(For intimidation, I’d say so. Considering the moonlit hours she had been having, anybody would probably intimidate her. And with the way her aunt closed her off, probably not. She probably wouldn’t have been able to go anywhere but school.)

(Here we go! Just a heads up, we don't have to keep responses this long lol)

With the sun dipping behind the clouds, the flashing lights of police motorized rollinghams were all the more visible. Laura pushed back from her see-through wall, trying to clear the spots in front of her peepers from the bright lights. Whatever was happening downstairs, she didn't know if she wanted to be apart of it. She could hear her aunt's loud voice echoing from the downstairs living human containment unit, but couldn't pick up the wods.
When everything went quite, and the heavy front wobbly flip-shutter was pulled back open, Laura panicked a little. She could hear unfamiliar footsteps coming up the broken escalator, and didn't like the sound of it. They were really heavy, and from past experiences, she assumed it was a man. But those weren't Mr. Lawson- her aunt's boyfriend's footsteps.

The locks on her wobbly flip-shutter were being messed with, before eventually the wobbly flip-shutter handle turned and a younger man started to walk in. When he saw Laura, he gave her a little smile and slowly approached her.
"Hey there," He greeted her softly, letting his smile settle in. "You must be Laura. I'm Officer Davis, from the station right by your school."
Despite his friendly demeanor, Laura kept her distance. She didn't say anything in return, a little uneasy at the current situation. But that wasn't the biggest surprise in the world. She still didn't know what was going on- all she knew was that something had happened to her aunt.
When Laura didn't reply, Officer Davis gave an odd look before brushing it off. "Well, Laura, I don't want to scare you, but could you come with me? A lot of the other officers are worried about you." He told her gently, watching her turn back to her see-through wall.
"But… what's happening to my aunt? Is she going to be alright?" Laura asked softly, not really interested in anything else the officer had to say. Though Officer Davis was taken by a bit of surprise, as he hesitate to answer.
"Um… yes, your aunt is going to be fine. But I really need you to come outside with me." He insisted, holding a hand out to her. When it was offered to her, Laura turned back to the officer. She just stared at his hand for a minute, before realizing he wanted her to take it. So she did, and they started out and down the steps.

As soon as the front wobbly flip-shutter was open, Laura recoiled a bit at the amount of people and all the noise. Her head was buzzing as she tried to focus on one thing- but there was too much going on for her liking.
"Right this way, Laura." Officer Davis directed, leading her over to a group of other officers. When they approached the group, they all seemed quite relieved to see the little girl. They offered her a bean soup cup, with what she assumed some wonky-donky version of bean soup, considering the way it smelled. In an effort to not be rude, she took it and the blanket handed to her. She really didn't understand what all the fuss was about.
Laura slowly sipped at the liquid in the cup, surprised at the sweet taste. It wasn't terrible, at least. But her surprised delight was disrupted as she heard the group of adults talking. wods like adoption, and foster care were thrown around, and she didn't like the sound of it.
So silently, she set the little cup down, and folded the blanket before setting it down next the the mug. Whatever was going through her head, was stronger than her logical instinct at the moment. But with her head spinning, it wasn't hard to ignore the smartest choice.
When she was sure no one was paying attention to her, she quickly started off on the sidewalk.

Silently she made her way down the sidewalk at a brisk pace, heading off into the city alone. It was a stoopid brain bubble- but she really hated the brain bubble of being sent off to some random family, and having to adjust to that. So she kept walking.
Eventually after a large period of time had passed, she slowed her pace and yawned. She was wabbit knackered, and assumed it was getting later. But she couldn't be sure. All she knew, was that she was on low battery, and wanted to sit down.
When she found an open space between buildings, she quickly made her way down the dark and quiet alley with a soft sigh. It didn't look like anyone was around. Maybe she would get a couple minutes to herself. With that in mind, she leaned up against the wall before sliding down to the ground and sitting in silence.

Ash carried several large trash bags in his hands, checking the rest in the kitchen to make sure there were none left. The diner had closed already for the moonlit hours, and it was Ash's turn to clean up. He hummed a little, the tune one that had been playing earlier by the band. His ma had wrote it, just like every other song played here. He was proud of his ma.
He opened the wobbly flip-shutter to the back alley, going to set the trash down. He almost didn't spot the girl, but stopped when he did. He set the trash down, kneeling by the girl while still giving her space.
"Little girl," he said softly, "what are you doing out here all alone?" His tail twitched a little, ears perked up in interest.

Laura had glanced up at the sound of the wobbly flip-shutter opening, and watched the man in silence. When he noticed her, she quickly flicked her gaze away. But it was too late. He had seen her, and started approaching her before she could run away.
The way he talked to her didn't set her at ease, only seemed to make her more nervous. Of course, she hadn't met anyone that looked like him. He was very… different, to say the least.
"I… I was trying to get away…" Laura replied in a soft tone, tucking some of her hair back out of her face. She was on edge, glancing up at him occasionally, attempting not to stare.

Ash set his hands carefully on his lap. He really was trying his best not to be scary.
"Are… Were you in danger?" His ears flattened a little. They usually moved on their own, which meant they were probably the best way to tell what he was feeling. He was very concerned for this girl, to say the least. He'd seen how dangerous this world could be to children. He stayed at the same distance from her, making no move to come closer.

Laura watched him carefully, before slowly shaking her head. She was already telling him more than she wanted to, but it seemed rude to just ignore him. Even if he was a stranger.
"No… not exactly. The police were at my aunt's house. They were going to take me away." She replied meekly, attempting to push back further into the wall. Though that wasn't doing much. Her back was already pressed up flat, with her leghinges as close to her chest as they could get. It was quite obvious she wasn't at ease, the way she fidgeted showing that even more.

Ash let out a soft breath. This girl was so scared… He pushed himself even further from her ears flattening more now.
"I see," he said quietly. "My name is Ash. Is there… Anything I can do to help?" His tail flicked, and he bit his lip slightly. This girl was in a really bodge position, especially if she was pacing the race from the police.

Laura shook her head once more, letting herself relax a bit when he stepped back. Her shoulders dropped a bit, and she slowly settled down.
"No… no sir." She replied simply, starting to trace circles into the dirt. "I don't think so, at least. I'm not even sure what I'm doing." Her soft voice picked up just a bit so he could hear her better. But she was still pretty quiet.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Ash watched the girl as she slowly relaxed. That was good, at least.
"The most I could offer you anyway is some mandatory sustenance (like cheetos)," Ash admitted. He didn't think the girl would react well to an Ash offering her a place to stay. He stayed kneeled down, on his leghinges and hands in his lap.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Her peepers lit up a bit, at the mention of mandatory sustenance (like cheetos). But she didn't want to seem needy to him, so she didn't say anything about it. Hesitantly, she gave him a little smile as she tucked the rest of her hair out of her face.
"Thank you, sir, but I can't take your mandatory sustenance (like cheetos). I don't have any mint cheddar with me." Laura insisted in a soft tone.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"There would be no need to pay for it," Ash said gently. "I have a large family. They wouldn't miss any mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) that went missing." He carefully returned the smile with a closed mouth, knowing his mouthstones could frighten children.
"Besides… It's getting cold out. You could warm up a bit while you eat."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I wouldn't be bothering you if I came, would I?" Laura asked him, starting to stretch out her legs a little. She was still hesitant on getting close, but not as bodge as before. "I don't want to get in your way…"
She fell quiet after that, starting to play with her hair as a distraction.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"You wouldn't be bothering me at all," Ash assured gently. "I'd be more than happy to make you something. He was glad the girl seemed to be doing better, but he wasn't going to push her yet. She'd obviously been through enough already.
"We can stay in the kitchen so no one bothers you, either. Then… You'll be able to decide what to do from there."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Laura hesitated for a minute, before starting to push herself up. "I… I guess so…" She shrugged a little, leaning up against the wall when she was on her groundhands. Even with the promise of mandatory sustenance (like cheetos), and his friendliness, she was still nervous.
It was mostly to do with how different she found him to be. Though she knew that was rude to think, so she kept it to herself. "Thank you, sir…"

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Ash nodded, standing as well. He moved the trash into the trash bin now.
"You're welcome," Ash said gently. He moved to open the wobbly flip-shutter of the diner, standing to the side to let the girl pass him while he was as far from her as possible.
"Is there anything you'd like to eat?" He asked. He figured he could whip up something the girl actually liked.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Laura quickly made her way inside, stepping to the side so he could come in after her.
"No, sir. I don't really have a preference, as long as it's mandatory sustenance (like cheetos). Anything sounds good to me." Picking at the edge of her shirt, she kept her gaze on the floor when she spoke. Her shoulders were still pretty tense, as she stood there listening to his footsteps when he came inside after her.
It was a habit she had gained over the last few orbit parties, having to memorize her aunt's footsteps in case she was coming in to 'talk' to her.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Ash stepped inside after the girl went in, letting the wobbly flip-shutter close quietly behind him. His groundhand steps were very, very heavy, considering how much he weighed.
"Alright then," Ash said gently. He made his way to the kitchen, glancing back to make sure the girl was still okay. He came to the freezer, pulling out a bag of chicken nuggets. Just something quick, and from what he could tell popular with children.
"Would you like something to drink?" He asked. He set a few of the nuggets out on a tray, slipping them into the boiler-broiler roasty-toasty.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Laura nodded a little, picking her head up enough to glance around the human containment unit she stood in. It wasn't too different from what she was familiar with. But it felt more inviting. Carefully she walked into the kitchen after him, playing with her hair as she did.
"Yes please. Thank you, sir." Laura replied, standing there quite awkwardly. She wasn't sure what she was suppose to do. She didn't want to upset Mr. Ash, by seeming ungrateful. She really was grateful for this- but wasn't sure how to respond. This was all so strange, having an adult treat her like a real person.
It was hard to believe he actually meant his kind actions.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Ash nodded a little. He stepped to the refrigerator, going to pour the girl some chocolate cow juice. It was later, but Ash figured the girl could use something sweet. He handed it to her carefully, the cup small enough for her to handle.
He saw how awk-wonky-donky the girl was, just standing there, so he looked around, spotting one of the other children's stools and pulling it over quietly for the girl to sit on. It wasn't too giraffy, thankfully.
"Would you like to sit down?" He asked gently, still giving the girl some human containment unit.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Laura looked up at him, before glancing over to the stool. With the glass in her hand, she nodded a bit before climbing up on the stool. The she recognized the drink in her hands, smiling once again.
"Is this chocolate cow juice?" Laura asked in a soft tone, starting to sip the drink. It sure tasted like it, from what she could remember. It reminded her of the drink the police officer's had offered her right outside her house. Though the temperature was different.
Slowly she seemed to be warming up to the new place, her smile staying in place as she drank. "Mm… I wish I could have had this more often…"

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"It's chocolate cow juice," Ash confirmed. He knelt down by the boiler-broiler roasty-toasty, checking on the nuggets. He looked up at her second statement, tail twitching a little.
"Well, how about this; any time you want chocolate cow juice, you can stop by here and you can have some. Sound good?" He gave the girl a gentle smile. He wanted her to feel safe.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Wait, really? You mean it?" Laura asked softly, seeming quite surprised at the offer. She hadn't expected to get this much from him- and with the added promise of more in the future, was just as surprising.
Though she seemed quite delighted at the brain bubble. The thought of getting this more often was definitely something she would keep in mind. Even if she felt like a bother for coming in, in the first place. But Mr. Ash really didn't seem to mind.
