Everyone has a soulmate. A person they are connected to from birth to death. Any marks that appear on one of the soulmate's skin appear on the other as well. That's why Valentina feels bad. Her soulmate's parents were probably worried when their child ended up with bruises and cuts. They wouldn't hurt them. Just marks on skin. They would of stopped for a while but then started up again. When she got into fights. Her soulmate would also have a small stick and poke tattoo of a star on their wrist and almost constantly have marker marks all over their body.
Your character is her soulmate. They both go to the same school. Valentina being the new mysterious bad girl in town.

Name: Valentina (Val) Ricci

Gender/pronouns: Female she/her
Sexuality: Lesbian (but has and will flirt with anyone to get her way)
Description: Short choppy brown hair that is cut off at her shoulders and olive skin. Her eyes are dark brown. She has a scar up her left leg(that would also be on your character just very faded) and a small black star tattoo on her left wrist. She wears semi heave makeup. ITs mainly just eyeliner (that unless covered up would also be on your character.) She has a nose piercing. Just a hoop.
Personality: Can easily hide her emotions and change how she acts to fit her surroundings. She's very flirty and confident. Sometimes a bit too confident. She thinks carefully before she speaks and is constantly scanning her surroundings. She's very closed off when it comes to her actual self. Never letting herself get close to people. When she does she is very protective over them and cares a lot. She has a hard time following orders and (when not playing a role) she can get hostile easily. She's not very book smart, never being in the same school for more than a year can mess up your education, but she's pretty "street smart" and socially intelligent.
Backstory: Val's older brother, Alex, pretty much raised her. their parents were abusive and neglectful. When Val was 10 and Alex was 16 they were taken out of their parent's custody. They stayed in the same foster home for almost a year but then Alex messed up. He ended up going to a boy's home. Val was sent to another family. he promised her he would have a pace for them as soon as he turned 18 but he disappeared. she hadn't heard from him in a long time. That didn't stop her from sabotaging every stable home she is placed in. He said he would come back and she couldn't be adopted. that would ruin everything. That's why she never stays in one home for longer than a year. Some of them were accidents or not her fault.
Other: speaks Italian and has a slight accent when she gets emotional.

Description: May is pretty short and has a warm skin tone. Her eyes are a vibrant forest green. Her hair is a sort of reddish brown and almost reaches to her shoulders. She keeps some of it tied back in a bun but lets some stay loose. Her ears are pierced, and her left ear has two piercings. Typically, May likes to wear vibrant colors and overalls, paired with either some kind of canvas shoes or combat boots. She's almost always seen with a pair of circular yellow sunglasses. If she gets a cut or scar on her face or arms, she tries to cover it with a band-aid.

Personality: May is very sweet and friendly. She's a bubbly ray of sunshine that likes to see the good side of everything and everyone. She flusters easily and actually has pretty low self-esteem, but tries to help out wherever she can. If she's not the greatest, she can at least help other people be the best they can, right?
Backstory: May grew up in a very loving household. Her family isn't super rich, but they're pretty well-off–her parents are both surgeons. May didn't really think anything of this until she started noticing things. How people reacted to the size of her house, her friends being surprised at the birthday presents she gave them, things like that. She started feeling a little self-conscious of it in late middle school. Her older cousin, who came to live with May and her parents when their mom and dad were busted for making and selling hard drugs, has helped take care of her since she was about nine. Their name is Corbyn, they're nonbinary, and they're four years older than May. If you'd like, I can do a template for them too.
Other: Due to constantly getting random cuts or bruises, May has a higher pain tolerance than most would expect.

Valentina was sitting in the principles office of her new school. She was joining in the middle of the school year. She got kicked out of her old school after not even a year after getting into a fight, which ended with a busted lip that was already healing. Unfortunately, the fight was also with her foster sister so her entire life was moved again. This time two towns over. She sat patiently. Face void of emotions. She was wearing plain jeans and a long sleeve crop top. It hid her tattoo. Smiling when finally the principal comes out of her office. she shakes Val's hand, hands her schedule over, and leads her out of the office. Vals followed a step behind the principle as they walk down the halls. She seemed happy enough. Better than a lot of her old principles that seemed to hate their jobs. She led Val to her first period after showing her the basics. They had arrived a few minutes after the first bell. Val was pretty sure her first period was history but she hadn't bothered to look at the schedule.
"Good morning principal Jones seems like we have a new student," The teacher greeted. Val just waved.

May looked up from her sketchbook when the door opened. She'd been doodling before the interruption, mainly just a few of her favorite characters wearing flower crowns. With a big, warm smile, she waved at the new girl. The tattoo on her wrist wasn't as clear as the other girl's–not that she knew she had one–but it showed pretty clearly, as she didn't wear long sleeves or bracelets of any kind to hide it. Rather, she wore a white button-down shirt with a bright yellow lemon pattern and sleeves that cut off around the elbow, light denim overall shorts, knee-high white socks, and a pair of black combat boots.

Val barely noticed the other girl. It seemed like the rest of the class didn't really care either. The teacher said something to her but she just nodded. he gestured for her to take a seat so she did. The only open seat is next to May. Her face was emotionless as she sat down. leaning on the desk slightly. The teacher started talking. Going on about some boring war. She took out a notebook. Pretending to take notes when really she was drawing.

May, on the other hand, was actually taking notes for the most part. Though, she did do a fair amount of doodling in the margins. At one point, she ripped a small piece of paper out of her notebook and wrote something on it, then discreetly passed it to Val. Hey, I'm May. If you need help or anything, feel free to ask! :)

Name: Corbyn Smith
Age: 21

Sexuality: Pan
Description: Corbyn is tall and lanky, with a slightly paler complexion than May. Their hair is usually kept back in a ponytail and they tend to dye it different colors monthly. Currently, it's green. They have blue eyes. Corbyn's clothing usually consists of looser-fitting clothes and denim jackets paired with whatever they feel like. They have a couple of piercings, but only really wear one at a time.

Personality: Corbyn is a big softie, but isn't afraid to get involved in conflict if they need to. They pretty much live by "do no harm but take no shit". They do tend to overreact if someone gets injured, despite wanting to become a doctor.
Backstory: Corbyn's parents were drug makers and addicts, and they was taken out of their custody when they were thirteen. They were put in the care of May's parents and have lived with them ever since. Corbyn sees May more as a little sister than a cousin and doesn't take the appearance of a new injury very well at all, often being the first one to break out the first aid kit.
Other: They want to go to med school, but are waiting for May to get out of high school to do that. Mainly because May's parents are almost always at the hospital, and they worry that one day her soulmate will get an injury that could kill them both–they want to be there to keep them alive, should that ever happen. They also love hot chocolate.

Val took the note. She smiled to herself slightly and wrote back. I'm Valentina I should be good thanks though her handwriting was messy but readable. She carefully passed it back. Her long-sleeve lifted up slightly. Revealing her tattoo but she didn't think much of it. She turned back to her notebook. The teacher seemed to be wrapping up his lecture. Gathering some papers from his desk to hand out.

May's eyes widened when she saw the other girl's tattoo, but she didn't say anything–history class probably wasn't the best time to announce something like that, as much as she wanted to. Was this new girl… Could she be my soulmate? May wondered excitedly, reading the note. Valentina…

Val looked over at May after the teacher handed them their papers. He said that this wasn't individual. She looked May up to and down. "hey does your offer to help still stand? Because I have no clue what we are learning," Val asked lowering her voice at the end. A small smirk on her lips as she picked up her pencil.

"Yeah, totally!" May replied with a smile. She really liked History; it was probably her second favorite class, next to art. "Basically, it's just more of the American revolution–honestly, I'd kinda been hoping we wouldn't talk about that a whole lot this year. It's like it's re-taught every year, y'know?" She started explaining, gesturing with her hands to make a point–and awkwardly aware of where her wrist was. May was kind of kind of hoping the other girl would at least notice it. Maybe the middle of class wasn't a great time to discuss things like 'wow are we soulmates?', but if she at least saw it and maybe asked about it in between classes or at lunch, that would definitely be a best-case scenario.

Val nodded May spoke. Leaning on her desk slightly but her full attention seemed to be on May. She noticed the tattoo. She didn't say anything. Her smirk just faltered for a moment but she kept it up. Her mind wondered now that she knew this. This doesn't mean she's my soulmate. she thought still nodding along to May. "I think I got it. I've learned about this a few times. Thank you," She turned around before May could say anything else. I can't have a soulmate right now. That wasn't part of the plan. she picked up her pen. Ignoring the paper in front of her.

"Alright, let me know if you have any more questions," May said, then began working on her own assignment. Did she notice? She really hoped she did. Aside from the exciting prospect of finally meeting her soulmate, May had some questions to ask her. Like why was she always getting hurt?

Val just nodded. Once May was down she started writing on paper. Purposefully getting marks on her hand as she continued. she tried not to make it obvious. She just really wanted to know without hopefully tipping May off. At least she knew who to avoid for the rest of the year. She finished her work. She didn't know any of the answers. Completely winging her way through it. She looked over at May through the corner of her eye.

May noticed the weird sensation that always came with new pen marks first. It was kind of like someone was very gently sliding the tip of their finger along wherever the mark appeared. She then saw the marks on her hands. She looked over at Valentina and saw similar markings on the other girl's hands. May's eyes widened a bit. It had to be true now, right?

Val noticed May's expression changed. Just great she noticed. she thought before looking back at her paper. The bell rang after what felt like forever. The teacher collected the assignment on the way out. Val tried to be the first out and stay ahead of May. The other girl seemed nice but she didn't want to face her right now. She never wanted to meet her soulmate or at least she didn't for a long time. Hopefully, a time when she had a better excuse for all the marks that didn't make her seem like a bad person.

May tried to approach Val after class, but between her quickening pace and some of May's friends dragging her away to talk about something while they headed to English class, she wasn't able to. When the bell rang and May was in her seat, she sighed. Did Valentina want nothing to do with her? Why? Had she come off as weird or something? Then she had an idea, pulling out a pen. It probably wasn't quite Val's style, with sparkly purple ink, but it was what May had. Hey, is something wrong? she wrote on her arm, then hesitated before adding, Sorry if I came off weird at all. May's handwriting was small but neat.

Val's next class was math. She found it a few minutes after the bell rang and settled in her seat. Her lips pressed together when she felt the writing on her hand. She fought back a smile when she saw the purple sparkles. U didnt was all she wrote back in the same messy handwriting as the note. She didn't say anything else. The only reason she even wrote that was so the other girl didn't worry. She excused herself and went to the bathroom scrubbing the writing off. standing there for a few more minutes. not sure what to do. She knew she shouldn't skip class on her first day but she really didn't want to go to class so she stood there for a few minutes looking at her arm.

May watched the letters on her own arm disappear. Val had to be in the bathroom, then. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask this now… Can I ask you something? Why are we you always getting hurt? If you don't want to say, that's ok, she wrote, adding the last bit on hastily. It was something that she'd always kind of wondered and worried about.

Val stared at the words for a moment. Sorry about that its nothing. I'll try not to as much She wrote handwriting even worse than before. She then almost immediately washed the words off. Scrubbing to make sure there was no sign of the ink before leaving the room. She walked back to her class. She had lunch next. She sat at an empty table needing to think.

May hummed to herself, gently swinging her packed lunch at her side. Several of her friends had already sat down at the table they normally occupied, and a few of them were still in the lunch line. As she approached the table, May noticed Valentina sitting alone at an empty one and frowned slightly. "Guys, I think I'm gonna sit somewhere else today. Nothing against any of you, obviously, but–"

"You gonna sit with that new girl?" One of her friends asked. She nudged May with her elbow, grinning. "She's not too bad-looking, I'll give you that~"

May's cheeks pinked. "Wh–No. I mean, yeah, I'm gonna sit with her, but it's not like that–stop laughing Jack I swear to god–" she stammered. It… wasn't like that, right? She'd know if she was getting a crush. Right? Sure, she was certainly pretty, and she seemed cool and nice, but May didn't really even know anything about her! "I–y-you guys are terrible, I'm gonna…yeah. Bye."

"Go get her, champ!" someone at the table cheered as she left, causing May to wince and her blush to deepen. By the time she reached Val's table, she'd managed to mostly turn down the red on her face, though her cheeks were still a little bit pink.

"Hey, mind if I sit here? You looked kinda lonely," May commented with a slightly awkward smile. Just be cool, don't fuck up–wait, why am I treating this like I'm talking to a crush? Just because she's my soulmate doesn't mean we're… destined to date or whatever, right?

Val didn't look up from her sketchbook until May spoke. She shrugged. "Sure why not," She said before looking down at her sketchbook. She had a paper bag next to wit her name but she hadn't opened it yet. too busy trying to think of a way to avoid May. Well inviting her to sit at her table was probably not the best start but she didn't want to jump straight to being an ass.
