Corbin calmed down some at that, holding back a chuckle.
"I can handle carrying you," The king assured. "I…" Could Corbin admit he liked it? Not yet, that's for sure.
"It's easy, really, I promise."
Corbin calmed down some at that, holding back a chuckle.
"I can handle carrying you," The king assured. "I…" Could Corbin admit he liked it? Not yet, that's for sure.
"It's easy, really, I promise."
Mir nodded, smiling a bit. “Ok…” He cuddled into the king and let himself be carried to the treasury, wondering what his bracelet would look like.
Corbin led Mir back to the inner parts of the palace now, bringing their journey downward as the floors began to slope. They came to a large, well-reinforced metal door, locked at least four times, and turned to the right, to the nondescript wooden door next to it.
Mir watched as they walked, still attempting to memorize the layout of the palace. He got confused when Corbin ignored the massive safe door…
Corbin opened the wooden door, revealing… this was the treasury. The other room was just a diversion, it seemed. Corbin set Mir down for a moment, opening a locked chest to reveal the jewelry inside. He moved some things around, finally coming up with a bracelet. It was simply, a leather band with gold and jade beads woven into the lace holding the larger bands together.
Dragomir’s eyes widened. “Oh it’s so pretty!!” He came closer and presented his left wrist to Corbin. It almost felt like he was being marked or chained, but… not in a bad way strangely enough?
"It goes nicely with your eyes," Corbin said softly. He lifted the bracelet up, undoing the ties some so he could slip it onto Dragomir's wrist. The king smiled softly, securing it in place.
"How does this feel?" Corbin asked, looking up at Mir from where he was kneeling.
Mir smiled as he admired his new pretty thing. “It’s comfy! Thank you!” It was almost more of a cuff or wristlet than a bracelet. He bent to hug Corbin happily. “It’s so beautiful, thank you very much Corbin!”
(If it's on the ankle I believe it's called an Anklet..)
(Yes, it is called that, but it was on his left wrist.)
Corbin hugged Mir, grinning.
"You're welcome Mir! I'm so glad you like it." Corbin held Mir close, standing up. He really was a large man, the king.
"Shall we get you any more jewelry, or move on to dinner."
(facepalm I kept reading ankle instead of wrist for some reason…)
Mir quickly shook his head at more jewelry. “We don’t need more jewelry do we? Unless there’s a benefit to me wearing anything more?” He wasn’t sure what exactly the implications of the jewelry were, so he wasn’t sure if he needed any more.
"They don't have any meaning like these do, but… the more jewelry you have, the more favor you'll be seen as having with me." Corbin blushed some at the thought. The jewelry really was like a gift, then, even if Mir wouldn't be able to take the items with him when he was able to retire.
Dragomir thought for a moment. “Well, it would be weird for you to just give me a ton of jewelry on the first couple days, so maybe we can just pick some stuff out and you can gradually give me some. Like after…. after tonight… You can give me another thing for me to wear. And after that, we gradually give me more. Not too much, but…”
Corbin nodded.
"That makes sense. We… can come down for some tomorrow, then." Corbin took Mir's hand in his, blushing some while he continued to smile.
"We can pick it out together."
Dragomir smiled and let Corbin take his hand. “That would be wonderful, thank you~ Dinner then?”
"Dinner," Corbin agreed. He led Dragomir out of the treasury, closing the door behind him. He smiled, humming contentedly as he led Mir back to the out parts of the palace.
"What would you like?"
Mir ducked his head shyly. “C-could we have something with meat…? I haven’t had meat in a long time…” He clung to Dragomir’s arm happily.
"Sounds perfect to me," Corbin said. He smiled, his hand resting on the one Dragomir had on his arm, a sweet gesture.
"We'll return to the rooms then, and have dinner together."
Dragomir smiled back sweetly and snuggled close before beginning to tug Corbin in the direction of their rooms. “Ok, then c’mon!! I’m hungry!”
Corbin laughed some, scooping Dragomir playfully up in his arms and starting off with his quick, long strides, going quite fast compared to a normal person even though he was barely even fast walking.
Dragomir squeaked when he was picked up and carried, amazed at how fast Corbin went in his normal pace. He wondered how fast he’d be, running.
Corbin laughed lightly when Dragomir squeaked, able to get them to the bedroom in no time it seemed.
"Startled?" Corbin asked, smiling sweetly and holding Mir close.
“J-just a little. You’re so fast!” He blushed as he was held close to the king. He snuggled into his arms though, enjoying being held. He loved being cared for like this, it was so calming and made him feel safe and sound…
Corbin smiled as he brought Mir into the king's own room, nodding.
"An advantage of being tall, I suppose." He chuckled, bringing Dragomir over to the table to sit down with him.
Mir hummed. “Hm. I wouldn’t know. But the advantages to being short and small are that you get get into all sorts of places and hide really easily.” He sat down in the chair he had sat in this morning, purposely not looking in the direction he knew the bed was.
"Mm… true. I've never had that liberty." Corbin smiled some, not looking at the bed either. They'd get to that after dinner. They were left to talk for a few minutes, but it wasn't long before there was a knock, and at Corbin's word the servant opened the door, bringing their dinner in.
Mir flushed and ducked his head submissively when the servant came in, not looking up from his lap. He kept his bracelet in sight so that if the servant was a gossiping one, they’d spread around the fact that Mir most definitely was a concubine.
The servant set their dinners down, a delicious looking meat dish, glancing up at the two. To cement the story, Corbin lifted Mir's left hand to rest in the man's, showing the bracelet off as the king leaned forward, kissing Mir's head. The news would spread like wildfire, of course.
