“Another door, huh? Maybe this’ll have some’a that magic shit she was talkin’ ‘bout.” Cliff watched Sheena’s hand on the door, his head tilted a bit.
“Another door, huh? Maybe this’ll have some’a that magic shit she was talkin’ ‘bout.” Cliff watched Sheena’s hand on the door, his head tilted a bit.
Sheena slowly opened the door, stepping in the room. Inside was more books, a bunch of candles, and a large tome open on a table.
Cliff took in the room. “Well, we foun’ candles. That’s lucky.” He laughed, stepping inside. “And s’more books.”
Sheena nodded, walking toward the large, open tome, lighting some candles near it. "Magical tools… Atheme- a ceremonial dagger, often associated with the element of fire, and never meant to cause harm…" She read out loud. "Oh, there's pictures-oh!"
“What, what is it?” Cliff hurried over, assuming that something bad had happened. “What’s wrong?”
Sheena pointed at an illustration. "It's the same!" She said, putting the dagger she was carrying, laying it next to the picture.
“Uh-huh. Somehow no’ the strangest thing I seen today.” He looked at the two things. “Bu’ certainly odd.”
Sheena took the dagger- athame- back, flipping through. "Wand- this picture's the same too!"
Cliff pulled the wand out of his pocket, comparing the two with a keen eye. “Huh. So it is. I assume this is connected with earth, right?”
Sheena skimmed the page. "Yeah. Earth or air, depending on the user."
“Somehow I’m thinkin’ it’ll end up as earth for me.” Cliff laughed, looking at the tome. “This is all still so strange to me, the fact that there’s magic here.”
Sheena nodded. "I know…"
“Plus, we’re s’posed to use it as a tool to collapse the damned government. And somethin’ tells me this has a fair bit of a learnin’ curve.” Cliff tapped the tome, watching the candle flames flicker and dance. “The fact o’ the matter is, Sheena, we have to figure out a way to balance this and everyday life. If they figure out what we’re doin’, guarantee ya it’ll be a li’l worse than just beatin’s.”
"Eh, we're already wanted for rebellious behavior, I, for one, am sick of this… what do we have to lose?" She asked, looking down at the book. "Look, we got resources they don't. No one even knows about this place. And it's huge!"
“Ah, fuck. You’re right, I completely forgot about the whole.. bust thing.” Cliff sighed, rubbing his temples. “God, what time is it? I’m fuckin’ plumb tired, I’ll tell you what.”
"No clue, but I'm gonna look around more. Swear I saw a staircase…" She said, taking a candle.
Cliff glanced at the old tome a final time before following after Sheena. “Guess I’ll come with. I think I saw stairs too, just don’t really remember where at..”
((Sorry, I was busy all day!))
Sheena nodded, looking around, finding new banned items-books, records, instruments, spray paints-and trying to keep candle wax off her hand. "Feels like we're in some weird fantasy thing…"
(it’s all good!)
“Don’t it? This place is wild.” Cliff mumbled, eyes wandering around the room. “Spray-paints, wow. I never even seen half these things before… guess tha’s the poin’ of bannin’ ‘em, but still.”
Sheena nodded, finding the stairs. "It's kinda narrow. I'll go first?"
“Sure thing. Holler if somethin’ goes wrong, yeah?” Cliff shoved his hands into his pockets, looking at the stairs curiously.
"Got it." She said, walking upstairs slowly. Creepy, but whatever.
Cliff waited patiently, rocking from foot to foot at the base of the stairs.
"Safe!" Sheena called down.
“Yeah? Alright, alright.” Cliff called back up, beginning to make his way up the stairs. They really were narrow.
