( Ii was tryna add prompt of he's the foundling child. Like his parents couldn't be found.)
(Ok. That just confused me)
Pandi listened with rapt attention. Once Kyro had finished, they glanced to the side, wings fluttering as he thought. “Oh.” He looked up. “Oh! I’ve heard of you!” Laughing a little at himself, he continued, “Not sure how didn’t realize it. Maybe it is the absence of the crown.” They shrugged. “I think I have seen you before, but I always assumed you were just a musician and performer. But that’s cool! Should I, uh… should I bow?”
Ace watched this unfold, looking both uncomfortable and amused.
" n..no. please don't.." he said awkwardly. Kyro sighed and pulled the crown out his pocket. He placed it on his head. " Better?"
“Okay then,” they said, rubbing his neck and trying to laugh it off. Studying Kyro for a moment, he replied, “It looks pretty on you, but I mean, uh, you don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to.”
Kyro flushed at the cheek. " Th.. thanks and I think I'll keep it on this time.." he said softly and smiled as they walked into the Galla. He watched as the party blossomed, sighing half annoyed
At the moment, the room was filled with representatives and servants, milling about and talking. There was no food yet, and the royal family was noticeably absent. Ace tapped Pandi on the shoulder.
“Come on, let’s find Cecile and Alma,” he said, referring to the other representatives from their district. Pandi turned to Kyro and waved in farewell. “Nice to properly meet you!”
He followed after Ace, disappearing into the crowd.
Kyro waved, feeling his solitary senses kicking in. Every sound was so !u h louder, making his wings puff. Where was his company when he needed it..
The Blue River representatives met up, only to split up again to socialize. Friends meeting up with friends not seen in a while, catching up on news, and the like. Ace and Cecile would get overwhelmed after a while, and tag onto Pandi or Alma.
Finally, sharp eagle screeches were heard. “Enter Her Majesty, Queen Rowena of Alevid!” a guard called. The queen emerged through the entrance, her patterned wings set elegantly behind her, a crown of feathers, leaves, jewels, and flowers around her head.
“His Highness, Prince David!”
Her brother followed behind her, his eyes bright, searching the crowd excitedly. He was dressed in green, his wings quivering slightly behind him.
“His Highness, Prince Edward!”
The youngest brother followed, slow but composed. Everyone knew he was more reserved than even Rowen was, and usually did not care for events like this. His wings were folded close against his back.
The three siblings stood side by side, allowing for a moment of silence as those the crowd bowed and stood. Then Rowena addressed them.
“Thank you all for coming. We are here once again to discuss matters of the state, and the districts that make up its body. However, I understand that some of you had late nights and long journeys in coming here, so please eat your fill and partake in merriment, and later we shall get into discussion. Enjoy yourselves!”
From other entrances, servants came with plates upon plates of food. Seeds, nuts, and fruit dusted with spices or coated in sauces or honey. Meats of all kind; insects and mice and rabbits and fish, roasted, grilled, or fried. Cups of water and flower nectar were passed around. Everyone sat and began to dine.
Kyro sat near the queen, enjoying his usual mouse and a few berries. He sighed and lowered his head. He hated being so bunged up, preferring solitude and tranquility over the loud party. Though he couldn't stop thinking about the avain who gave him the courage to wear his crown.
Pandi sat with the others from his district, though sometimes he would speak to a black harrier avian whom they met the previous year. She was fun to talk to and had a nice sense of humor, so Pandi got along with her well. Occasionally their eyes subconsciously searched for Kyro as they ate their favorite meal, fish.
Meanwhile, the queen ate a meal of a mouse and a rabbit, also feeling a little overwhelmed. She didn’t not speak much, save for with her brothers. David was a bit loud, but he was always like that. Rowena was more looking forward to the one on one conversations that she would hold later.
" hey.. queen.. have you seen a osprey named pandi? I can't find him.." he asked the queen with after coming up to her " I.. I'm done eating to I figured I'd mengal "
( sorry I'm not so good at long replys but I love reading yours. Your always so detailed and it's amazing. If you wouldn't mind, could you give me some tips on how you do it?)
(Ahh thank you! And it’s okay, sometimes I can’t write long replies either. And no, I don’t mind ^^)
She raised her head. “Ah, Kyro,” she greeted, taking his hand in a rather motherly fashion. It one of those small gestures of affection Rowena tended to do. She let go of it as he spoke. “An osprey? Ahh, you mean the young one from last year? I remember. I have not seen him, but the Blue River avians tend to stay over there.” She gestured to the side of the dining area where Pandi and his friends were seated.
Kyro smiled softly, his faint pink only more noticable. He could feel the stinging his ears. The snow owl spoke softly so only she heard " thanks mom" he said. Kyro walked quietly, as to not draw attention, he eventually found pandi. " Hey, mind if I sit?" He asked. He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the heat there too. How did the osprey incite so much out of such a cold bird. He chuckled softly at his own thoughts.
Rowena gave him a soft look as he left, then returned to her meal.
In Pandi’s group, Alma had asked him about how how his brother was doing, so they were talking to her about that when Kyro showed up. Alma was a sanderling, with white speckled wings and a round, friendly face. She was older than Pandi, as almost everyone here was, but she had a young soul that they could easily connect with.
When Kyro appeared, the others gave strange looks or went quiet. Pandi, however, smiled up at him.
“Kyro! Good to see you again. Of course!” He patted the seat next to him.
Kyro smiled softly. He noticed the harder looks toward him but didn't pay any attention. He smiled at pandi and focuses on his voice. " S..sorry I don't mean to interrupt.." he said hesitantly. Kyro fidgeted with his feathers and looked up, his snowy blue eyes watching pandi with a curious look.
“No worries,” Pandi said cheerfully. He turned back to Alma and finished what they were saying. “Anyway, I hope to write to Dion later, do you want to say hi?”
“Um…” Alma’s eyes were hesitant, flickering to Kyro occasionally. “Sure, it will be nice to hear from him.”
Pandi nodded, then turned to Kyro. “So, do you like these kind of things? Parties, and stuff like that.”
" no.. honestly I don't. I prefer the tranquility" he said softly. Kyros crystal blue eyes searched the crowd. " It's going to be a long night.." he said to himself
“Oh okay, so you’re like Ace over here,” Pandi nodded in the older avian’s direction, who was quietly eating his food. “Personally, I love it, it’s so much fun, but I get wanting solitude.”
Kyro smiled toward pandi softly. He leaned a little closer to the other Avain and sighed. Right now he wanted to go lay down. Even if he couldn't sleep he justed wanted some kind of comfort. Hell even a wing around his side would ease the anxiety he got from loud party's
He softened at the others smile, watching as he came closer. “Are you alright, Kyro?” They asked. Casually, Pandi patted the snowy owl’s head. “Don’t worry, it’s okay.”
Then he felt a tap on his shoulder. Alma was looking at him with concern. “Um, Pandi, I don’t think you’re supposed to do that.”
They tilted their head, confused. “But he looked unhappy…”
" it's fine… Alma was it?" Kyro tilted his had and chirped a bit. " I'm.. I'm just a little anxious with all the sound and chaotic "
“O— oh,” she muttered, looking to him, then down at her plate. Clusters of small insects and seeds stared back at her. “Alright then.”
Pandi quirked his head at her, then smiled, turning and patting Kyro’s head again. “I’m glad you don’t mind!”
Kyro trilled at pandis touch and smiled softly. His wings seemed to fluff a bit and he chuckled. " So, why is everyone so serious?" He looked around at the group and a few members of the party. Quit a few people seemed like the world might have well been ending
The black harrier woman raised an eyebrow. “It’s not every day the queen’s surrogate son sits among us. We are unsure how else to act.”
Pandi took a bite of his fish. “I’m sure it’s okay,” he said, their voice muffled from the food. They swallowed. “You said you didn’t like others treating you like royalty, right?” He turned to Kyro, his feathers ruffling a bit.
" yeah, it's makes everything seem so unfair. I was born with wing and tail feathers like everyone else. So why should I be any different. Though I think my way of thinking is why I'm called a pheasant prince. " He chuckled softly. " So where do you all come from, you guys are so diverse from what I usually see,"
