Hush little child,

The day has been long.

Night is now falling,

The wind sings a song.

It hails the heroes

And mourns the dead.

But heed me not, child

And rest your head.

Your weary eyes close

And softly you sigh.

Your innocent ears

Are deaf to my cry

You sleep to the sound

Of the death bell's toll

It mourns for the fallen

Every dead man's soul

So dream on now

Though the winds be wild

Oh alas, little lad

Poor fatherless child

(happy 4th of July)

Red

Searching for blood in a salty sea
Skeleton hands reach out towards me
I hear bloody waves shredding my face
I don't understand whoever called this grace
You leave me to choke on other people's blood
I'm not ready to hold my breath
I'm not prepared to ignore death
Here we go, but I'm too dirty!
Down, down, down, this can't be mercy
You leave me in the dark
Straining for something, some kind of sign
Stars are onyx, wet bones shine
All I can see are remains of people I never knew
Is this my life, is this what you want me to do?
You leave me isolated and too alone
Is it only in hell that there are vengeful ghosts?
Or in heaven are there suicides, like you the host?
I don't belong here, but neither did they
If they got to leave, why should I want to stay?
You leave me with mistakes

White

When we were young, we never thought we'd die
When you're a big girl, you say 'ouch', you don't cry
The teenagers are angry, the adults just yell
But the little kids, they haven't yet been through hell
We'd play with our dolls, we'd crown ourselves kings
While the big kids just played with their phones on the swings
Now we've forgotten how to breathe, how to laugh, how to play
Forgotten who it is that won't let us say what we want to say
As children, we didn't notice when someone else was upset
And we didn't feel guilt, because we didn't obsess about it
Now our innocence is gone, white crushed under the weight of black
So let's avoid the salty kids, because now there's no looking back

Blue

Blue was the color of summer skies
Blue is the sound of drowned men's cries
Blue is supposed to be calming but it's not to me
Blue seems too invincible, usually
Blue was what you thought of when someone said 'water'
Blue is the color of Lady Liberty, but she was copper
Blue is overwhelmingly full, like the ocean
Blue just reminds me why I won't be chosen
Blue was a sign of royalty, before
Blue became a sign of an internal war
Blue is nothing but apathy and sorrow
Blue is my reminder that we lost our tomorrow
Blue is in Easter and the 4th of July
Blue is the sound of the New World's lies
Blue is a cool color, not hot like red
But blue is more violent, because blue means cold and dead

Usually I’m
Not one to talk and
usually I
Don’t stutter like this and
usually I
Can say what I mean
And usually my
Thoughts work out right
Suddenly I’m
A bit of a mess and
suddenly I
Can’t disappear and
suddenly I’m
Not in a fantasy but
suddenly the
World feels the same.
Usually you’d
Never catch my eye and
Usually you’re
Not even in my mind
Usually you
Stay in your life and
Usually you
Stay out of mine but
suddenly you
Are all I can think of and
Suddenly you
Seem so much more real and
Suddenly you’re
A part of my life and
Suddenly you’re
The face in my dreams.
The world doesn’t
Make sense anymore
And I can’t hear
My thoughts
All I can hear is
A distant drum but
Wait, that’s my heartbeat.
What have you
Done to me?
I was fine
Without you but
Now nothing
Makes sense.
There’s no
Order or rhyme except
For the drumming of
My heart
And the struggling of
My lungs to
Make words come.
What have you done?

I know I'm late to this but here it is (written at 12 am)

Restlessness feels like static
swirling and buzzing
my head
on the verge of doing everything and nothing
I hate it
mind feels flat
incomplete
unmotivated
tired
clock ticking ticking
hour running running
running away
feet stuck in lead
and hand in glue
poison slowly drips drips
down down
my throat
and my eyes are slowly closing
hands in my head and
they grip they suffocate they squeeze
I'm running running out of time
late late
I'm gonna be late
wait
there's nothing to do
nothing nothing to do
nothing to do
nothing to do
restlessness feels like static

(I know this one sounds a little more like a rap, but…)

Hey!
What's happening to our constitution?
Falling apart is US resolution,
Seems we need a crazy solution,
So maybe I should fire up a revolution.

Say!
Set it off, who all's in?
Like a grenade just lost it's pin,
to continue like this is just a sin,
like a drunkard losin' life to gin.

So!
Grab the guns, 'fore government can enfringe,
Imma go on a complete justice binge,
But do we really need a bloody tinge?
'Cause, like our torches, words'll singe.

Whoa!
Guess I had a momentary daydream,
'Cause nobody's brave enough to stick outta the mainstream,
This idea's like making ice outta effin steam,
And a singe everyone will nurse with burn cream.

So Imma drop the mic and let you decide,
if this is the life you want to live or die.

Ah, I see. The beat is great, and it definitely conveys emotion. I really like it.

@Knight-Shives group

I know you'll never see me
But I understand
I'm invisible
Never seen
Never heard
Standing in plain sight
Yet not seen
I see everyone
But nobody sees me
I saw you glance my way once
But I know you looked past me
Or at a friend on my side
Because I'm invisible
And unseen by all

I SEE YOU. YOU ARE AN AWESOME POET. YOUR FREE VERSE IS GORGEOUS AND I WANT TO PUT IT TO MUSIC.
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.

@shattered_heart

Met my mother at the door
And my heart filled with dread
I hung my head low
As these words she said.

"Why are you stressed?
You dont have problems like me."
Maybe you're right
But we handle them differently.

You stress and you scold,
I claw at my skin
Let the crimson blood out
And the insecurities in.

Dermatillomania
A skin picking disorder.
But you care about your reputation
And not your own daughter.

Alone in the bathroom
Watching her scar
Begging this isn't you
It's not who you are.

The girl in the mirror
Has tears in her eyes
And now I'm convinced
I have been telling her lies.

She can never be beautiful
With all of those flaws
So I watch in guilty silence
As she claws and claws.

Dermatillomania
A skin picking disorder.
But you care about your reputation
And not your own daughter

Look at my arms
The disease had spread.
But all you can say is
You got blood on the bed.

But what is a pillow
Or a blanket or two?
What about your poor daughter
Who is feeling more than just blue?

But what would you care
For your daughter's health?
I know the family name
Is your delusional wealth.

Dermatillomania
A skin picking disorder.
But you care about your reputation
And not your own daughter.

Say goodbye to that child you knew
Her dreams and happiness all fled away
The demons you placed in her head
Now hold them at bay.

Does it make you feel better
That you destroyed that child?
Do you feel happy now?
It's months since she smiled.

She wont go out
Her face is too scarred
Inside and out,
She knows she's too marred.

Dermatillomania
A skin picking disorder.
But you care about your reputation
And not your own daughter.

You made her this way
When you chose the name
But she is the one,
Who lives with the shame.

(just did this in a few minutes)

I love those days,
When I can watch Blue Jays,

Hot coffee in my hand,
At my window I stand,

And daydream of the time,
I'll get to hear bells chime,

Dress white as snow,
Or black as ink flow,

My life beginning or my life ending,
Both sound peaceful, my heart mending,

As I watch snow flurry outside,
I'll let fate be my guide,

But for now, down I'll set my mug,
So I can wrap my Love in a hug….

Words are my life,
Lyrics, my love.
Songs are my savior,
Verses are enough.

They kept me up,
Through rise and fall.
Just me and the lines,
and that was all.

I poured my soul into the songs
that no one ever sang.
I cried my tears onto the notes
That never really rang.

I put them out for all to see
but no one cared to look.
And all the words that no one heard
Could fill the biggest book.

And as the stanzas get longer still,
no one’s going to care.
As I send out another poem
to fall in empty air.

It’s not so much that I want my poems to be popular or whatever so much as describing how it is for a ton of writers.
