"Yeah, yeah, but my mom's gonna ask about it!" She nearly yelled, swerving to avoid another string of fire before turning onto the nearest exit, going up a ramp to a highway.
"Yeah, yeah, but my mom's gonna ask about it!" She nearly yelled, swerving to avoid another string of fire before turning onto the nearest exit, going up a ramp to a highway.
"Where the hell are they getting this shit?" He asked, watching the car follow them.
"Probably from a gun store," She replied, slowing the car and merging into a lane. "They can't shoot here, but they'll probably follow us wherever we go."
"Might as well try to loose 'em while we can?" He suggested.
She shook her head. "Never gonna happen. They probably have drones or some other crap," She admitted, huffing and tucking a black strand of hair behind her ear, the sun shining through the windshield on her light brown skin.
He watched her, nodding absently.
"And," She continued, "Even if they didn't, we'd have to be pretty far away from them, which would abandon Kathleen and all the other stuff. So I have no idea where I'm going."
"Shit…" He muttered.
"Yeah." She huffed a little, brown eyes flickering over to him. "Any ideas from you?"
"…No…" He admitted.
Lulu eased into a slower, highway pace, fitting in with all the other cars and rolling up the windows. There was a bit of a traffic jam up ahead, so she looked over to him with a raised eyebrow. "None at all?"
"I mean, nothing that would actually work." He said. "We can't throw anything ourselves, we can't try to loose 'em, and anything else is just straight up crazy."
"What's your idea of anything else?" Lulu asked, a little intrigued. "At this point I consider myself pretty familiar with crazy."
"You know the ending of Grease? Anything from a James Bond movie? Crime thriller cliches? Yeah, that."
"I'm not exploding my jeep as they drive into it," She mumbled with a small smile.
"I figured." He said, nodding.
"We could…we could stop somewhere public. You hungry?" She asked him, switching lanes.
"Yeah, but I don't have much money." He said. "Why?"
"We could get drive-thru and eat in the parking lot," She suggested, looking over to him as he took an exit. "Stall time, maybe."
"I mean, I'm always down for food." He said.
Lulu laughed a bit, turning into a fast food restaurant. "Cool. Alright, what do you want?"
"May I please get a milkshake?" He asked, a bit childishly.
"Duh. I dig milkshakes," Lulu muttered with a grin, ordering the same for both of them before driving towards the window.
"Thank you!" He said, grinning.
"It's nothing. I have money, and milkshakes are cool," She told him with a smile, leaning back in the chair. He was kind of cute when he smiled.
