"Just show up on time, and we wouldn't be having the conversation right now," Venus poked Ender's arm playfully.
"Just show up on time, and we wouldn't be having the conversation right now," Venus poked Ender's arm playfully.
Blaine rolled her eyes in exasperation.
"Exactly, if you actually get here on time, sure! Be my guest." She waved her hand in annoyance. "But for today, water."
"WELL YOU WEREN'T THE ONE WHO HAD TO SNEAK OUT THE WINDOW AND GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC FOR THIRTY MINUTES, BLAINE!" He threw his hands up.
Blaine's nostrils flared, and she closed her eyes for a moment. She took a few deep breaths and opened her eyes, which flashed with the anger she was trying to keep in check.
She gestured to the water, and, in an oddly calm voice, said, "Please go do the water, Ender."
She turned to face the others, a calm expression forced onto her face.
"Does anybody else want to try my patience?" she asked, her voice still calmer than she really was.
He glared at her. "Okay, Blaine…" He walked over to the counter and crossed his arms.
Venus followed him over and, smiling shyishly, picked up two water bottles.
Ender eyed her suspiciously. "What are you doing? You better not spill those and blame it on me. Blaine would have my head!"
"Why am I running this thing?" Blaine muttered under her breath before pasting on a fake smile and walking to the front to open. "Gonna open, now!" she shouted to the other teens.
Throwing the doors wide open, she greeted the customers in a falsely-cheery voice, "Hello-hello-hello! Welcome to the haunted house! We are now officially open, so come on in and get your tickets!"
"I'm not!" Venus replied sharply, blushing and looking away. "I was going to help. But if it's not ok…" she trailed off and began to walk towards the crowd coming in.
"NO! Its okay…you can help if you want…."
Venus took in a deep breath and turned around. "Ok," she said, picking up two water bottles again.
Ender leaned on the counter. "Why do we even sell water?" He huffed. "Do they need to lubricate their voices for optimal screaming or something?"
"Something like that," Venus replied, hiding her smile with a piece of her hair.
(Is she…is she…crushing on him….)
(Is it… is it… ok?)
(YES!)
(Oh YAY! I thought you were upset.)
(NEVER!)
Ender grabbed a bottle and started drinking the contents.
"Ender, you'd better not be drinking the water again!" Blaine shouted back, not even having to look to know what he was doing.
He slammed the empty bottle down on the counter. "ITS NO LIKE WE DON'T HAVE MORE!" He said gesturing to the counter.
Blaine ignored him and took her first group through the "haunted" house. Knowing where and who everyone was assured that she didn't jump or get scared when the rest of the group did. She smiled at their frightened looks and reactions.
When they reached the end, she shot Ender a look as she politely offered the group waters.
Ender smiled and handed out water to the people. "They look shook." He remarked quietly to Venus.
Hearing Ender's quiet remark, Blaine bit her lip to keep from laughing as she let the group out the doors. She walked back to the front to lead another group.
Venus snickered. She noticed another group coming in and Blaine was already leading another group. "I'm going to lead that group through. I'll be back," Venus said, pointing at the waiting customers and heading off. "Follow me please," she smiled at the people and started down the path towards Spider Hollow. (Idk, is that good?)
(sounds fine to me…)
Ender waited for the next group. He was still bored but he could wait.
(Sounds good to me, too.
Should we skip to closing?)
(Sure.)
"Have a frightening day!" Venus called out after the last customers. She turned around again and grabbed a bottle of water. "That little boy! UGH! He kept grabbing my leg every time something jumped at him and I couldn't move!" She griped.
Ender frowned. "I hope you didn't push him away. He was probably terrified!"
