So basically I'm writing a story about a teenage girl named Alex that gets her family captured by an alien organization called Lex et Ordo. Then Alex herself gets captured by two aliens, but they all have a common enemy (Lex et Ordo) and decide to work together to destroy the organization. There's a lot of death, and I might throw in some romance to put readers at ease when shit gets bad, but overall the story includes a lot of loss and hardships, and Alex has to work through her grief and learn how to survive through the situations that seem impossible.
Your plot outline seems pretty solid so far, though I have one question: Why did her family get captured? Was it an 'it had to happen to someone' situation, or did her family do something in particular?
Also, out of curiosity, does Lex et Ordo stand for something?
I have the same question about why she and her family are getting kidnapped by two separate alien groups, groups that also happen to be enemies. Are she and her family valuable to aliens in general?
Yeah, Alex doesn't know either. She just knows that Lex et Ordo is after her as well. She always asks her two alien allies why the organization is after her, but they always tell her that they don't know. Also, Lex et Ordo is "Law and Order" lmaooo. I might change it though.
It's reasonable that the characters themselves might not know, but you still need a reason for them to be doing it. An organization named Law and Order would probably not randomly kidnap a bunch of humans, unless it was somehow a life-or-death situation.
But then her two alien pals must have wanted her too. Was it to sell her to Lex et Ordo?
Maybe humans are a valuble species, as they only live on one planet. It could be a black market trade on the ailens part.
So the reason that Alex and her family were kidnapped is because the organization found out that Alex wasn't actually human, she was a humanoid species that people thought had been killed off long ago. They want to destroy her and her family because they believe that she is extremely dangerous. They kidnapped her family first because they couldn't get to Alex yet.
Also, the reason that the two aliens are traveling with her is because one of them (Aria) knows that Alex is not human. The other (Polar) has no idea, but owes Aria a favor, so he agreed to travel with them and protect them both.
So does that mean Alex's family are also not human, or was she adopted? I'm guessing they either kidnapped her family because they were also that special race, or to use them as hostages to get to Alex?
They weren't sure about what race her family was. After they are captured, they find that the family is human, and start using them as hostages to lure Alex in.
Does that sound good then? Any flaws with it? Because I'm starting to want to settle on a solid plot and begin writing this story, lol
