She sighed, steeling herself. Cat probably wasn’t there, right? She began to climb up to the roof, being fairly loud and clumsy.
Cat heard someone come up and snapped out of her daze. Hiding more behind the box and taking out her knife. Just in case.
Aurelie soon had her head to where she could see the roof, and she didn’t see anyone. “Phew,” she sighed, glad that she was alone.
Cat closed her eyes again ignoring whoever was there. From the sound they made they were probably just hiding out. Kids come out here all the time, as long as they don’t go near her Cat leaves them alone.
Aurelie got onto the roof and sat down, watching the ground below with a small smile. She slowly took her hood off, revealing her mess of strawberry blonde waves.
Realizing that this person wasn’t leaving anytime soon she peeled over the box. Aurelie’s back was turned to her but she recognized her from anywhere. She cursed under her breath and ducked.
Aurelie heard something and turned around, not seeing anyone. Was she not alone? “Hello?” she called quietly, looking around. “Is someone there?”
She tried to steady her breath but accidentally hit the box. She was still hidden behind it but not for long.
"Hello?" Aurelie repeated, getting up and walking over to the box.
She didn’t give up still crouched down. She tried to hide her face but she had a feeling that wouldn’t help.
Aurelie huffed. “I know you’re there. I’m not going to hurt you.” She walked even closer, glancing down at the person hiding behind the box. “…Caterina?”
She looked up with a weak smile. “Hello princess,” she said standing up.
“Hello,” she replied stiffly. “I was just leaving. Good day to you.” She turned on her heel and began to walk away.
“Wait why are you here?” She questioned stepping closer to her.
“A momentary lapse in judgement,” Aurelie said without turning around. “Don’t worry; I won’t make that mistake again.”
“Good,” she mumbled but then got an idea. “But since you’re in town maybe you should go talk to and meet some people.”
“Like I would take advice from a liar,” Aurelie spat out, still not turning around. She walked to the edge of the roof to descend again. “Goodbye.”
She bit her lip. “Do you even know how to get back?” She called out a hint of concern in her voice.
“I can get back, thank you,” Aurelie replied coldly as she began to get down from the roof. “Good day to you.”
She sighed and watched her go but then started following her once she was far enough away.
Aurelie did manage to get back to the castle, though she made several wrong turns and had to backtrack. “Stop following me,” she said once she was alone. She wasn’t entirely sure if Cat was following her or if she had imagined it, but if she was wrong no one would witness it.
Cat made herself visible. “No until you’re safely in that castle! I’m not have your death on my hands,” she admits looking around to make sure there really wasn’t anyone around.
“You made it clear you don’t care about me, so either you were lying or you’re stalking me, and if it’s the latter I swear I will get you put back in prison. So please, Caterina, tell me why you keep playing games with me,” she said, turning around to face her. The look in her eyes was livid, though she kept her poise just she always did.
“I care just enough to not want to see you dead,” she admits turning around. About to walk away.
“Then don’t. Stop trying to ‘protect’ me if you don’t give a damn about how I feel. I can protect myself.” Her hands were at her sides in fists.
