(Well, depends on if miles owns his cabin or is just kinda crashing there? Could be one next to his if he does own it other way it works for me)

Deleted user

(I was thinking he owns it and Em is just confused because all she has is a bunch of directions on paper and is lost.)

(Okie! :) )

Miles furrowed his brow in confusion as he heard something outside. He tried his best to remember if his mom was coming over to visit. But I don't remember her telling me that she was coming not only today, but this early…
He shoved himself up with a groan and glanced down at himself. I should get dressed… if it DOES happen to be Mom, she… I bet she'd be annoyed…
But when he walked over and peeled the front window's curtain back, it was a car he didn't recognize. He gave a look – confusion mixed with disgust – and turned away.

@gracehustle

Emmeline wasted no time hopping out of her car and trying to remember where she was told the keys to the place were. There was a hint in her mind telling her that this wasn’t the right place, but she didn’t listen to it. After all, this was the only cabin for miles.
She walked up to the small porch on the cabin and frowned when she saw no lockbox that would hold the keys to get in. The more she looked around, looking for one, the more she was sure this wasn’t the right place. If it wasn’t though, she was utterly lost and whoever might or might not be inside this cabin would be her only help to find the right place. And so she knocked on the door.

Miles stiffened when he heard someone knock. What the….? He was confused and definitely not in the mood to talk to some stranger. But he had to do something, or they possibly wouldn't go away so easily.
He meandered to the door – not bothered by his unkempt image – and opened up without looking who it was first.

@gracehustle

“Hi,” She said as soon as the door opened, a tiny, nervous smile on her face. That was all the further she got though before she took in the man’s unkempt appearance and regretted knocking. Quickly she tried to recover from her silence, “Sorry for bothering you, I was just wondering if you knew the way to a cabin around here? If you don’t I can leave, I’m just lost.” She laughed nervously, holding the printed directions in her hand like they were the only possession she had.

Miles glared at the young lady for a moment, a tired look on his face. To be truthful, I don't have time for your mistakes, He thought ironically. "A cabin?" He muttered, tipping his head as he stuck a finger in his ear and dug some wax out, flicking it away. "As far as I know, there's no one around here besides me. And I live here." Unless some schmuck built another one that I don't know about…

@gracehustle

(Sorry for disappearing! I was gone for the Fourth with friends but I'm here now!)
Emmeline frowned, glancing at her directions and then nodding slowly. "Oh, I probably didn't follow these correctly then," She said with a tiny smile, tapping the papers as she looked back up at him again, "Well, if you're sure no one else lives in this area, then I can leave you alone again." The fact that he claimed that no one else lived in the area made her nervous and also quite embarrassed, so leaving seemed like the best option.

(Okay! :) )

Miles rolled his eyes and scratched his chin. "I feel like that's all you can do…" He grumbled. Sheesh, what the hell? This lady just showed up on your doorstep, and she's obviously lost! Quit givin' her shit! His mind told him to be more polite, but with the lack of sleep, it was easier said than done.

@gracehustle

"I hope you have a good day," She replied, offering another tiny smile and nodding as she stepped back from the door. Emmeline folded the directions up and stuffed them into her pocket as she stepped back again, finally turning on her heel and starting towards her car. The look of worry on her face was hidden, but internally she was panicking. If this wasn't where she was supposed to be, she was utterly lost, and there was absolutely no reception for her to call anyone out here.

Deleted user

"I, uh…." He stammered, a bit torn for a moment; He felt bad for her, but he didn't want to deal with her, especially since he had no idea what she was capable of. "I hope you find where you're going!!" Miles called out to the lady before he backed away inside and closed the door. So much for being nice…

@gracehustle

(How do you want to have them meet next? I was thinking maybe her car breaks down or something and he comes across her that afternoon or something while she's trying to fix it?)
"I'll try," She called back, slipping into her car and only letting out a defeated sigh once the door was closed behind her. It took her a minute to get her directions laid back out but then she was backing out of his driveway, slowly getting back onto the road again. Back to trying to find out where the cabin was. As long as she could figure out her way through the woods that was.

Deleted user

(Sure that works. I just felt like having her come into his house the first time he met her felt a bit forced to me, but what you proposed works.)

Miles pinched his brow and let out a grumbling sigh. You could've at least helped her out with directions…. But I have no idea where another cabin would be! He began to have conflicting thoughts as he trudged on upstairs to get some real clothes on. This whole situation confuses me… Honestly, I'd be just as lost as she is!
Miles wandered into his room and pulled open his wardrobe. After what he experienced, he wanted to at least look half decent before running into someone else – if not, then the same lady.

@gracehustle

(Yeah that would've been a bit forced, I agree)
Emmeline wasn't back on the roads for more than ten minutes before she was lost again, but this time there was no house nearby that she could get directions from. The roads all looked the same, and there were only a few landmarks that she could remember to head sort of on the way back, or in the direction she figured was the way back. Her humming was no longer audible and she frowned every time she glanced at the directions. All she could do was hope she found where she was supposed to go before night would hit.

(I'm finally back! Nothing to be concerned of.)

Miles finally got himself dressed in a matter of minutes, but his mind was still on that lady that accidentally stopped by. I still don't have the slightest idea where she's going… as far as I'm concerned… He shrugged his shoulders as he brushed his hair back with his hands. …I'm the only one living around here…

@gracehustle

It was embarrassing, but in the hours Emmeline had been driving through the roads in the woods, she hadn't found the cabin at all. She had eaten all the snacks she had brought with though, as well as tried to call her family multiple times with no answer, though that was easy to describe as the lack of reception. And now on top of everything, she was standing outside of her car, cursing like a sailor at the completely empty gas tank that her car had. "Not even a drop left?" She asked, scowling at the car and smacking the hood just for good measure, "You couldn't have died at any of a worse time? It's going to be night in an hour, and I'm starving."

The day passed by in the blink of an eye, and it was coming to an end as the sun dropped low in the sky.
Miles headed inside from his outdoor work in the back and wiped a disturbing amount of sweat off his forehead and flicked it off to the side. Well, that's a wrap.
He thought about the day and how it went by so fast, but he stopped once he remembered that lady that stopped by earlier in the day. He shrugged her off, though. I bet she found where she was going… she hasn't come back, so…
He trudged into the bathroom and closed the door to take a shower.

@gracehustle

Emmeline stood for a few more minutes outside her car, frustratingly close to tears as she tried and failed to call her cousins or even her mother. No reception, no gas, and no clue where she was, her next options were either staying in her car for the night or trying to find the cabin from earlier. "Down to two choices," She mumbled to herself, finally slipping back into the car and leaning her head on the steering wheel, "And there's no way that the guy from earlier would help me. He made that much clear."

Miles finished up and got dressed back in his robe to get ready for bed. He went downstairs real quick to get a good glass of water before heading back up to go to bed. Another day, gone… let's hope tomorrow is a bit cooler… that heat was awful out there….

@gracehustle

Stubbornly, Emmeline stayed in her car for a few more minutes, then cursed again in frustration and grabbed her smallest bag of things she could use. Her keys were held tightly in her hand and she locked her car door three times before she finally stepped away from it, all while praying to whatever higher beings there were. After all, she could use all the luck she could if she was going to find the house from earlier, and hopefully, the guy would be home. Then she could maybe get some gas and be back on her way. As she stepped away from her car though and headed up the winding road in the fading sunlight, she felt anything but hopeful at her chance of finding the mystery guy.

Miles turned out all of his lights before finally climbing back into bed in pitch darkness. He took his robe off and tossed it aside as he settled in on top of covers. Aaah… It feels so good to be asleep…. even if it feels like I got out of bed five minutes ago….

@gracehustle

By the time Emmeline finally reached what she figured was the same driveway to the house from before, it was pitch black out and she was relying on nothing more than the dying light of her phone's flashlight. She tried to keep her teeth from chattering, seeing as she wasn't dressed for the cooler night temperatures as she finally set her sights on the cabin with a relieved smile. She even tried to look a little more put together, slinging her small backpack onto her back fully as she stepped up to the door again. As long as someone answered, everything would be fine. That's all she told herself as she knocked again, then stepped back and resumed her shivering in the cold.

Miles rolled over as he thought he heard something. But didn't think much of it as he just ignored it; sleep was all he could think about.

@gracehustle

She waited a few minutes before knocking again, this time harder. Emmeline was already freezing again from not walking around, and she muttered a few choice words under her breath as she waited for some sort of sign to help her know that someone was home. Hopefully someone that would choose to help her.

He sat up, his eyes still closed. Now what…. After hearing the noise louder and more persistent, he decided to get out of bed and get his robe on, in case he had to go outside. What a time to have a problem…

(Question: Can I use swear words?…. I don't know if ur okay with it.)

@gracehustle

(Yeah I'm cool with it, do whatever you want :) )
Emmeline sighed when once again she heard no answer, trying one last futile time to knock, even as she leaned against the door. She shivered again and glanced up at the stars, scowling at the dark sky almost like it was its fault she was here, trying to get gas or be able to call someone from a stranger's house.

(Okie, haha!)

Miles stumbled around in the dark, trying to feel his way around. He managed to get to the doorway and down the stairs without thinking about turning the light on. He grumbled all the way, his eyes half closed.
Until he stubbed his toe on the coffee table in the living room.
The pain was absolutely too excruciating to contain his emotion, and while he bit his lip so hard he could've drawn blood to prevent his outburst, he couldn't help it.
"FUCK!!"
He barked, his throat going dry before he stumbled to the front door.
