Keiran looked around before turning back to Naudia. "Come this way." He asked happily, turning to a slightly different direction but waiting for her to follow.
"Ok, where are we going?" She asked, turning and following him without hesitation. She wasn't sure where they were going, but she trusted him.
"I know a great spot to watch the sunset from, they're beautiful around here." He answered, he normally wasn't one to trust so easily, but he felt even though their lives were so different. They still had a lot in common with eachother.
Nautia smiled, nodding, "Lead the way then, I've only seen a sunset from the water, granted, they are amazing."
Keiran led Naudia uphill until they reached the top where it dropped off on a fairly sleep cliff edge that was just tall enough for them to see over the treetops and to the water on the other side of the island and beyond that was a sunset of vibrant pink and golden colours that reflected over the water.
Her mouth fell open in amazement at the sight before them and she looked over at Kieran, eyes flicking back between him and the sunset several times. "..This is beautiful," She gushed, walking as close to the edge of the cliff as she dared to take in the full sight.
"I though you might like it" He smiled and came up beside her.
"I love it," She whispered, the brightest smile on her face as she turned and gave Keiran an unexpected hug, "thank you."
Keiran paused, surprised at first, but then hugged her back. "I'm happy you like it."
Nautia hugged him tighter for a moment before slowly letting him go and stepping away a few steps to go back to admiring the view.
(yo yo yo bumping)
(Oh shiiiiiiiiit I'm sorry)
Keiran released the hug as she did, a soft warm smile playing at his lips. He watched her for a moment before joining her in watching the view as the sky slowly shifted to deeper shades of red and pink, fading up into a deep blue that started revealing a few stars.
(lol it's oke, I just didn't want this to die)
Nautia watched and after a few minutes pointed to a point out a ways in the ocean, saying, "That's where I live, my city is right about there. Deep underwater though." The sunset was so much prettier from way up on land though, so many more colors reflecting off the ground and not just off the waves.
(Me neither man, for some reason I thought I had responded)
Keiran looked out to the spot she had pointed at. "Is it hard to navigate underwater? I often use the stars and the sun to help navigate but I guess that wouldn't work so well deep underwater huh?" he asked curiously.
She shook her head, thinking about it, "Not for someone like me, we have advanced vision that helps us. For a human, it would be much harder."
"Oh yes I guess that makes sense." He answered "As you've seen winged people are useless in water" he laughed lightly
"Do you guys have any special adaptations?" She asked, sure that they had evolved in some way to help with flying.
"We have a few, we have more developed back muscles and our shoulders are more flexible to account for the wings, our bones are also less dense than humans to make them lighter for flying." He answered.
She smiled and nodded, looking over at him and studying his wings again, "That makes sense, though it must be a disadvantage, are your bones more fragile too?"
He laughed lightly thinking of all the broken bones of his childhood "Yeah they break a lot easier, they heal a bit faster though."
"Ah, so like a trade off," She replied, smiling and thinking of the other special adaptations her kind had from living under the water and at higher pressures.
"Yeah! Do you have any adaptions like that? Like it's an advantage and a disadvantage?" He asked looking over at her.
Nautia nodded, motioning to him and then to herself, "While you have less dense bones, we have bones that are a little more dense and very strong, strong enough to withstand the high pressures that we live in. It's a disadvantage with the fact that when they break though, they almost never heal right and can take over a year to fully heal." She thought once more to any more adaptations they had, and almost immediately her tail came to mind, "Another big one is with our tails and fins. Our fins are quite important since they help us propel ourselves through the water and give us a way to defend ourselves by flicking them through the water at high speeds, but they are very easy to tear if they get caught on sharp objects."
(Sorry I typed out a response a while ago and then it deleted and I didn't have time to retype it but I do now XD)
