Blair gave a noise that sounded a bit like a purr, his arms and wings still wrapped around the prince as he slept.
Blair gave a noise that sounded a bit like a purr, his arms and wings still wrapped around the prince as he slept.
It was because of the purring noise that Trent opened an eye. “What the…” He yawned starting to register his surroundings. He noticed the pretty boy holding him close, which was then followed by horror when he realized the pretty boy was the demon. His face turned a furious shade of red as he realized he’d slept through the night cuddled on Blair’s lap exactly like the lapdog the demon had been describing yesterday.
Blair, being the deep sleeper he was, didn't wake up. He simply made more of the purring sound.
Trent stifled an annoyed groan. He didn’t like his captor by any means, but in human form he was a bit… well, cute. Dating a guy was already straight up against the law for anyone else, let alone a prince. But it wasn’t like anyone was hear to attack him for his thoughts. He very tentatively ran his hand through Blair’s hair.
Blair leaned into the touch, his dreams filled with, though he would never admit it, the prince. Well, mostly the prince with flower crowns and some other aesthetically pleasing items.
“Why can’t you just give the light back?” Trent whispered softly, continuing to run his hands through Blair’s soft hair. The demonnwould be so much easier to like if Trent didn’t feel nagging guilt in the back of his mind, knowing he was warm and safe while thousands suffered.
Blair woke up right before Trenton uttered that question, yet he kept his eyes closed and his breathing steady. Becuase the world deserved it and I deserved my revenge. He thought.
Trent sighed softly pressing his forehead to Blair’s for a moment before quickly pulling away. “Hell, I don’t even know how I’m going to live with myself knowing everyone’s dying out there while I live it up in here.” He whispered quietly, gritting his teeth.
Blair paid no attention to Trenton's touching. He was sucked into his own memories, memories of war and his family being burned at the stake for being witches, memories of famine, memories of when he and thousands of other souls had competed to become one of the main demon's seconds when he succeeded and he was taught magic and was given his own title, memories of his coronation to become the demon king of poison and agonizing deaths.
Trent fell silent, filled with his own guilt. He pulled away from Blair, hiding his face in his hands. “I’m a terrible prince,” He mumbled softly, trying to squirm his way out of Blair’s arms and protective, warm wings.
"No you're not." Blair said softly, loosing his grip so Trenton could get out once he figured out that the evil demon was awake.
Trenton quickly scrambled out of Blair’s lap, trying to regain his usual annoyed persona. “I-…” He struggled to come up with a harsh response before calling it quits and sighing. “Don’t pretend you know anything about me.”
"Hm, but I know your kingdom. And in this short time filled with you whining, I can tell you are much better then your ancestors were."
“If my ancestors were the ones doing this the kingdom would’ve been saved by now. Hell, even my father could’ve handled this.” The prince shook his head, too tired and stressed to speak as fancy as usual.
"Darling, your ancestors burnt people at the stake just to use them as a scapegoat for the troubles of the kingdom." Blair said, his wings sinking into his back.
“I don’t have time for your lies, demon.” Trenton had begun to shiver after being exposed to the cold for a few minutes. “I’ve been forced read like… every history book on my family.”
"And who were those books written by? Mhm, the royal scribe who was most likely watched by the king. Take it from someone who was alive when they did that, it did happen."
“Who am I supposed to trust more, darling?” Trent shot back his fists clenched. “My family who raised me, or the demon who kidnapped me and sentenced everything I care about to death!” He stormed back over to the spring, just as angry as he was after being kidnapped.
"Take it from the demon who was burnt alive along with his family becuase they were accused of being witches! Take it from the demon who was sentenced to death as a direct order from the king!" Blair said, his mis-matched eyes burning.
“Then why don’t you just do that to me too! If you’re so bitter!” Trent turned around, his eyes shimmering with the tears he was holding back. “I’m a prince aren’t I? Drop my charred body on my father’s doorstep if you have to! Killing everything living creature on this planet wont get you anywhere!”
"Becuase right now, you're the only okay offspring that your family line has produced," Blair growled, crossing his arms and turning on his heel.
Trenton turned away as well, this time retreating into a guest room and out of Blair’s slight. He let out a frustrated yell, tears streaming down his cheeks in the darkness.
