@Althalosian-is-the-father book
Brilliant.
Brilliant.
So is Owen your real name?
Actually no :/
When I get old enough I plan on legally making it, though.
Okay.
Why?
My legal name now just doesn't.. fit.
Once I get old enough to move out and stuff, I really want to start over in a lot if ways, which also means a new name.
Owen fits me well, I think, and it makes me a lot happier than my legal name.
Pretty weird ngl. But I support doing strange things so there you go.
Lol thx man
I assume Dom is your real name, then?
Yeah. I mean Dominic but yeah.
Noice
So what got you into film. (For you too, Frances.)
Probably when I started watching Nerdwriter's videos on YouTube (HIGHLY recommended). After watching Nerdwriter for fun, I'd watch TV and movies with a different perspective- paying special attention to dialogue and camera shots and angles. Like a whole world was opened up to me, and I really started seeing how valuable film making was.
I have a language arts teacher who's really encouraged me too. He likes to hear my input when we analyze literature and film clips.
It's just a really cool art form, bringing people into new worlds with SFX, new cultures with costume and set design, new people with dialogue and skilled acting, new emotions with a mere camera angle, and a new tone just by changing something as simple as a color. It's all very impactful.
What about you?
Well– my dad has always loved film, and he's always insisted I watch this or that. So, for as long as I can remember, I've just been glued to the television or curled up in a seat at the cinema. We've always loved movies + he collects Hollywood memorabilia; I'm surrounded by movie history. But as for when I decided film was what I wanted to pursue– I would say it was near the end of my middle school crisis; which was the three-year period where I agonized over what I was going to do with my life (yes, dramatic) because I couldn't choose between art, literature, photography, fashion, etc. because I loved them too much. Then, I realized that film and making movies was basically all of those things into a visual product + experience, and It was a win-win if I wanted to do all the things I loved while enjoying myself and making…money?
It's such a diverse feild, I agree with you. So many great things wrapped into one beautiful experience.
Yeah– it's everything. Everything in the world can be translated through film, if it's done right. And when it's done, you have this creation; like a ?time capsule of a moment, a story, the beauty, the poetry of whatever the film is composed of into a language of visuals and emotion.
Perfectly said!
I subscribed to Nerdwriter so I'll remember to check it out later. The name by itself sounds promising. Have you heard of Overly Sarcastic Productions?
And I quite agree. Film can be such a malleable, rich, and diverse experience. And the ability to work in that field… it's so wonderful to imagine. I had the great experience of getting to see (and minimally work on) an indy film set.
I can get you the movie if you want.
I think I've watched a vid or two from Overly sarcastic Productions… I'll have to go back and check them out.
Btw, Nerdwriter has a vid about Interstellar. It's not really positive, but I do agree with a lot of what he says. In fact, most of what he says. But I just can't personally bash Interstellar lol.
And yes! What's the title?? That must've been so fun!
Trope Talks by Red is the best part for writers.
And here's the film.
Very cool
Thanks. It was an amazing week.
What'd you get to work on?
My main yt channel for film analyses is Like Stories of Old. There's a video on Interstellar, which is great. My favourite one is the one on Inception (one of my fav. movies). I like this channel cause it's got really good audio + HD clips, and the guy's views on these concepts are really thoughtful and kind of…philosophical?
hmm~ It's neat. The editing, I think is great, and the audio/soundtrack of the short film is really clear. And considering it's an indie film, possibly student-made?– it's impressive. And you got to help out with it? !!wow!
I just watched Inception the other day! Loved it
So I was mostly just a student that was watching. But I lifted stuff and patched things with gaff tape and sprayed down walls and sat in place as a prop for the camera man, Max, and took apart the set and stored pieces in the trailer.
I'll check out LSoO.
Inception is one of my top five's. I don't usually like rewatching stuff but i've seen this maybe…six times? Idk, Christopher Nolan movies are always fun to watch.
Oh, so like a grip? that's cool.
Yeah, pretty much a grip.
Is anyone excited for the new Dune movie?
No idea what.
Have you heard about the book by Frank Herbert, Dune?
