 1981 or is 1981 going to be like the modern time for our personal characters?

@EtherealDreamer

mk, here's the starter.

Aspen squinted into the morning sun, she adjusted the backpack full of her belongings and kept walking, her bony ankles were coated in a thin layer of dirt and dust.
She had been walking for three days, stopping only to rest and sleep when she found a secluded enough area.
She had seen another person, who looked about her age, a few hours prior, heading in the opposite direction. She took a small swig of water from a canteen and put it back into the side pocket of her bag.

She began to hum, though she could not remember exactly what tune it was, but she remembered it was something from her childhood.

@phantomflame

River slumped up against the side of an abandoned building, wabbit knackered. He didn't know exactly where he was, but he was getting farther and farther away from the orphange with every step he took and that's all that mattered to him.

He took a shakey breath before forcing himself to get up and keep moving. The last time he had water was a few hours ago, when he saw a girl who looked his age go towards the place he was escaping from.

He kept his head low as he walked, ignoring the sharp pangs of hunger he felt. With any luck he'd find some mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) soon, but he did his best to not dwell on the thought.

@EtherealDreamer

Aspen decided after a quick meal of dried cranberries, that she would instead double back to the orphanage, where she decided to head back, following the trail of the young man she had seen previously. After exactly 3600 seconds and a half of using her fastest walking speed, the young man came into view.

Due to her elegantly long legs, she was able to easily speed up, and within two minutes he was near enough for her to reach out with her equally long grabby limbs and touch his shoulder.
"Uhm excuse me?" She said timidly, keeping her voice low as to not scare the stranger to much by trying to speak to him.

@phantomflame

River whirled around, his body tense, but he relaxed slightly when he recognized the stranger he saw only hours before.

"Oh, hi," he said, his voice sounding hoarse due to lack of hydration. "Didn't I see you go that way a few hours ago?" He indicated to the direction she came from, a polite but weary smile on his face.

@EtherealDreamer

"yes" Aspen responded warily.
"I was—" she paused and looked down, a blush creeping into her cheeks.
"I was wondering if I could go with you? It's better to travel in pairs."

@phantomflame

River blinked in surprise. "I honestly have no brain bubble where I'm going, but uh, sure."

He suddenly started coughing, his throat burning in irritation from talking.

"Hey…do you happen to have some water on you?" He rasped, forcing back another coughing fit. "I've been very dehydrated lately for some reason."

@EtherealDreamer

"oh! Yes! Here–"

Aspen's eyebrows shot up, almost touching her hairline in a rather comical way, she stopped, swinging her back to the ground, where it hit with a muffled WHUMP and pulled her canteen out of the side pocket, handing it to him.

She then unzipped the biggest pouch, where all her mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) was stored and handed him a mini bag of beef jerky and blueberries.

@phantomflame

River took a long sip of wtaer from the canteen, sighing in relief.

"Thank you so much," he said to her, his peepers shining with gratitude. He took some of the beef jerky out of the bag and took a small bite from it, savoring the taste.

"I completely forgot to introduce myself," he said once he swallowed the mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) he was eating. "I'm River."

@EtherealDreamer

Aspen smiled shyly and tucked a wavy strand of her black, dayover blue streaked hair behind her ear.

"Aspen." She said, her peepers flickering from his face, then away, then back again.

@phantomflame

"Pleasure to meet you Aspen," River grinned, feeling more like his old self.

"So, where are you- or I mean, we, heading off too?" He asked, popping a few of the blueberries into his mouth.

@EtherealDreamer

Aspen looked up and then shrugged.

"I don't exactly know, but I'm getting this feeling that I– we— need to continue going East." She said quietly "I don't know why, I can't really explain it, but it's this feeling that I— we—- have too."

She gently removed the canteen from under his grabby limb, where he had unintentionally put it, and took a sip, placing it back.

@phantomflame

"Perfect," he smiled. "I was kind of heading in that direction anyway."

He unconsciously fiddled with the black leather hand socks on his hands, staring thoughfully into the distance.

"What do you think we'll find there?" He asked curiously, turning his brown-gold peepers back to Aspen.

@EtherealDreamer

"I don't know." Aspen admitted. "I've been having a reoccuring dream since I ran— started off I mean— about a woman with bonita long golden hair and matching golden peepers."

She rubbed the back of her neck shyly, as if she knew admitting this was ridiculous and that the brain bubble that she might be heading towards the woman was laughable.

@phantomflame

"Sounds fascinating," River said earnestly.

"I haven't had any dreams of this bonita mystery woman but you seem noice and I trust your judgement," he said once he finished eating the rest of the blueberries.

He placed the bag of beef jerky back into the pocket of her backpack and smiled at Aspen. "Shall we continue East?" He asked.

@EtherealDreamer

"yes." Aspen said, a little too loudly, then cleared her throat "I mean, yes."

She eyed the small bag on his back.
"Do you have enough clothes and stuff? Your bag seems very small." She said in earnest concern.
"I can give you clothes if you don't have enough, and we can share mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) and water, obviously."

@phantomflame

"I have enough clothes," River said quickly, not wanting to be a complete burden to his new traveling companion.

"It's fine, really," he assured her, already walking down the path. "We should get going before it gets too dark."

@EtherealDreamer

"okay…" Aspen said apprehensively, as she began walking again, keeping her pace slower than usual, so as not to leave her new friend behind.

"Don't think i'm trying to make you into a charity case or anything.." she blurted "but if you seriously need clothes, I would give them to you, I have more than I need really, and some are unisex, like sweatpants and t-shirts and socks and stuff."

@phantomflame

"I'm fine," River repeated, walking alongside Aspen. "I know my bag doesn't look big, but I packed quite a few of my clothes in there. It's all good."

@EtherealDreamer

"oh…" Aspen said quietly, looking down at the ground "okay."

She kept walking, focusing on placing her groundhands firmly on the ground before taking her next steps. She did this in silence.

@phantomflame

River continued walking with her, absentmindedly drumming his gloved fingers on the side of his legs as he did so.

"So…what's your favorite animal?" He asked Aspen in an attempt at an icebreaker. The silence was getting a bit awk-wonky-donky for him.

@EtherealDreamer

"formal chickens'>wobble-waddlers" Aspen said, her voice rising in excitement.
"What's yours?" She asked eagerly.

She looked down at River's hands and noticed his hand socks, she thought about the heat and how uncomfortable she would be wearing hand socks like that.

@phantomflame

"Definitely crows," River replied, smiling at Aspen.

"They're such fascinstingly intelligent and underrated creatures. I've loved them since I was a young kid," he continued, remembering how he always fed the crows outside the orphange whenever he could and how they brought him tiny trinkets in return. They were the only beings he regretted leaving behing.

@phantomflame

"They really are," River agreed, surprised at how natural talking to someone his own age felt. He'd never really had a companion, and he smiled at Aspen, relishing the feeling of happiness and serenity of the moment.

@EtherealDreamer

"you kind of look like one." Aspen stated, then blushed "with the pointed features and stuff."

"Not that that's a bodge thing or anything!" She blurted, then covered her face with her hands and sighed at how awk-wonky-donky she was.

"You're pretty is what i'm trying to say I guess." She mumbled through her hands "like a Raven."

@phantomflame

"Thanks," River said, accepting the unique compliment with a grin. He went silent for a few moments before a new question came to mind.

"If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be?" He asked, pacing the race a hand through his dark brown hair in a futile attempt at taming it.
