" maybe?," He asked

"Depends on whether or not I like you enough.:"

Rantaro nuzzled the other, giving him a soft kiss.

"This will not convince me to like you…! Why are you even trying? What do you even see in me that's likeable?"

" everything about you, you should have more self confidence. " He sighed. " I'm trying because I do like you, even if you don't like yourself."

"I mean, no one likes me, and I intend on keeping it that way. If my fake self annoys everyone, then my real one will, too, you know. And don't take this as me being open with you. I'm just saying you will notice things if I even decide to open up to you."

" you will notice things with me to, it's in everyone. But, the thing is, not everyone has to like you, it just takes one," he said. He held kokichi closer, " Im telling you, you are my one in a million. Just, take it to heart. "

"Obviously not everyone has to, but it's a bit concerning when your own family doesn't like you…" He was too focused on arguing to realize he had just given the other some details of the personal life he never wanted to share..

" your.. your family? They aren't abusive are they?"

"What? Of course not…!" He had no idea how he could lie himself out of the situation. He would've said he was just rehearsing for a play, but the drama club had just finished theirs, so that was obviously untrue…

" ko, be honest. Please. They dont hurt you? " He asked, much more serious now.

"You're telling me to be honest? Really?" He was just avoiding the question, though it only implied what he didn't want to admit.

" kokichi oma tell me! I'm being serious. Stop avoiding the question!"

"Do you even care, Rantaro? You keep pressing into something that I don't wanna talk about, but I can't say you care about it! If you're gonna keep pressing, I guess I've got no choice!" He attempted to get his emotions under control before continuing. "Look, maybe they do hurt me, but, in their defense, I'm not really a good kid.. Just some liar who pushes people away and always acts out.."

" I care.. and that's no good reason to beat a child. Let alone your own. " He hugged kokichi while holding him. Rantaro ran his fingers through the others hair, " I know, it seems like nobody cares, or wants you.. but I do, I want all of you.. including the lying, we'll have ups and downs, and I wanna be there for them. I wanna hold you, care for you, I wanna be there when no one else will. I'm willing to spend all my hours just to make you feel wanted kokichi. I have since we were kids. Your not a bad kid, your not something they can just make an excuse for. Your courage and your cute smile and the way you fit so perfectly in my arms. That's why I love you, that's why I care. I've always wanted to hold you up so you don't fall. And now your giving me that chance and it feels like I'm on a live wire, everything with you is so much better. I love you.."

Kokichi seemed surprised at the other's words and actions, and he began to genuinely tear up at everything that was said. He quickly blinked the tears away, not wanting to show just how much this meant to him. He wanted to respond, but he couldn't think of what to say. He was incredibly touched by what was just said to him, but he was still worried about hurting the other through his actions, his tendencies, and he didn't want to lose the first person who genuinely cared about him. He wanted to open up, but at the same time, he wanted to close himself off from everyone… There was nothing he could think of saying, unsure if finally opening up to someone was a good idea or not..

" I know your used to knowing no one cares, and locking yourself up.. you don't have to open up to me either, I just want you to know I'm here, always will be." He smiled softly.

"I…I have to tell you…I really appreciate it.." He smiled a bit, genuinely happy for the first time in a while outside of club activities. "I can't say I'll ever fully open up, but I can try.. If you promise not to leave me…maybe you'll get to know my life story.."

" I'm not going anywhere ko. " He said as he walked to his room.

"Well then, if you're willing to listen for a bit longer, I'll explain things. You may as well know before you decide to become my boyfriend.."

" Okay, " he chuckled at kokichis acceptance of his confession.

"So, um, are you sure you're ready to know everything that I wanna say? It's a bit concerning, to say the least…"

" it's alright, I'm ready,"

"Okay.." Kokichi sighed. "Well, you've already picked up on the whole abuse thing, and I'm sure by now you've figured out that it's a reason behind my messed up personality.. It gets worse, though… It was always either being punished or abused or just being forgotten about, so yeah, I will be very clingy with you. I should also inform you that aside from a horrible home life, people in the past have left me after finding the real me, so… Long story short, I'm going to be clingy as heck, probably get jealous easily, constantly want your attention, and you're also probably going to have to force me to take care of myself sometimes, as I just forget to do that… You know, since my needs were never important to anyone…" He looked up at the other. "If all that's okay with you and you think you can handle it, I will be glad to call you my boyfriend.."

" I think I can" he said almost happily. He rubbed kokichis back gently as he carried him around the house making supper. " Katsudon alright?" He asked

"Yeah, that's perfectly fine. Thanks for making dinner, by the way.." He couldn't help but smile a bit. He was so glad he had Rantaro in his life. "With everything that's been said, I am now calling you my boyfriend, and I couldn't be happier."

" I'm glad, it's good to see you finally smile. " He said and gave kokichi a soft kiss.

"It's nice to actually smile for reasons other than a performance.." He continued to smile after the other kissed him. "Um…thank you.. I just have to thank you for everything.."
