He side glanced her "It's perfectly normal 'down here.' There's nothing 'not okay' down here. It's just what your interpretation is. I'm following all and every rule you and your Olympian friends have instilled." He shook his head and passed a group of people walking by happily. "See? the souls of the dead are happy here. They live in eternal happiness and harm free."
She nods, "Uh huh, anyways I'm supposed to stay down here for a few days…" Caria wanted to get inside his head, see what she could help him with. "I just hope nothing will scar my innocent, "She elaborates 'innocent', "mind."
"Nothing should ruin my innocent down here right Lios?" She asks, turning to look at him.
He rolled his eyes, though secretly glad she was staying for longer than a few hours "There is no innocence in your mind my dear." He led her to the river Styx and bend down, gesturing for her to do the same. "Put your hand in the water. You'll Feel a sharp tug. Once you do, pull up gently and do not let go."
"Uh why?" She says crouching next the river. "How is there no innocence in my mind Lios?" She was so close getting inside his mind.
"I'm as innocent as innocent can get." She says, looking at the male.
"you're a grown woman. I highly doubt you've kept your mind free of infidelities and other fun things that go on up there in your precious Olympus." he sneered. He rolled his sleeve up and reached into the water. Lios waited a few seconds before pulling up and standing with a woman. He handed the Girl a blanket and led her to the throne room "get her husband." He instructed Persephone
"Oh so you think I can't be innocent?" She asked, kinda harshly.
He glanced over his shoulder "since when do you gods and goddesses care what I think? I'm getting in your head my dear, now that's a dangerous thing to hold." He led the woman to the palace to dry up.
Caria doesn't say anything. She just needed to get into her head.
"who are you…?" The woman asked "where's my husband? Where am I?"
Lios looked down at the woman with kind eyes "you're safe. This is the underworld. Your husband will be joining us soon enough." Lios responded with kindness and patience. "Right now, we need to get you warmed up." He led her to a bathroom "there are clothes and a shower." He said turning away "come out when you feel ready." Lios walked back out side "You seemed shocked Caria. Might I ask as to why?"
"it's nothing Lios…' She trailed off, not wanting to talk about it. "Is there anything you need help with?"
He fell to one knee and tilted her head up to meet his eyes "you're a liar. Do you know that? and a terrible one at that." He released her "help her while I get her husband." he muttered, rolling his sleeve up and reaching into the water
"I can't just be super open with people. I need privacy too!" She says before going to help the woman.
Lios rolled his eyes and felt a sharp tug, this one almost pulling him into the river. He pulled up a young man, around the same age as the woman. Once out of the water, he immediately pinned Lios to the ground "where is she?!"
He looked calmly back at the man and gently pried his hands away from him "she's safe and in good hands."
"Who's hands…" the man growled.
"trusted ones. Come, we need to get you a new pair of clothes. wouldn't want to meet your wife looking like that now would we?" Lios asked, standing and brushing himself off
"Who are you? and how-"
" how do I know she said yes to your proposal before the king slaughtered you? Call it a hunch. I'm Lios, god of the Underworld."
Caria came back with the woman, "Lios?"
The man kneeled immediately and sputtered apologies "Forgive me, my lord, I did not realize."
Lios shook his head and helped the man up "don't be, I get it a lot." he glanced back at Caria and the woman and waved her over "I do believe you were expecting your wife sir?"
The woman ran to her husband and tackled him in a hug
Lios smiled "We'll give you your time. Come to me if you have any questions." He said, walking away
"was there something you needed?" He asked Caria
"I was wondering if you needed anything." She says, a light blush on her cheeks.
He breathed a laugh "nothing but your wonderful company my dear." he said smoothly, noticing her blush. Once they were back inside the castle, he shut the door behind them and faced Caria "now tell me, why are you really here?"
"I got kicked out of Olympus. Someone blamed me…" Caria says, the blush still there on her cheeks.
He glared in suspicion "I highly doubt that they kicked you out. What'd you do? Kill a sacred animal to help a starving village?" He sighed
"No…It much more than one simple thing. I swear. It's only for a couple weeks. And I thought since we grew up together…I could stay here…" She says sheepishly, the blush slowly fading.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise "You hated me when we were kids. I wouldn't necessarily call that growing up together." He shrugged indifferently, not being able to say no to her, even if she made his childhood a living nightmare "fine. There's a guest bedroom next to my room. You can use that as your living quarters."
"It wasn't my fault Hecate paid me to get in your head," She smirked finally gaining the confidence to talk to him.
He rolled his eyes and paced around her "course she did. I think she hated me more than you did. Which is understandable but still. Love the grudge!" He grinned childishly
"I hated when you fucking interrupted my witchcraft class…" Caria smiles remembering that.
"Correction, I didn't interrupt. I made it better for the whole class. That explosion was an improvement." he defended, slowly getting closer
Caria got closer too, "I was held back because of you."
He put a hand to his heart and tilted his head "I'm not sorry about that." he grinned and winked "I was kicked out if that makes you feel any better."
"It doesn't make me feel better. I had to repeat everything!" She said stepping closer to Lios, and she puts and hand on his chest, "Thanks to you."
