Calum enters the library quietly and sighed softly as he looks around the room. The library was huge, all this knowledge. He wished he could sit here and read, but he had a job. He inhaled softly and smiled a little when he found the heir. He cleared his throat. "Your highness?" He asks curiously, knocking gently on one of the bookshelves.
Atlas let out a very undignified squeak as they jumped a few inches in the air. They cleared their throat and tried to urge the embarrassed blush to go away as they smoothed out their shirt. "Uh, hello?" Their voice was a bit hesitant, it didn't sound like their mom or Liane, so that was probably good.
Calum smiled a little at the heir, his eyes gentle. "I'm very sorry to bother you." He smiled gently. "My name is Calum. Your mothers assigned me as your guard." He explains softly. He wanted to be quiet since apparently the heir tends to startle a little bit.
Atlas stuck their hand out, a sheepish smile on their face. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Atlas!" They introduced, mentally cursing themself. He already knows that, dingus. You're literally the heir to the kingdom he lives in, I'm sure he knows your name.
Calum smiled warmly a the other, taking their hand kindly. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He says kindly. He chuckles. "Please, feel free to call me Cal." he tilts his head and offers a gentle smile. "Atlas is a beautiful name. It means support, as prop. It's Greek of origin." He chuckles a little bit.
"Yes! From the mythology of the titan who carries the world on his shoulders, I'm familiar!" Atlas moved some papers out of the chair next to them and moved books out of the way. "Would you like to sit?"
Calum seemed pleased. Despite his rather large appearance Calum loved reading, if he hadn't become a knight for the crown, he would have become a scholar. He nods and settles down, "Thank you. I rather enjoy Greek mythology. It's beautiful in some aspects, but also dark in others. I consider most stories to hold morals and ideas." He chuckles a little bit.
Atlas nodded enthusiastically. "I agree, I did a paper about Odysseus earlier, I focused mainly on the mental state of him and his crew instead of the morals though." They laughed sheepishly, they really liked psychology.
He listened intently. "That's really impressive! I have to admit, understanding the human mind is a very complicated thing, it's so complex and yet so intriguing. May I read your paper? Or at least understand what you said?" He asks curiously. The mind had always caught his attention.
Atlas's face went panicked for a moment, they didn't really let anyone look at their papers. But it's a good opportunity for a friend? Their brain supplied. "I-uh sure. It's in my rooms so we can find it later?"
Calum was gentle and warm, he just had a soothing presence to him. He had this feeling around him that made people want to open up and talk about themselves. He smiled and nods. "Of course! That sounds wonderful. I'd love to learn more."
(Calum is like the soft boy aesthetic if it was human and Atlas is just dark academia with anxiety)
