Adira couldn't help as she found herself chuckle at Raina's attempt to match her wingspan, "My wings are quite large, I'll agree with that. Claite mountain dweller's homes are the largest of the bunch so our wings have room, even though they're not much bigger." She slowly unfurled her wings a little further, stopping when the bandages protested, "It's because of our wings that our houses are small. We need space for them, outside of the walls, where we can fly. So we try to use up as little of that space as possible. Our homes are large enough to still be comfortable though."
She was quiet for a moment as she listened to Raina answer her question, nodding as she thought, "That's not as many people as I thought, but still a decent number living in here. Does everyone get their own room? Is that why there are so many?"
"The servants live in the servant quarters, which is away from the main part of the castle but yes, they do have their own rooms." Raina said as she moved out of the way of Adira's wings. "Most of the servants are here to serve the royal family, along with the royal guard which protect the castle and the royal family, not like their are too many of us." Raina explained, mumbling the last part to herself.
"How many people are in the royal family?" She asked, pulling her wings back in as she slowed for a minute to stare into one of the rooms that had an open door. It didn't look very important, just a giant, mostly empty room. It was still something to look at though, and Adira wondered what it was used for.
"Three at the moment, but not for long." Raina said with a sigh, thinking of her father. "My father is not well."
Raina noticed Adira looking into the room. "Interested in the ballroom?" She asked as she opened the other door, revealing how truly big it was.
She frowned when she heard about Raina's father, "Is he sick?" Before she could wait for an answer though, the other door opened and Adira was gawking at just how massive the ballroom was. "What do you use this room for?" She asked, stepping into it and turning in a slow circle as she took in the entire view. It was large enough that she could easily spread her wings and fly around if she wanted, and there was the room that she could even do flips in the air.
"This is the ballroom. It's used for parties and gatherings. This is also where I used to get dance lessons when I was younger." Raina explained as she walked into the room. "And yes. My father is ill."
Light from the sunset through the stain glass windows that portrayed several different scenes. Two woman dancing together, A man with a castle in the background, a woman and a man exchanging stories, and a man and a woman playing with a child.
"Is there a story behind the pictures in the windows? Or just decoration?" She asked, following the sunset's light as it filtered through the windows and left pretty colors dancing over the floor. Even though Adira didn't plan on being on this land for very long, she wanted to see what this room looked like when there was a party in it. Her face showed her amazement and liking of this room as she walked further into it, feeling quite small in the large ballroom.
"If there is one, I don't know it." Rania admitted with a shrug. "I'm partial to that window though." She said, pointing at the window with the two dancing women. "The colors and the imagery are beautiful. Sometimes if the sun hits it right, it looks like their actually dancing."
There were windows similar to stained glass ones on the island, but Aria could confidently say she had never seen any with a picture built into it. Especially a picture as well built and detailed as the one with the women dancing. "Its a really pretty window, I agree, the colors and actual image are gorgeous."
"Well, I'm glad you like it." Raina said with a smile. "Shall we continue wits the tour of the castle? Are their any specific places you would want to see?"
"I don't know what other places are in the castle, so wherever you lead me is good enough," Adira replied, studying the window for one last minute before turning and heading for the doors again. She wanted to stay and study the window longer, but also wanted to see more of the castle, seeing as it interested her more. Plus wandering through the castle would relieve her energy from being cooped up in a room all day.
