“Hey, you never know if there’ll be one at a kiosk or something somewhere,” Sterling said with a shrug before taking and leading her back to the gates.
“Hey, you never know if there’ll be one at a kiosk or something somewhere,” Sterling said with a shrug before taking and leading her back to the gates.
Eden tugged his arm, trying to stop him. “Let’s not use the map,” she insisted. “We can get lost. It’ll be fun.”
Sterling grinned and kissed her head. “Sounds like a good deal. Now… Any idea where your ride is?”
“I’ve got no clue,” Eden chuckled. “But we can find out, can’t we?”
“You bet we can. Left or right first?” Sterling asked as they came to the curve in the road.
“Left,” Eden responded, hugging his arm. “Left sounds perfect.”
“Then left it shall be,” Sterling declared in a stage voice, grinning as he led her to the left.
“You are ridiculous, Sterling,” Eden said, though she couldn’t help but laugh as she let him lead her.
Sterling winked and tightened his arm around her. “Ooh, do you think they have freshly baked cookies here? I went to a fair in Minnesota once with the best cookies.”
Eden furrowed her eyebrows in concentration. “Did you? We do have things like that here. There should be food stalls here.”
“Cool, cool. Let’s go see if they have any,” Sterling declared as he tugged her long excitedly.
He was so adorable, Eden thought with a chuckle. Like a puppy. He was so endearing. “Hey, hey, you’re going to make me trip on my feet!”
“Then shall I give you a piggyback ride?” Sterling suggested with a playful look. “It would be faster, don’t you think?”
“I think that would take a longer time,” Eden stammered, her cheeks flaming. “Wouldn’t it?”
“No… No, why would it?” Sterling asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Because you’d be carrying me,” Eden answered softly, still flustered.
Sterling hummed and shrugged. “So? Who says I can’t run or walk as fast with you on my back as I can without?” he questioned with a playful grin.
“Me?” Eden replied, crossing her arms over her chest, nervousness piling into her. Was he really considering doing that, or was he just joking? Eden didn’t know what she wanted. If he wasn’t joking, then to be on his back meant to have his hands on her legs to keep her lifted. Even if it was Sterling, she didn’t know if she could handle it without the nausea slapping her in the face. “Don’t you get slower the more things you carry?”
Sterling crinkled his nose. “Well, true, but you wouldn’t slow me down that much,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “Do you want to?”
Why do you have to ask me that…? In this situation, she would have been more than happy to not get a choice. She didn’t want to upset him. But he would be either way—from her ‘no,’ or from the way her body would respond to his touches.
“I think I’m good,” Eden scrunched her nose playfully. “I don’t want you tiring out quickly.”
Sterling hummed, nodding slowly. “Okay. That fine,” he assured her with a kiss to her temple. “Cookies, right?”
Eden smiled, grateful for her understanding boyfriend. “Thank you,” she whispered. “And yes, cookies for my puppy.”
“If I’m a puppy, then I can’t eat cookies,” Sterling said with a playful pout at her.
“Oh,” Eden furrowed her eyebrows. “Fair point. Then you should stop acting like a puppy, Sterling.”
Sterling chuckled softly and gave her a gentle squeeze. “Well, then I suppose I shall. I want my cookies, after all.”
