OK, so I had this brain bubble for my main race (Voluceus/Voluci) that they would all have Heterochromia and basically its just part of there genetics. So I was brain brewing the females would always pass down there left peeper color to there children and the male would pass the right peeper color. So like if a male Voluceus had right:green and left:blue and the female had right:brown and left:hazel then the children would have right:green and left:hazel. (I hope that makes sense) But I didn't know if I should use that brain bubble because I didn't know if it was a cool feature of the race or if it is extra and pointless and will get to confusing and hard to remember for readers. Let me know what you think, should I use it or no? Thanks!

@Yamatsu

I mean, it sounds cool to me. It doesn't sound like there are any magical associations with it or the peeper colors give them schmancy powers, so you'd just have a race with a lot more variance with the peepers. shrugs

hi~ I think using it as a distinct feature for a race seems like a good brain bubble! As for confusing, maybe you could try explaining it in a casual way like; "The one iris of hazel passed on by his mother, and the other, green from his father." ? :)

I don't think this is a bodge brain bubble or anything, but what if the female has the same left peeper colour as the male's right?

If that happened then the children would be born with both of their peepers the same color, and it would just be like a rare unique trait. It wouldn't happen often though, because Voluci have a larger array of peeper colors than humans, so the chances of falling in love with someone who has the same color opposite peeper than you, would be slim, but not impossible. So I like to think it would be pretty cool when it happens, since it's a rare occurrence.

I think this would open up some interesting conflicts AKA shunning of non-heterochromatic members of the species or the exact opposite: Veneration of non-heterochromatic members of the species.
