Cat walked to a window a few feet away from her. She started wiping down the window sill. Slowly getting closer to the princess.
Cat walked to a window a few feet away from her. She started wiping down the window sill. Slowly getting closer to the princess.
The other girl getting closer to her made Aurelie get the stupid fluttery feeling again, so she deliberately moved farther from her with her cleaning. “I probably have to go soon, or my father will find out I’ve been skipping my lessons again.”
Cat nodded. ”What type of lessons do you have to take?” She asks still moving closer to Aurelie as she wiped down the window.
“All kinds,” she explained. “Math, science, English, French. But the lesson I’m skipping is by far the worst one—etiquette. The other ones fascinate me, but etiquette—“ She frowned. “Let’s just say you should be glad you don’t have to take that class.”
”At least you have your other classes to make up for it, ” She said. ”you're right though you should get back. Our future queen needs to learn manners.” she smirked.
Aurelie sighed. “Yeah, you’re right. See you around.” She walked out, turning back to smile at the other girl from the doorway.
Cat watched her leave. Smiling and waving when she stopped at the doorway.
Pretty soon Aurelie was out of sight down the hall, and she went back to her lessons reluctantly. She had passed most of the allotted time sneaking off, so she knew didn’t have long to go.
Cat mentally counted to 10 and then looked around the room. She took out her clothes and started looking at the small decorations on some of the tables. she picked up a teacup and put it into her dresses pocket. She couldn't find anything else she could take that would go unnoticed. she slipped off her gloves and tossed her cleaning supplies back into the bucket. She walked out of the room and down the hall.
(time skip?)
(sure)
After dinner, Aurelie went to the gardens to take a walk in the beautiful twilight instead of being forced to socialize or retiring to her quarters. Her hair was in a braid and her dress was loose and flowy as she strolled through the gardens.
Cat wondered into the gardens. After asking around a little she heard this is usually we're the princess hangs out. She finished work an hour ago and was now out of her uniform. Now wearing trousers and a plain shirt. She silently walked looking for Aurelie.
Aurelie smiled as she smelled the sweet aroma of flowers and plants. It was a beautiful night, as the sky was a husky lavender gray and the moon was barely fading into view. A slight balmy breeze brushed past. She had no idea Cat was looking for her as she wandered into her path, not noticing the other girl at first as she was so wrapped up in her own little world.
Cat smiled when she saw Aurelie. "Hello Aurelie," She says bowing slightly as she turned to the princess. "I don't think I said thank you for helping me earlier."
She whirled around to face the other girl. “Oh, yeah! You’re welcome!” she chirped with a blush. Oh, gods.
Cat held back a smirk. "How where your lessons?" She asked walking closer to Aurelie.
“Fine,” she replied airily, not failing to notice that Cat was moving towards her. Was it possible that she actually liked Aurelie? “How was your day?”
"It was boring. Cleaned a few rooms after the drawing room but that's about it," she said stopping a foot away from the other girl. She willed herself to blush slightly.
“That’s cool,” she responded. Was she blushing? “So what brings you out to the gardens tonight?”
"Not really sure. I'm all done with work but I don't really want to go back to my room. It's really quiet. I'm used to a pretty full house," she said half telling the truth.
“Yeah, it’s always nice out here,” Aurelie commented with a dreamy smile. “I love the feeling of walking through the gardens at night. It clears my head.”
Cat nodded. ”It does seem nice, ” she said looking around them. ”I'm guessing you don't run into a bunch of people out here.”
“Not really,” she replied. “That’s part of the beauty of it.” She laughed. “I know that sounds really anti-social, but it’s true.”
”No, I get it. I used to walk in the woods when people became too much. Just me and my sketchbook, ” she admits smiling.
