“No,” Laura replied honestly, trying to fight off the urge to wipe her lips. “I hated that. I tried to pretend it was yo—it was my crush, but it still disgusted me.”
“No,” Laura replied honestly, trying to fight off the urge to wipe her lips. “I hated that. I tried to pretend it was yo—it was my crush, but it still disgusted me.”
Josh's heart fell a little, but he pushed his bruised feelings aside for the moment. "That guy's an asshole for making you do that…" he muttered.
Can you kiss me to make it better?
Laura shook that thought away. It wasn’t okay thinking like that. She should know better.
“It’s not the first time they’ve done this. What’s worse is that he’s here. My crush, that is,” Laura swallowed. “I’m wondering what he’s thinking of me right now.”
Josh visibly tensed, eyes flickering across the faces of those in the circle. Dante, Ryan, a few freshman.. not many people he knew. Charlie, maybe? His eyes settled on an admittedly attractive redheaded boy.
"If he thinks badly of you for being forced to kiss some pervert, he's probably a bad person himself."
Laura chuckled, talking with him lifting her spirits. “Now that you mention it, he probably wouldn’t think that,” she said with a soft smile. “He’s the sweetest guy you could ever meet.”
Josh's heart sank lower into the bottomless pit of heartbreak. You really need to stop falling for girls this quickly….
His smile faltered ever so slightly as he shifted where he sat. "You deserve the sweetest."
Laura’s smile dropped as she looked over at him, biting down on her lip. Then her hand found itself on his, and she linked their fingers together.
“C’mon,” she tugged on his hand. “Let’s get out of here?”
Josh's heart skipped a beat—–and a loud voice interrupted them.
"Josh!" A girl this time… Tania? Tara? She gave a positively evil grin, elbowing her friend in the ribs before speaking. "Truth or dare?"
Josh heaved a sigh, shooting Laura an apologetic look. "Dare. Make it a quick one."
Tania grabbed her friend my the wrist and pushed her forwards. "Let Anna sit in your lap until the next dare is completed."
(AHHH NO LAURA JUST TELL HIM)
(JUST FREAKING KISS HIM LAURA FOR GODS SAKE)
(IT WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER)
(YES I AGREE)
Laura immediately scowled, her eyes flashing angrily. What? No. Absolutely not! Josh was he—no, no he wasn’t.
She kept her teeth gritted, trying to keep her jealousy at bay. Josh was not her boyfriend. She didn’t have a right to be jealous like that.
(Oml you guys! 🤣)
The whole circle burst out laughing, including Anna, who settled comfortably in Josh's lap and pulled his arms around her waist. Josh, meanwhile, forced all emotion to leave his expression, and stared blankly at the floor below.
The next few minutes were torture. Sitting next to his crush while being forced to hold another girl in his lap? Josh shuddered unconsciously, and let his eyes slide shut. Just pretend it's Laura in your lap instead….
Laura closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She hated this. Trying to distract herself, she pulled out her phone and started scrolling through it angrily. She wanted to be the one sitting in his lap. She wanted to be the one he held on to like that. It wasn’t fair.
Finally, Anna slid from his lap. Josh breathed a sigh of relief, shifting onto his knees in order to stand up, but Anna caught him with a teasing peck on the mouth before he got very far. Once again, laughter filled the room.
That was the last straw. Laura bared her teeth, eyes flashing angrily.
“What’s so funny?” She snarled. “Forcing yourself on to someone else like that? He’s uncomfortable as it is. Have some decency. People like you have no shame, do you? C’mon, Josh.”
She pulled herself to her feet, grabbed Josh’s arm and tugged him to the door.
“Let’s go.”
Josh exhaled a sigh and let Laura pull him out, bewilderment flickering over his features. Why does she care so much?
"Where are we going?" he asked instead, wiping at his mouth with one hand.
(Finally Laura now tell him you're in love with him)
(We’ll see what she does. XD)
“Anywhere but here,” Laura responded sharply, her heels clicking loudly despite the music in the house. “I hate desperate girls like her. I hate them so much.”
She led him out, slamming the door shut behind them. “I want to go to the park. What about you?”
Josh flinched at the sound of the door slamming, but was thankful for the rush of cool air. “Why are you so upset about this?”
“Because I—“ she froze, catching herself before she spilled. She couldn’t tell him that. It would only crack the friendship they had recently built. It would be a terrible move. “Because you’re my friend—“ she tried hard not to cringe at that. “—and I couldn’t just sit and watch them make fun of you like that!”
Friend… Josh sighed. It was better than nothing, but….
“It’s fine..” he murmured, “I’ll get over it.”
