They left her in that room for a long time. For half an hour they would shock her every eight minutes. The shocks were smaller and less intense, but they still happened. Then nothing happened for half an hour, until one guard came back in holding something that resembled a rope made of wires.
Nora started to relax. The first shocks had hurt but as time went on they got weaker and weaker. Her eyes narrowed when the guard came into the room with wires or ropes. She couldn't tell. What the hell do they want now? She stared at the man, still not saying a single word.
The guard’s face was emotionless as he pressed a button on the handle he was holding. The wires came to life. They glowed a dull purple and hummed with electricity. The guard whipped the air next to him once as another guard came in. She grabbed Nora and strapped her to the table face down. She pressed a button on the table until it was horizontal. The guard holding the whip cracked it in the air again before he lay one blow on Nora’s back.
Nora's eyebrows shot up when the wires started to glow purple. Oh fuck. She soon found herself on her stomach and strapped down. This was definitely not good. She turned her head in a desperate attempt to see what was going on. It was useless. The whip slammed down on her back without warning. The electric wires tore through the thing fabric on her shirt with ease and bit into her soft flesh and ripped it up. Long nasty lines of blood began to form on her back. The smell of burning flesh mixed with blood filled the room. She cried out as the pain rippled through her body.
The guard whipped her back two more times, then stopped. “Now are you going to tell me?” the voice asked. “I think you can figure out what I am going to say.”
Nora didn't say a word. There was no way she was going to say anything. No amount of torture would get her to crack. They could break her body but they couldn't break her spirit.
When Nora didn’t say anything the guard whipped her three more times, then left. He stayed away for a long time, isolating Nora yet again.
He came back again an hour later and whipped her twenty times. He left and another guard came in. She strapped Nora back into the chair and immediately started pummeling her head.
Nora silently endured being whipped. It was incredibly hard for her not to cry out but she found that if she bit down hard enough on her inner cheeks then she would be okay.
Blood soaked through her clothes and pooled on the floor underneath her. She passed out within the first few minutes of getting her head beat on.
The guard left after a few minutes. An hour later a different guard came back to find Nora still passed out. He put her faceup on the table and wheeled her back into the room Rowan was in.
Rowan gasped. Nora's clothes looked ripped in the back. She could only imagine what that meant. Blood had run down her body and dried. Her chin had fallen against her chest and had a patch of dried blood was on her forehead. "What did you do to her?" she demanded. The guard said nothing, he just left. She turned to the speaker. "What did you do to her?" she repeated. The voice didn't respond.
Nora remained limp and unconscious the entire time. The loss of blood and the beating from the previous day had proved to be too much for her to handle. She looked like shit. Her clothes has been ripped in shreds in the back and her body and clothes were covered in dried blood. A deep cut ran down her already very bruised and very swollen face. The sound of Rowan's voice caused her to stir but she didn't wake up.
She turned her focus to Nora. "What did they do to you?" she asked softly. A man in a white coat holding a tablet came in, towards Nora. Rowan's head whipped around. "Who are you? What are you doing?"
He looked up at her, the disinterst on his face clear. "The doctor. I'm here to examine the both of you." He put the stethoscope from around his neck in his ears and put it to Nora's chest.
What the hell? Examine them? What was this 'doctor' playing at?
Pain. All Nora could feel was pain. Every fiber of her being felt as though it's been set on fire. Pain coursed through her bloodstreams, making it impossible for her to even open her eyes. Panic flooded over her as it began to het harder and harder to breath. An overwhelming pressure began to build in her head. That loud consist pounding was like having a million jackhammers ramming into her skull. Her breathing became shallow, her face paled, and her hands began to tremble. She was on the verge of passing out again.
She opened her eyes slowly when she felt something touching her chest. It was surprising to say the least to wake up and find a strange man standing there. She was just too tired to protest. Maybe later.
Rowan watched Nora carefully. She had started shaking and seemed very far away. "Nora?" she asked quietly. "Nora, can you hear me? It's Rowan. I'm right here, it's alright." She cringed at her words. It wasn't alright. But at least they were together for the moment.
Nora looks over to Rowan and blinked several times. "This feels like the worst fucking hangover in the world," She groaned, leaning her head back against the table. She wouldn't say what she really felt. Not in front of Rowan. She didn't want her to worry. "Who's this asshole?" She weakly gestured to the doctor.
“I don’t know.” Rowan studied him. He ignored their conversation and grabbed a small, slim flashlight from the pocket of his coat. “A doctor here to examine us apparently.”
“Open your eyes as wide as you can and look at my ear,” he instructed Nora.
Nora glared at the doctor, not certain that she believed that he was an actual doctor. Why would they need to be examined? She was just tortured. Of course she was in bad shape.
"No. Go fuck yourself." Her usual spunk was starting to return.
The doctor sighed. “Would you like me to get someone to knock you out? Because I can do that.” He stared Nora down, used to prisoners being uncooperative.
Nora stared right back at him. "I don't want you to touch me. If you put your fucking hands on me then I'll rip your arm off and beat you to death with it."
The doctor sighed heavily. “I don’t have to touch you unless you give me reason to. Reason being not cooperating with me. Now please open your eyes wide and looking at my ear and this will all be over very soon.”
Nora huffed before she nodded her head. "Fine." The sooner this was over with, the better. She opened her eyes wide and looked over to his ear. "Happy now?" It wasn't like the doctor was actually going to help them. She saw no point in this.
The doctor didn’t reply. He only shone the light in Nora’s left eye for a moment, and then her right. “Do you feel nauseous?” he asked her, turning off the flashlight.
Nora blinked and scowled. She did not appreciate the light that was being shone in her eyes. "Yes." The beatings and the constant pummeling to the heads have left her with a sick feeling for several hours.
The doctor nodded. “You have at least one concussion, possibly two.”
Rowan’s head spun. “So what are you going to do about it doctor?”
“Me?” The doctor looked surprised. “Nothing. My job is diagnosis. You think they would let me do anything else?” He started to listen to Rowan’s heartbeat and poked around at her stomach and abdomen.
“Are you seriously telling me you can’t do anything for her?”
The doctor hesitated for half a moment. “Yes.” He put his stethoscope back around his neck. “You’re both malnourished and dehydrated so unless you get food soon, you’ll probably start hallucinating within a day or so.”
"Are you fucking kidding me? I could've diagnosed myself with that! A monkey could've done the same!" Nora snarled, beyond furious. "You useless idiot! You came in here and did utterly nothing. Good job putting that fucking medical degree to use." This was getting ridiculous? What were their capturers trying to do? First they torture her and then they sent in a doctor? This was making no sense. "Tell that bullshit to the dumbasses who are torturing us." It would be no sense and she knew it.
He ignored her. Rowan just sighed. "Thank you, doctor." The doctor nodded and left. Rowan thought about saying something about the blood dripping from Nora, but decided against it. She sniffed the air. "Do you smell that?"
