Jamie whipped around. "What happened? Where is he?"
"Who's Conner?" Ellesse sneered.

"A group of boys went after him…"

"Where is he?" Jamie repeated frantically.

"Infirmary…" He said quietly.

Jamie didn't think. She exited the dormitory and ran without stopping to the infirmary.

Connor was passed out on a bed. The nurse was cleaning the blood from his chin.

Jamie rushed over, sparing a brief "Hello" for Madam Pomfrey before practically interrogating her. "What happened? Who did it? Is he going to be alright? How long has he been here? May I stay with him pleeeease?"

She told her to calm down. "A group of boys hurt him. Luckily he didn't get to injured. "

"May I stay here?" she asked pleadingly.

"I guess…" she finished cleaning up the blood.

"Oh, thank you, Madam Pomfrey!" Jamie cried happily.

"Don't mention it."

Jamie took Conner's hand. "Conner? Please wake up. It's me, Jamie. The other Hatstall in our year…" She began to ramble on, talking about anything and everything she could.

He didn't move.

Jamie continued talking. She talked all night to him.

The next morning he woke up in a coughing fit.

Jamie gasped mid-sentence. "Conner!"

He sat up trying to catch his breath.

"Are you alright?" she asked worriedly.

he nods after he calmed down. "Y-, "cough,'' yeah"

She smoothed his hair. "Poor thing…" she cooed softly.

"…I hate those boys…"

"Would you like me to hex them for you?" she asked quietly. "I know some good ones that we're supposed to learn in sixth year…"

"N-Nah…I 'm used to this."

"I'll take that as a yes," she replied firmly. "Don't try and tell me no, because I'll hex you too and I don't want to do that."
