Unlike other magic, mine is divided into power levels.

Tier ones are the two base powers for everything: Light and dark
Tier twos are the three main powers: Fire, Earth, Sky

Tier twos and ones are often used when classifying powers, the stereotypical call out (IE: "Wow thats a cool earth type power!". Tier twos are also random mixes (or breedings) of the Tier ones. Random example: (Fire is 75% light magic and 25% dark magic for the smoke that comes after: Earth magic is 50/50 for the depths it can hold and the light and life it can project: Sky, 75% dark magic for the storms and water, 25% for lighting and the air.)

The tiers are infinite, all magics are compatible.

But, there are Godtiers.

Godtiers have more mental effects in their powers. I currently have three Godtiers, their powers are "Sanity Osmosis", "Emotional perception/eruption" and "Time manipulation". These are extremely complicated powers but you can read on them on the character's pages which are set to public (Oliver, Rose, and Cedar Rullond).
They have horrible side effects, able to easily kill the owner.

How do you get a Godtier?
Simple. Okay, not simple… The persons must have every elemental power from tiers 1-6 running through their veins closely, ie parents to great grandparents. This means that the person must have over 4,800 powers in their bloodline.

Pretty insane but I'm going to leave this off here, this is pretty long.

@jantz

in my world there are a few very broad categories of magic with a lot of subcategories, but i'll just be listing and describing the main categories.

Destruction Magic - this is basically just a form of Magic that's very forceful and most times… well, destructive
Hypnotic Magic - any spell that messes with peoples minds, whether it be a simple sleep spell or a paralysis spell.
Bodily Magic - spells that are meant to enhance the users body or mind functions. these spells can vary from increasing you running speed, enhancing you skin durability, making you think faster for an extended amount of time, or healing yourself or allies.
Reality Warping - most of the spells are illegal because they can be very stupid and dangerous. Reality warping just changes the way the space-time continuum works or just messes with reality as a whole.
Soul Spells - this type of magic is deemed very illegal and is banned in both worlds. Soul spells can mess with peoples fates, raise the dead, and instantly kill people. very not good
Void Warping - the void is an area between universes with energy that holds infinite potential.

MAGIC USERS:
MAGUS AND ELEMENTUS:

Magus either are Single Magus or Duality Magus, a Single Magus has only the use of one 'element' at its full potential, and a Duality Magus, which are super uncommon, due to the idea of bleedthrough – where the user has a very very limited use of typically opposing element one to two abilities. Bleedhtrough makes it uncommon due to a magus wanting to expand more on the subject of the third or fourth element and end up expanding their horizon and making themselves technically a Half Elementus. Albeit super limited.

Elementus either come as Half Elementus or Full Elementus. The title of Elementus is more common than a Magus, as bleedthrough is considered to be use in that element. So. A Duality Magus with two bleedthrough elements has 4 elements. While Full Elementus has use of all 7 Elements.

But. With use of all 7 elements, Elementus's abilities are weaker than a normal Magus using that same ability, as magic takes time to develop. If one was to focus all their time in only one element, they're much more powerful in that element than one who spent that same amount of time but spread among more.

Alright, there is two types of magic in my world. True Magic and New Magic.
True Magic is the magic of the universe, and involves the forces of Time, Space, Physics etc..
New Magic is the magic that has been created by humans. It controls individual elements (and sub elements), such as: Lightning/Fulmo, Water/Akvo, Earth/Tero. New Magic can also control lesser forces, such as: Shadow/Ombro, Light/Lumo, Death/Morto.
(New Magic is spoken and used in the language Esperanto, for both of them are artificial in nature.)

True Magic is more powerful (obviously), and it's Mages are few and far between. Registered wizards of this magic are numbered about thirty in the entire world.
New Magic while less powerful, is used by more people. Millions of people can implement this magic, and magical guilds and organizations have sprung up all over the globe.

Most mages can only use a couple limited spells. More proficient wizards can use an entire element/force or multiple ones.
These are the more popular magic used (by normal people):
-Personal Magic: A magic that only affects the user. (Cosmetic changes mostly)
-Warding Magic: Protection magic which guards an object. (Living objects cannot be recipient)
(More in this category later)

Any dangerous magic is classified into the colors of the rainbow. (Technically, other magic is classified into colors too, but to keep it simple.)
Red- Incredibly Dangerous
Orange- Very Dangerous
Yellow- Caution
Green-Little Risk
Blue-Almost None
Indigo- Teensy Weensy
Violet- None
(More later, cause I got to get off)

@hollow-boned

my book is mostly focused on the effect religion can have when it's directly involved in governmental decisions, BUT
my princess love interest secretly learns how to do fortune telling on beauty spots and other body markings, kinda like palm reading but not on the palm. and it's hypothetically just a superstition for commoners, but if done properly it turns out weirdly accurate.
there's stuff like, if there's three moles in a triangle or clustered together, that person has a lot of luck; a mole on the wrist means they're very good at matters of the heart, etc.
