(Who should start?)
(I am.)
It was pretty late in the afternoon, early winter when Cameron came home. He had donned his lighter apparel and found himself to be too hot in it. The winter wasn't really that bad up here. He rolled his eyes and unlocked his door to his house, flicking on the lights and looking around. He'd drop off his things and go pick up Lily, then take a nap. Or eat some stuff he brought back. So many choices. He went upstairs and set his things down, yawning and stretching.
(Okay!)
Ava, in her rage, had neglected to ask the cooks when Cameron would be returning so she's flying blind. To her best guess, he'll be arriving sometime this week and she's chosen today to check. Heading up the path to his house, she tries to think of what she's going to say. It's been three months of just waiting for him to get back so she's had a lot of time to stew in her anger. She approaches the front door and knocks. She had left Kreja at home so the dog wouldn't have to witness what is most likely going to turn out to be a fight.
Cameron rose his eyebrows at the knock and sighed, going downstairs to answer the door. His shoes were still on, there was still bags under his eyes and there was no Lily in sight. It was physically noticeable he just came home and didn't want to deal with her.
"What do you want, Ava?" He asked rather tiredly at her angry expression, pinching the bridge of his nose and rubbing it.
Ava doesn't give a single shit whether he wants to talk to her or not. "It's been three fucking months, Cameron. You left abruptly with no note, no text, no nothing. I had no idea where you were and if you were okay. I was worried sick." She crosses her arms and stares him down. "When I came to check on you and I found you missing and your house looking abandoned I thought that something bad had happened to you. The only reason I didn't come looking for your sorry ass is because one of your cooks told me where you were."
Cameron sighed and looked off into the house, listening but not answering. "Right, sorry, then. Though I don't understand why I have to tell you where the hell I'm going. You're my… friend, not my mother, not my lover. I just wanted a break, and I literally just got home. Give it to me later, I'm not in the mood." He shut the door on her, walking away into the house again. He knew if he got in a fight with her, she'd win, because yes, he should have told her where he was going. But he was gonna be just like her and not admit it.
"You know what? Fuck you, Cameron!" Ava shouts before whirling around and storming away. She's so fucking mad right now that she could actually kill him. What the hell is wrong with him? If he leaves for a week and doesn't say anything then she can understand it but this was three months. She climbs onto her motorcycle and speeds down the street, still cussing him out in her head.
Cameron waved his hand at his door, grabbing his keys and sighing. Why couldn't she just be happy he went home and shut up? It wasn't that hard. He went upstairs and grabbed his phone, telling his friend he was on his way to pick up Lily.
Soon, he was back home with the old girl in the back, and carried her inside. She was stiff from the cold and miserable again. He didn't have time to worry about Ava, through his worry with paying bills, getting Lily to the vet, unpacking, making sure everything with his leave was validated… it was too much. He passed Ava out of his mind.
(Should we do a small jump to later? Maybe when she calms down and starts talking to him again?)
(Yeah, sure. She probably wouldn't contact him first though.)
(Oof he wouldn't either lmaooo um)
(Their stubbornness will be their downfall lol Hm….we could have them run into each other? Or her father can throw a party and his restaurant caters it? Idk)
(HHmmmm well since Cam's restaurant is so far away idk if that'll happen. I guess running into each other? Oooh maybe at the restaurant they had their first date at?)
(That's a good idea! So we'll have them awkwardly run into each other at their first date restaurant? How long should it have been since the fight?)
(Yep! Ummm maybe another few months? Cameron just swings by to borrow something or actually sit down to eat and she comes in and sees him?)
(Alright, great! That sounds good with me!)
(Alrighty let me start)
Cameron left his normal stressful schedule to go relax in one of his favorite other restaurants, asking to get seated in the back. He just wanted to relax and de-stress himself with good food he didn't make himself. He relaxed in the booth he was seated in, exhaling softly and running his fingers through his fluffy brown hair. It felt good to be in this non-crowded place. Really good.
Ava steps into the restaurant, perfectly relaxed. She just finished a meeting with a potential new recruit and it had gone really well so she decided to grab a bite to eat before retiring to her hotel room. The hostess leads her to a table in the back. It's going to be nice to eat a delicious meal without loud people surrounding her. She takes a seat and looks around the room. Her eyes land on a familiar figure in a booth near her. Of course he would be here. She quickly looks away, refusing to let his presence ruin her evening.
Cameron didn't notice her, he only was enjoying a soup that he ordered as an appetizer, sipping it politely as he kept his eyes down and reading the menu. He set the cup down and grabbed his chopsticks, the snapping noise that separated them the only noise between them. He grabbed some noodles out of the cup and ate it, grinning at the tastiness of it. He might ask for more, it was delicious. But he settled on an entree like it, a tasty noodle bowl.
Ava glances briefly at the menu before deciding to order Gyoza for her appetizer. She doesn't have anywhere to be so she can take her time and really enjoy this meal. The dumplings arrive a few minutes later. She politely thanks her waitress before she begins to quietly eat. With a hum of appreciation, she savors the taste of her first bite of dumpling. The food here is amazing and she really does need to come more often.
The same waitress stopped near Cameron's booth and asked for his order. He placed it and ordered another appetizer of spring rolls, then sighed and looked down at the table again. He pulled out his phone, and it might look like he's doing important stuff, but he was really just playing solitaire as he waited, tapping his fingers on the table. The only bad thing about this place was that it took a bit for the food to come out, but that was a good sign it was being made in the restaurant.
Ava pulls out her phone and starts to type out an email to her father, telling him how it had gone with the potential recruit. If he passes the first round of training and if her father approves then he'll start full fledged training. She looks up when the waitress approaches and decides to order her main course, Combination Tempura. It's basically rice, fried vegetables, shrimp, white fish, and crab. She then turns back to finishing the insanely long email.
Cameron heard her voice but passed it off as his imagination, going back to his game. He ran his hand through his hair, and good thing he did, because soon his meal was brought out. He sat up and set his phone down with a grin, digging in immediately. It tasted insanely good, with the thick noodles, egg, and choice of fish in his bowl. He ate it slowly, enjoying the savoriness of it, along with his spring rolls which waited at his elbow.
Ava sends the email and sets her phone down. With a quiet sigh, she finishes the last dumpling she has. The waitress soon arrives and brings her food. She thanks her before starting to eat. As usual, everything is delicious. Kletin doesn't have a decent Japanese restaurant so she has to come here whenever she wants some. She takes a bite of the crab, a small smile tugging at her lips. If she was any good at cooking then she'd try to learn how to make this.
Cameron finished with his ramen, humming happily and pulling the bowl to the side. He had finished quicker than what he anticipated. All well, right? He finished up his spring rolls and pulled out his card to pay, which had been set at his table when he asked for it. He lifted up his phone again and continued his game of solitaire, sighing a little. He hated eating alone, but it was sort of his fault. He didn't ask anyone to go with him.
"I'll have the Japanese Mochi Cake to go and the check, please," Ava orders politely. She may as head back to the hotel now. There's a soccer game starting on TV soon so she could probably watch that. Pulling out her wallet, she counts out enough cash for the bill and then for a hefty tip. She picks up the little box that her dessert is in before standing up and pushing her chair in.
