(My gosh… I think I slept a bit too much, freaking eleven hours XD)
”We are different… Nightmare…” Snowstorm claimed. He turned to face the ‘villain’. ”You fight for your own silly dreams… we fight for the greater good of the world…” He claimed, charging at Zeke and throwing him down from the balcony. He then used the ledge as a jumping pad, following Zeke down before being met with a concrete plate straight to the face.
Being close to the ground, Nightmare would’ve landed on the hard dirt but instead was met with an elastic layer of a grayish trampoline. Pastel gave a small smirk and a thumbs up before using the same color to remove the concrete plate by Snowstorm, allowing him to free fall.
As Inferno was practically stuck, she quickly rushed at him and absorbed the color of his costume; a bright red. She breathed heavily, as she would after controlling three colors within the span of five minutes. She now had the advantage over Snowstorm if Zeke wasn’t able to finish him as he was free falling but she thought of it more as a last resort thing as, more likely than not, Nightmare would be able to do that. No matter how agile and strong Snowstorm was, being in a free fall meant he had figuratively no control over most of his movements.
(Well, look at the bright side– It's better than sleeping no hours! XD Staying up tol 2 AM roleplaying might have something to do with your need for extra sleep. I mean, I'm no expert, buuuuut…)
Zeke was somewhat startled upon making contact with a harmless trampoline rather than slamming against the pavement below. He'd fell from plenty ledges and rooftops before without being quick enough to teleport to safety, so he knew how it felt to crack an elbow or a tailbone or a knee against the hard ground. Not fun. Which is why he appreciated it all the more that he was able to avoid that for now, thanks to Evelyn.
After recovering his senses from the fall– which he was able to do almost immediately since Evelyn had prevented him from getting harmed– he immediately teleported to meet Snowstorm as he hit the ground, swinging the hilt of his blade and slamming it into the man's jaw. Zeke twisted it around the other way then, blade forward, trying to evaluate his opponent to see if there was any armor present, or if he would need to find a weak spot.
"Greater good?"he echoed with a slight scoff. "I don't see what's so great or good about you two coming here in the middle of the night to attack someone."
Especially not anyone so sweet or kind as Evelyn– but he wasn't willing to voice that opinion out loud just yet.
(I can't yell how wonky this post is because I'm only half awake, so apologies for any incoherency XD Also, if this were an anime or TV series, I think I'd waste too many hours of my life watching it and I barely even watch TV shows)
(It’s 4 AM where you’re at, isn’t it? Go to sleep!)
(Also, yes, I can fully agree on the too much watch time part XD)
( oh uh well I mean– yeah okay so maybe it's 4:05 am and maybe I should be asleep but I should be a lot of things that I'm not sOOO… Besides, time is simply a number made to limit us, is it not? … Then again, maybe I ought to heed your wise counsel and sleep before my eyeballs burn out of their sockets XD)
(I mean… it is completely up to you to decide whether you’re gonna sleep or whether you’re gonna just stay awake to see the sunrise in two more hours XD)
(Actually I think it's mostly up to the limitations of my mortal human body. I'd be awake indefinitely if it were up to me, but apparently people are supposed to sleep for some odd reason that's beyond my comprehension. XD)
Snowstorm was quite surprised when Nightmare came to him. He, though, was able to kick Zeke off of him and jump backwards, bleeding just slightly from the cut. His cloak was a bit torn and cut here and there. Zeke’s theory was correct, he did have a layer of armor on which left his neck an opening that showed his skin.
”A traitor to the hero’s world is nothing but a villain… our job as actual heroes is to execute these traitors… we are doing our job here…” he aimed his claws at Nightmare ”…and you are making this harder for the both of us…” when he finished, a storm of cold icicle shards rushed at both Zeke and Evelyn…
However…
A flaming wall came from behind Zeke and almost immediately evaporated the icicles.
”Whoo! These flames of yours are flamin’ hot Warren!” Evelyn cheered, her hand on fire.
Snowstorm was clearly annoyed and was going to send out another wave of icicles, perhaps more reinforced ones but unfortunately, Lynn did not allow that. She created a geyser of flames from behind him, pushing him towards Zeke without anywhere to go.
(I’m jealous that you have such a wonderful ability XD)
(I'm jealous that you're playing Animal Crossing XD me over here playing Minecraft by myself cuz I have no friends and no life )
It was safe to say that Warren, in his prison of darkness, was pouting about the turn of events and very unhappy with the way things had gone thus far. But he'd have to get over it because things didn't seem to be looking up for him anytime soon.
Out of reflex, Zeke had thrown an arm to shield his face– namely his eyes and neck, as they weren't shielded by his mask– from the oncoming icicles– but apparently that was unnecessary, because Evelyn had that covered too.
First water, then darkness, then concrete now flames– not to mention the chains that she used to beat him the night before.
Zeke was impressed. This chic was incredibly adaptable. Way more adaptable than him, frankly.
But he'd worry about that later.
He had a hero to destroy for now.
He didn't wonder whether it would be wrong for him to kill Snowstorm or not. Maybe he should've, but– not really. Considering he was essentially a psychopath, Zeke was pretty sure he'd have no regrets.
The opening on Snowstorm's neck where the open skin was present became Zeke's target, and he had no intentions on missing. Maybe getting close to the guy would be dangerous– but, that wasn't going to stop him. Evelyn had created a perfect opportunity for him. So, he rushed at his foe, blade in hand, ready to make the swift kill strike…
(Please don’t be jealous, this was the first time I’ve played something outside free PC games ;-;)
Of course, with a great ability comes a great weakness. No matter how strong or agile Snowstorm was, his body was physically weak. With that one slice to the neck… let’s just say his head was completely separated from the rest of his body.
Now, the clean up was clearly going to be fun… and Warren remained as well. As long as he was trapped there inside that sphere, he really had nowhere to go. Zeke was probably tired, she thought.
She looked around for something that would be… interesting to kill Warren with and she found one. She went over to Snowstorm’s hazmat mask and absorbed… the colorless glass. As what she absorbed was not entirely the color itself, but wavelengths of it, colorless was absorbable and was perhaps the easiest to control.
She first created a clear beaker which was quickly filled with a clear liquid substance. She went over to Warren as the Blackout effect wore off but not the Blackhole effect.
”Drink up…” she stated coldly.
Warren refused, as you would.
She gave him a cruel glance as a see-through opener kept Warren’s lips separated. She poured the liquid substance down without any second thought.
After a few moments, the man started to have seizures before ultimately fainting with foam coming out of his mouth alongside a pair of purple lips and an almond scent coming from his breath.
One thing to note about Evelyn’s ability was the fact that when she changes from one color to another, her clothing changes as well… and she had just absorbed…colorless or clear, as we would call it. Fortunately, she still had her vest on so not that much was exposed. Still, she didn’t realized this until she turned to face Zeke, feeling a bit too comfortable than she should be.
”Uh… uhm…” her face was bright red, part of her was embarrassed, yes, but the other half of flattered. She had done that without knowing what was coming. She still had to find a way to hide the corpses, what color might be useful here?
Warren's demise may or may not have startled Zeke a little, though he didn't show it. He hadn't really expected that the happen, and the violent way that Warren spasmed and died was… well, freaky, to say the least. Not quite what he would've expected from Evelyn, to say the least. He'd have to remind himself not to make her mad.
Though, this thought wasn't the dominant one in his mind at the moment, because he was too busy being majorly discomfited by the fact that her shirt had kind of– well, you know. It was gone. She wasn't completely exposed, but– it was still gone. And he wasn't sure how much was exposed because he didn't look long enough to find out. He was a lot of things, but a perv was not one of them.
"oH–" Zeke's eyes widened slightly upon this realization and squeaked audibly, startled, and immediately looked away. His face burned, but his mask kept that much concealed.
Evelyn looked around nervously before realizing the easiest way to take care of both situations; the corpses… and her clothes. She knelt down and absorbed the light brown color of the ground.
”I-I… It’s fine now… you can look…” she said with a nervous tone. That situation wasn’t supposed to happen yet it did.
Nevertheless, she raised her hand up and by doing so, raised a layer of land with it, creating a pit that dragged the two bodies down alongside its remains whether it be blood and or dead cells. She, all in all, replaced the landform there completely.
”L-Let’s go inside now… shall we…?” she asked, taking Nightmare by the wrist and pulling him along back into the building.
(Meanwhile…)
A puff of white smoke came out when the man of blonde sighed. Cigarette at hand, he took another whiff.
”You’re gonna keep that a secret?” andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), the police officer, asked from the rooftop they were on.
”She’s my friend… of course I’m gonna keep this a secret…” the golden eyes of the hero stayed sharp through out. They then both disappeared from the rooftop, what was left was a golden spider web.
(ooOOooh)
Zeke trailed behind her as she tugged him inside, still flustered and unsure of what to say about the whole ordeal. He wasn't remotely moved by the fact that they had killed two men. Nah. That wasn't new to him. But he was… a bit astonished by Evelyn's abilities, to say the least. And by the fact that she seemed unmoved by it, too.
"That was– impressive," he managed once they were inside, his face growing hotter. At least he had a mask. "What you did, I mean. With the fire and the black hole and stuff–"
(You’re gonna see that golden spider dude again a bit later :D)
What could Evelyn do but squeal and blush at those words?! She was so happy she could die. Well, figuratively, that is.
”Th-Th… Th-… uhm…” she had to take a deep breath ”…thanks…” she said with a flush. Her face, again, was bright red.
Her cats came out to greet her and Zeke. Kao, the white adult one, nuzzled against her leg while Topaz, the amber kitten, went to Zeke and cuddled against his leg.
She had to calm down before she would do anything. She slowly went to the curtains and closed them before taking off her outer vest, hanging it on the clothing line.
”…it’s getting late… let’s just… get some rest…” she stated, looking down at the ground with her hands together in front of her.
”…there is a spare bedroom…if you insist…”
(Yay! Golden Spider Dude! ^-^)
Zeke smiled lightly at the kitten against his leg. He, the guy who had just lobbed a man's head off without a second thought, happily gave the smol kitty a few well-deserved head pats before turning back to Evelyn.
He wasn't sure how he felt about staying in Evelyn's house. He could barely sleep in his own house, much less a stranger's. Which, she wasn't really a stranger at this point, was she? Okay, so… yeah, he'd only known her for a single day– but they'd already fought guys together. Killed people together. And, of course, there was– the kiss and whatnot.
He didn't wanna think about that too much. Made him too nervous and flustered all over again.
He cleared his throat. "Thank you." He rubbed his knuckles, a nervous tic. He almost declined, almost requested to go home rather than stay in her spare bedroom– but what if other psycho heroes came after her? He… wasn't willing to risk it. He knew good and well he'd never forgive himself if anyone killed her in the middle of the night.
Even if she was more than capable of fending for herself.
((Imagine, later down the road, the classic trope of one of them getting badly injured and the other one being concerned and having to care for them to a certain extent. Imagine it. OR even one of them getting mildly injured and still being perfectly functional but the other one going overboard with concern because they want to make sure everything is okay.))
When Zeke headed towards the spare bedroom, the smol kitten followed him to the room. The room was labeled quite clearly; ‘Spare Room’. If Zeke would open the door, he would come to a room filled with, again, drawings of heroes and villains. However, there was something different about the spare room than the living room. Most of the drawings in that room were pairs of heroes and villains in a nice mix. Some examples were Aureus Arachnid with Pastel, both showing a peace sign, Vortex with Jack o’ Lantern, both are famous nocturnal villains alongside Nightmare, though both aren’t as famous as Nightmare is, and so on.
((I WILL MAKE THAT HAPPEN XD))
( Yes >:3 approval noise )
Zeke entered the room warily– not out of distrust so much as just habit. He entered all new places warily.
His eyes scanned his surroundings as he and his tag-along stepped inside. The paintings were interesting, and he took a moment to observe each of them. Maybe a few extra seconds to observe the Aurous Arachnid and Pastel. Zeke didn't know much about the former. He may have vaguely heard of the guy, but– he was no expert on the heroes unless they had committed some misdeed to capture his attention or encountered him in battle. As for Vortex and Jack o' Lantern– well, he knows who they are, but he doesn't like being associated with them.
He doesn't like being associated with many people, for that matter.
He glanced around at the room, at the bed and everything else, examining it for a moment. Being in someone else's house felt so… odd. He wasn't sure what to make of it. And he knew he'd never get a wink of sleep. But he'd stay here overnight, anyways, if for no other reason than to watch out for Evelyn–
Not because he was necessarily worried or– or that he cared or anything. Just because it seemed like the right thing to do. She could've been at risk, for all he knew. And– he was a decent person, albeit a villain. He was just doing his job. It meant nothing.
But even the kitten knew the truth, and he mewed in objection. But, since he only spoke cat, his opinions went unheard.
(“…since he only spoke cat…” PERFECTO!!! XD)
Evelyn was originally going to sleep in her room but decided against it. She had something to work on, namely the Nightmare canvas in the living room. She sat down on the stool in front of the canvas and continued on it. This day, this night, had been rough… yet… it had been amazing at the same time. She did wonder though, what might the future hold for the both of them?
(Time skip?)
(Sure! You, or should I?)
(I can do it, I have something planned for the morning :P)
(Hooray for morning plans! XD)
The sun was rising and it was probably time Evelyn had to finish something other than the canvas. She went over to the kitchen counter and prepared somethings. Though it took nearly thirty minutes, she thought that it might’ve been worth it. At least this once. She looked over that the canvas one last time, pretty satisfied with the result of it.
Knock knock…
”Nightmare~!! GOOD MORNINGGGG~~” she rushed into the room and just jumped onto the man, hugging him while laying on top of him. She was quite an active person so this was no surprise for people who know her, that was for sure… though it might’ve given Nightmare a heart attack.
