Eyros was shaking violently. His eyes had tears in them. He looked over at aya and quickly clung to the other man. He held tightly so he knew he wouldn't be dropped again “ I- I thought I was gonna die..” he said back in the same tongue
Aya nods.
"I've got you. Don't worry. You won't fall again." he murmurs.
"Slytha." he murmurs.
After Eyros fell asleep, Aya brings him up to Dulza, strapping him back into the saddle. He goes back to Ilusvi and sighs, his usuall upbeat and cheerful mood now replaced with anger at himself and distress.
Hours later, the Riders and their dragons reached Du Weldenvarden.
Eyros let the spell take over, just blearily waking up when they weldenvarden.
Dulza had gladly carried eyros, feeling horrible for not protecting his rider from falling. To him, that was the worst thing a dragon could do.
Dulza hadn't talked the entire way there, nor did he as they walked through the city
Ilusvi nudges Dulza with her tail as they walk.
Dulza-vor, it was not your fault. What can you do against the whims of the world? she says gently.
Leave it, Ilusvi. Now is not the time. Aya interjects.
But- Ilusvi starts.
Leave it. Aya snaps.
Dulza looks back at the dragon, stopping in his tracks before nudging his head under Ilusvi’s.
He made a low purish kinda sound
thank you for your concern but my head will not agree.. he said truthfully
Ilusvi purrs back and does the dragon version of a sigh. Without realizing it, she cast one of the dragon's mysterious spells, trying to make Dulza feel a bit better.
Come on, Dulza. It was my idiot of a Rider's fault. Not yours. she huffs.
Oi, who're you calling an idiot, you overgrown blue lizard! Aya retorts.
Dulza chuckles, walking on.
soon eyros woke up fully, letting his body restore it's full height instead of slouching, god he missed this place, and the smells and sounds. Eyros looked like he was in pure bliss
Aya looks over at Eyros.
"I'm sorry." he says softly.
Eyros opened his eyes, looking over at aya. He gave a soft smile and shook his head “ don't be, when I and dulza first got paired, he bucked me off because I was scared of heights. Boy did Eragon give him a new one” he said and patted dulza
Aya chuckles.
"Ilusvi and I never needed much encouragement to be bold. As a matter of fact, we were constantly being scolded for being reckless. But I gave Eragon-elda and Saphira-elda plenty to think about with my interesting uses of magic." he grins, patting Ilusvi's head.
I even used magic on purpose once! Ilusvi crows.
Eyros chuckled, his soft smile warming the cold day. “ so, other then sharing a room, what do you plan to do for the night?” He asked and looked back at the sky.
Dulza looked over at the other dragon and sighed, a bit of smoke following out of his nostrils.
Aya thinks for a moment.
"Eat a lot of food, and drink to my heart's content!" he replies heartily, laughing.
Ilusvi looks over at Dulza. I only did it once, but I know I could do it again! I could show you how, if you'd like!
I would like that he said
Eyros smiled “ it sounds like a plan”
Then it's settled! Ilusvi purrs.
"Although, it'll probably be dinner in our room." Aya chuckles.
“Sure,” eyros chuckled and dismounted dulza “ you two go have fun while me and aya settle in okay?” He said as if he asked.
“ come on aya “ he said and walked toward their homage
Aya hops off Ilusvi and shoos her away good-naturedly, then bounds after Eyros.
"So, what's your story?" he asks, turning and walking backwards to watch Eyros.
Eyros tilts his head “ what do you mean aya?” he asked and chuckled at the elf walking backward.
“ you will fall and I will laugh” he said with a soft smile
"I mean, what do you think Dulza's reason for choosing you? It couldn't have been for your looks." Aya teases.
He laughs and casts a spell. Flipping, he starts walking upside down in the air, still walking backwards. "Now how can I trip?"
The strange pair gain even more attention when Aya does that, but the elf ignores it, focusing on his spell and Eyros.
Eyros raised an eyebrow. “ bad luck, “ he chuckled.
Though eyros smile faded “ in all honesty. I don't know why he hatched for me. But the funny thing was, I wasn't supposed to be there. I was almost two years younger than what my city's age limit required to even touch a dragon egg. Let alone ride one.” he sighed
“ but Eragon saw something in me, and let me keep dulza. And honestly, I think that's why my parents were so angry. “
"The way I see it, you had exceptionally good luck. After all, dragons choose the people that can change the world for the better." Aya says cheerfully. He starts poking at Eyros' face, trying to get him to smile.
Eyros gave in and let the corners of his lips perk up.
Only Once they got to their rooms did eyros realize that there was only one room to rest in. Or at least one bed and one dragon bed. “ I thought they knew that two riders were coming.. “ he said
Aya smiles back at Eyros.
He looks nonchalant about the whole deal. "Eh, I don't mind sharing a bed. Even considering we'll both be very drunk tonight."
Eyros chuckled “ alright then” he said and looked over his shoulder at aya “let's go get a drink,” he offered
Aya smiles and wiggles his fingers dramatically. A few plates of food, as well as a couple barrels of Dwarven ale, appear in the room. His eyes twinkle with mischief.
"Who said we had to leave the room?" he laughs.
Eyros chuckled and shook his head “ you were always better at magic than me,” he said and grabbed two cups.
"Ah, but you've always been handsomer than me." Aya says teasingly, mock seriously. He manages to hold that serious face for two seconds before bursting into laughter.
“!” eyros seemed thrown off by the comment, his face turning a beat red
“you're the embodiment of beautiful and yet I'm more handsome than you?” he asked almost sarcastically
"The beauty of the immortal elf is nothing compared to the allure of a mortal human." Aya says in the ancient language, eyes locked onto Eyros'. After a moment of this, Aya reaches out to grab one of the mugs.
Eyros gave a warm smile, him too reaching for a mug. He felt the same giddy heat in his chest and fast as he did anytime he talked to aya. Why was it?
Aya jerks his hand back as Eyros' grazes it, flushing slightly.
"Sorry, I wasn't. . ." he starts, before going silent.
