Marlee walked into her kitchen and was greeted with all her animals running at her at once. "Hi guys!" She said, smiling. She got ice for her nose and grabbed some ice cream.
Marlee walked into her kitchen and was greeted with all her animals running at her at once. "Hi guys!" She said, smiling. She got ice for her nose and grabbed some ice cream.
Cory walked through the door and sat his stuff down. "I'm home Lee," Cory called whilst stretching. A white cat with black paws and black tipped ears and tail lightly stepped up to him and rubbed himself against his legs.
Marlee walked to her room and let her ferrets out. Boo, the smallest, climbed up her leg and on to her shoulder.
Cory flopped down on the couch and buried himself in a mass of pillows and blankets, "I almost had a fricking panic attack today, Lee…" He mumbled watching his cat clean himself, "Some girl…Marlee talked to me and I'm unsure why. Someone must've put her up to it. She's kinda pretty though." He let out a half-hearted laugh, "But who can I trust?! I've always made the wrong decisions!" He buried his face and started uncontrollably out of loneliness and self-hate.
Marlee held Boo in her arms. "Oh Boo, I meant the nicest boy today. His names Cory. He's really cute but really shy and nervous. I asked him if he was doing alright and he said he was okay but it didn't seem like he was okay." Boo looked up at Marlee. Marlee was blushing, she didn't know why exactly. Cory just had been in her mind all day. She couldn't help but smile and feel happy.
Cory calmed down after a little bit and wiped the tears from his face, "S-she's just so nice seeming and pretty. Ugh, it makes me want to snuggle or something with her…Love her…" He stared at the wall, "Feelings are hard and confusing, and damn they really hurt sometimes…"
"Boo, what do I do? He seems like a really sweet guy but he seems really scared to open up. I want him to trust me. I mean, I guess he doesn't trust girls, maybe? I don't know." Marlee looked in the mirror, her nose was no better. "Charlie!"
Lee pawed Cory in the face making him scrunch his nose up, "Meow" The Cat said. Cory got up and got some food for Lee's bowl. Lee strutted over, purring. Cory glanced at Lee then looked up, "Maybe I should give her…a chance." He drew in a deep and shaky breath. "Yes, I'll do that, I'll try to be more trusting."
"Yeah Mars? Oh god, Marlee, that looks really bad." Charlie said, taking a closer look at Marlee's nose. "Okay, we're not waiting for dad to get home, I'm taking you to an Urgent Care now." Marlee looked at him. She hated the doctors. "Fine." Marlee collected the ferrets and put them back in their cages.
Cory sat down and turned on his show, Sherlock. After a while he pulled out his sketchbook too. Around 6:40 Cory ate banana and settled back on the couch, "Mom probably won't be home until like ten again," He mumbled looking at the clock
Charlie rushed Marlee down to a nearby urgent care. "What seems to be the problem loves?" The receptionist asked. "I believe my sister broke her nose. She had a nasty fall at school today." The receptionist typed what seemed a paragraph in to her computer. "Have a seat, someone should be right with you. Marlee grabbed a magazine and sat.
Cory shut off the tv around 9:30 and headed to take a shower, I hope her nose is okay, He thought. The floors at school are definitely not soft, that's for sure… He flinched as he thought of the time when he slipped in a puddle while walking through the halls and rubbed his left arm.
"Marlee!" A nurse called. Marlee and Charlie followed the nurse back into a room. The nurse checked Marlee's nose. She also did multiple visions tests. "Well Marlee, I think you might actually have a concussion on top of a broken nose. I have to get the doctor to get a second opinion though." With that the nurse hurried out of the room.
Cory stepped out of the shower and dried himself. He then walked downstairs to see his mom taking her shoes off at the front door, "Hey, mom," He waved slightly. His mom looked up, "Hi honey. How was your day?" "Fine," He lied, "I'm going to get some ice cream and go in my room okay?" She nodded setting her purse on the counter.
"Well Marlee, you don't just have a broken nose, you also have a concussion. You go home and rest and also I'm going to write you a note that allows you to go and leave school as needed." The doctor said to Marlee. Charlie checked Marlee out and even payed for the entire thing with the money he had earned. Charlie and Marlee finally got home at 10:30. Marlee went straight to sleep.
After Cory finished his ice cream he threw away the container and fell asleep with his bangs in his face and very light snoring emitted from him.
Marlee's Cat, Periwinkle, jumped up on her bed and snuggled up next to her.
The next morning Cory awoke drowsily and got dressed. As he opened his door to go to the kitchen, he was met by Lee who was meowing for food. "Needy cat…" He mumbled tiredly and brushed his bangs from his face.
Marlee woke up with a splitting headache. She walked out to the kitchen and was greeted face to face with her father. "Well Marlee, when were you planning on telling me about that." Her father asked. "Well,, I um.." Marlee stuttered. "It;s okay, I'm only messing with you. Charlie filled me in when I got home last night." Her father laughed.
"Morning honey," His mother greeted him, "Would you like some coffee?" "Yes please," Cory smiled sleepily. He made himself a piece of toast and put his stuff near the door and gratefully took his coffee in his hands.
"Are you going in today Mars?" Charlie asked as he walked into the kitchen. "I think for the morning, I think I'm gonna go home at one though." Marlee said. "I have my college course at two, so I leave school at one, I can drive you home." Marlee nodded her head.
The bus came and Cory stepped onto the bus and avoided all eye contact and found an empty seat near the back.
Charlie and Marlee made their way to school. "If you need to leave any earlier let me know, I can always take you home sooner." Charlie said looking over at Marlee. "Okay, thanks." Marlee responded, looking out the window.
Once the bus stopped at school, Cory let everyone else get off the bus before he did and headed to the door head down staring at the sidewalk.
Marlee jumped down out of the truck and Charlie grabbed her bag out of the back. As much as she appreciated him taking care of her, she wished he wouldn't be with her 24/7.
