OK so I kinda just want a mermaid rp.
One where they have powers and their tail reflects their powers. For example, someone who can control the water might have a gradient blue tail with some designs on them. Someone who can talk to fish might have a tail based on a fish.
Also they can come out of water and be human for a max of half an hour. I think that could be a fun plot point.

Name: Amara Koizumi

Appearance: Amara has very dark hair, and although her hair isn't that long, it reaches just below her shoulders, just enough to flow in the ocean water. (Reference image for ears) Her ears are long and pointy, and on the outside it is like a webbed shape. The top of the ear is a couple inches higher than that of a normal ear, and the bottom reaches only about an inch or so below that of a normal human ear, if the two ears were compared. Amara's eyes are very dark, but just light enough for anyone who was looking closely to recognize that her true eye color is just a very dark blue. Perhaps if one was really examining her eyes, they might be able to tell that she also has flecks of light green and purple, and dots of white scattered about her eyes. Her tail is quite long, and at the end, it becomes almost feather-like, branching out into several different "feathers, each with their own "stem" leading up the middle. Amara stands at 5'2", a little under the average height for human females her age, although if she were able to stand up on her tail, theoretically she'd stand at 6'1", definitely above average for a human female her age.

Tail: Amara has a sea-green coloured tail. It's not so much a bright colour, but closer to this one: #a0dbd3 (If you google "color picker" and input that into the box that says HEX you'll see what I mean)

Style: As a mermaid, Amara wears a simple piece of cloth, made out of seaweed wrapped around her chest. Occasionally, she'll find a hair ornament underwater, or something on land that she likes, and end up taking it and using it as decoration. As a human, she will often wear a simple knee-length or shorter dress, usually flower-patterned, though sometimes she'll wear a solid-colour dress. Any hair ornaments and jewelry remain in place where they are, and as for shoes? Honestly, Amara doesn't really like wearing shoes that much, but she has an old, used pair of white sandals decorated with white lace and black lace.

Personality: Amara honestly isn't too fond of most humans, considering that she believes that they don't care about the wellbeing of the ocean. Most of her young life was dedicated to making sure that the ocean she lived in stayed nice and healthy, although as she grew up, (and as the risk grew smaller that she'd get caught as a mermaid while on land) she soon realized that the ocean she lived in would never be truly clean, and that broke her heart. Still, that doesn't stop her from trying to save the ocean while on land! Amara always tries to get along with others, although, she considers herself weird, since she has a jellyfish as a friend. Well, not exactly, but she gets along well enough with the jellyfish, who she named Edward. She doesn't know whether jellyfish have genders or not, or whether she's speaking to another jellyfish everytime, since they never say anything back, but she likes to think that Edward comes back to visit her.

Background: Amara's family includes her mother, Brooke and her father, Arledge, along with her younger sister, Evian. They are quite a close-knit family, and Evian often comes to visit her, as Amara often visits her family, as she no longer resides in the same house as they do. (Is this okay? It's pretty short)

Powers: talking to sea animals

Occupation: I'm not quite sure whether jobs underwater would be the same as on land, so I'm just going to play it safe and say she works at a shop that sells jewelry.

Name: Kymberleigh "Kye" Pandora

Sexuality: She's fucking gay. Gay as gay can be.
Appearance: Kye has tanned skin without blemishes. Her hair is long and pale blue. It is straight and reaches halfway down her tail. It is always left out unless in battle, in which case it is usually pulled into a plait. Her eyes are a few shades darker than her hair, and they have silver and gold specks in them. Her ears are very strange, strange in the sense that they aren't really mermaid ears. They looked like sharply pointed human ears but retain the anatomy of mermaid ears, so water doesn't affect them.
Kye is quite tall, both as a mermaid and as a human. When a mermaid, she measures about 6"5'. When a human, her height is around 5"7'. She's a tall boi. She's also relatively built from years of training. She's got a bunch of muscles, as well as eight pack abs. When she's human, her legs are pretty muscly as well.
Tail: Kye's tail is quite long. It starts at dark blue at waist and transitions to a pale blue at the bottom fin. The scales also travel up the sides of her torso in a black gradient (like the dark blue to a black) before covering her breasts, leaving her back and stomach bare. The whole tail has abstract patterns in dampened colours. She has two side fins in a pale blue. Her bottom fin is in the shape of an upside down teardrop, with long wisps coming from the sides (here's a pic, only for the bottom fin and not with the pattern or colour).
Style: Being a solider, Kye always has to wear armour in case of an attack (it's easiest to just show you. they don't wear the headpiece). It is enchanted to become a shirts and pants when a casual outing, and armour with pants when in a battle.
Personality: Kye has two different personalities for her two different 'lives'.
When Kye is a soldier, she is determined and strong. She will fight until she dies, and won't stop until she does. She can sometimes be blinded by the battle and completely loses herself to it. It is almost as if the rest of her life isn't there when she's in 'soldier mode'.
When Kye is just Kye, she's pretty different. She is curious about pretty much anything, from seaweed to humans. She likes to go to the surface and often drags Amara along with her, with Amara being her only friend. She is sometimes a little oblivious but is self-aware for the most part.

Background: Kye was abondoned by her parents from the moment she was born. They ended up not wanting her but by the time everything is fertilised it's too late to abort. So they decided to abandon her in a random reef. A battle between the kingdom and another one happened in the reef where she was abandoned. The highest ranking soldier of the King's army (before his daughter took over) found her and took her in. His wife had recently died and was unable to make eggs anyway. He raised her to be a great soldier, which is what she wanted. She adores him with her whole heart.
Powers: Kye has complete control over water. This is very helpful when she lives in water, and it is helpful in battles. There is a lot that she can do underwater that she can't quite do on land. Her favourite thing is to create a whirlpool.
Occupation: Kye is a soldier for the Queen. She is extremely loyal to the Queen and will protect her at all costs. She is one of the higher ranking soldiers and the Queen is very fond of her.
Other: High key has a crush on the Queen, hopes the Queen likes her back.

Kye was bored. She wasn't needed today and so had time to explore. But she'd explored most places underwater, so she was swimming to the surface. There was a beach quite a few miles from the kingdom, and the surface was miles and miles above. Kye arrived at the surface, staring at the beach. Most mermaids could see miles away, their eyesight needing it. Kye's hair pooled around her in the water.

Amara sighed as she looked at her friend, head tilted slightly. Am I really talking to the same jellyfish I've always thought I've been? she wondered, tapping her chin. Since jellyfish didn't usually venture into the waters with lower pressure, Amara was pretty far down, a least a couple hundred miles down. Her jellyfish friend, who she'd named Edward, floated in the seawater next to her, its bell inflating and deflating with a surprising grace. "I wonder…," she started to say out loud. "Why is it that you jellyfish never say anything back? Is it a matter of fact that you can't understand me? Or perhaps… do you not have ears? In any case, it's nice to have a friend who doesn't judge. Who just sits there and listens." Amara smiled slightly, taking a deep breath.

Kye ducked her head under the water, sighing. Amara had been right behind her. But, of course, the mermaid who got distracted all the time was off with a jellyfish. Even if Kye couldn't see her, she knew that's where she'd be. She sighed again before beginning to swim down to where she knew Amara would be.

As Kye approached her location, Amara heard the slightest hint of something, or rather, someone behind her. She turned around to see Kye in the distance, and waved. "Hello!" she called out, but quickly turned back to Edward. "I'm going to go see my friend, okay?" she whispered, and then watched as his bell inflated, and deflated again. Finally, he swam away quite gracefully, as he always did. Amara turned around again, so now she was facing Kye once more.

"Where the hell did you disappear to? I get one day off to relax a week and you can't even be bothered to spend it with me. But seriously, I want to go to the surface today. I rarely get to."

"Ah, but we didn't make any plans together today…" Amara sighed a little bit. "But okay, let's head up." She started to make her way towards the surface, but stopped and looked back at Kye.

Kye grumbled to herself before following Amara. The two of them had been friends since they were kids, and it wasn't like she could just ditch her. Amara was her only friend.
