The worlds would probably be separated (cuz the tree connects them) and some worlds might start to die?
Would anyone die? i dont know if it would effect Helgafjell, Hel, Valhalla and Fólkvangr but i think it might affect the human world in some way any ideas?
It would affect all forms of life. In the tales, Yggdrasil is the basis of all life, and at the bottom of the tree, there is the well of life where the norns thread the future. If the tree wilted, it would mean something happened to the well, and thus, all the world on the tree would slowly break apart. Midgard would very heavily be affected, because the world snake wouldn't be sustained and if he dies, the world will literally break in half. Vallhalla would be affected (But technically it would be Asgard being affected, since Vallhalla is actually just a hall in Asgard) in short- all life would end and we'd go back to what we were before Auðumbla sowed the seed of Yggdrasil.
I hope this helped and if you have any more questions about Norse Mythology/religions let me know, man :)
well, in the myths the death of the tree starts ragnarok….
I would go for the Ragnarok story here.
This would also be a good time to bring in some botany facts. You see, plants hold together the soil they use. Especially on the edge of a river or similar. Otherwise, the dirt just washes away.
And since Yggdrasil is the World Tree, the worlds it connects will start to wear away back to primordial dirt. So I would have the worlds start to literally fall apart, from their very core. It would be like removing the electromagnetic field from around Earth. Everything that would kill us if the Earth wasn't just right is suddenly unchallenged.
These are all interesting ideas. I think that, if Yggdrasil died, then the squirrel, Ratatoskr would have to go somewhere or die with the tree if he's connected. Also, no one would be able to travel between the worlds and if the roots were holding up the earth, then we would all die.
I'm not sure, though. I'm more interested in Greek and Roman mythology. Also a little bit of Egyptian mythology…
I say that you should definitely take a look at Ragnarok. Also, maybe look into the way the sun and moon traveled and see if you can get any inspiration from those mythological characters. You could write a prophetic scene or something; just an idea.
It's called the "life tree" so I don't think that would make sense for it to die or wilt. If Yggdrasil died, then the "world tree" couldn't be accessed and in Asgardian mythology, it's used to travel among the seven worlds

I agree or it could be like the source of all magic. In order for magic to exist all realms and worlds must be linked but if they are severed than magic could die.
I think the worlds will die, and yes, Ragnarok
