“If you’re going to act like a child, then that’s how I’m going to treat you,” Elijah shot back, planting his feet in the ground. Why she was acting like this, Elijah had no idea, but what he knew for sure was that he was not letting her out of his sight. “Despite all these years, you are still like a reckless little child. Stop being stubborn and listen for once. You are not leaving this house, Elyse.”

He knew her, though, that was for sure. Just as much as he knew she wouldn’t listen to him, no matter what the risks were. And that frustrated him even more.

@gracehustle

"Watch me, Elijah," She spat back, anger flaring in her eyes, "I may be a reckless, stupid child, but it's better than becoming someone harsh and overbearing like you."

It was instinct to flip him off as she stormed off, and she didn't stop the gesture, only made sure that he saw it as she pulled her jacket around herself tighter and grabbed her knife from where it had been set near the door. Then, she walked outside, closing the door behind her and flipping him off one more time that he couldn't see before walking away into the dark grass.

His words stung, but she didn't let herself process them until she was a good ways away, up in a tree at the edge of the woods. Once she was nestled tightly into a nook in the branches though, her wall of anger retreated. It was as if a gate had opened, and everything he had said finally washed over her, how she was childish and reckless, how she was defenseless against vampires, and just her stubbornness alone was going to get her killed. Everything that she had known about herself, but said by someone else. That's what hurt the most. It took everything in her to just breathe out a long shaky breath and break off a small branch, starting the slow process of whittling it into a stake just for her own comfort. She would never use it on Elijah, but it let her vent her frustration and sadness without yelling or shedding tears.

Elijah whirled around when Elyse left, flipping the table and letting it crash on the wall in his anger. It shattered upon impact, but the furious vampire didn’t bother caring. Yes, he was harsh. Yes, he was overbearing. At least he was trying to keep them both alive, something she clearly wasn’t so keen on doing.

For a few seconds, he paced around the room, pinching the tip of his nose and breathing heavily. Fine, he’d give her a couple of minutes to cool down. Give her a little freedom she kept on demanding. Then he’d drag her back and not let her get out of his sight.

It hadn’t even been five minutes when the scent of a vampire hit him, right where he could smell Elyse, and though he dashed out of the house hoping to get to Elyse before something went wrong… he was too late.

Because she was already in the claws of one of his enemies, Onyx, whose red eyes were filled with malicious amusement as he stared at Elijah.

“Well, hello there, brother,” he greeted Elijah, his lips twisting into a grin. There was a stake in his shoulder, but he didn’t seem to care as he held Elyse against him, unbothered. “I see this one is still alive. Tell me, how did you break free from the Lady’s command?”

Elijah didn’t need oxygen to survive, but in that moment, he felt like he couldn’t breathe.

@gracehustle

It had happened in an instant, too quick for Elyse to respond or react. One minute she was peacefully in her tree, sulking away and carving at her stake, and the next she was yanked to the ground by a pair of rough hands that she had assumed were Elijah's. She went to protest the movement, but as soon as she looked up and saw the pair of bloodred eyes, her face went pale. All her rage and frustration helped her though, as she forcefully jabbed her half made stake into the vampire's shoulder. Again though, as it barely did anything and she was just yanked against the new male.

Elijah coming outside was even more of a twist in the whirlwind of activity, and it was clear in her eyes that she was still seething with anger, but a fair amount of fear was present on her face now too. She couldn't move, with a strong arm holding her arms to her side and her entire body tightly against the others. Nowhere to run, no backup, and no more stakes.

Onyx had been a human once, too. But unlike Elijah, who refused to let the vampire in him turn him into a monster, Onyx let it consume him. He had once been Lilith’s favorite pet, but when Elijah came into play… he got tossed aside. Ever since that day, the vampire sought to regain Lilith’s favoritism, wanting to be her number one. If Elijah had a choice, he would gladly give Onyx his position back.

“Let her go,” Elijah said slowly, eyes flickering between Elyse and him, his body tense. “Your problem is with me. She’s got nothing to do with this.”

Onyx’s grin widened. “Oh, she’s got everything to do with this, Elijah. You never deserved to have Lilith’s favor. You were never grateful for what you had. And when the Lady gave you one chance to prove yourself… you still didn’t take it.”

Elijah’s jaw clenched. He couldn’t let Onyx keep talking. If Elyse learned the reason why he was desperate to kill Lilith…

“Onyx—“

“Does the pretty little thing know why you’re really here, Elijah?” Onyx’s grin widened, and when Elijah took a step forward, he wrapped a free hand around Elyse’s throat. “Hm… I take it she doesn’t. Do you want to tell her, Elijah, or should I?”

@gracehustle

Elyse tried to meet Elijah's eyes several times, silently, and begrudgingly pleading for help with her eyes. This was a situation she couldn't get out of without some form of help.

Their conversation carried on without her uttering a word though, and just as she was about to speak up and growl out an answer to what the two of them kept hinting at, a tight hand was wrapped around her throat. Not tight enough that she couldn't breath, but still painful. His hand tightened ever so slightly, pinching her windpipe just enough that she had to focus on breathing more than talking.

Still, she tried her best to do something to get herself out of this situation, and that amounted to her trying, and failing to kick the vampire behind her as well as trying to hook her leg with her own and get him to loose his balance.

“I’ll get you out of it, Elyse,” Elijah said tightly, his swords unsheathed, eyes burning. He was going to get her out of it, and then they’d leave as fast as they can.

“Hm, I’ll tell her, if you aren’t inclined to do so,” Onyx continued, a grin on his features. He was clearly enjoying this, which didn’t surprise Elijah in the slightest. “Then we’ll see how much she wants you to save her.”

“You want the position with Lilith? Have it, I want nothing to do with the bitch,” Elijah spat. “Let her go, Onyx, and I’ll show you some mercy.”

“Did you know, Elyse, that Elijah here—“ Elijah dashed forward to attack, but Onyx stepped away just as quickly, the grin still on his features. Elijah attacked again, but Onyx easily sidestepped, and then put Elyse in front. Elijah stopped in his tracks. If he attacked again, and Elyse happened to get hurt… “Elijah here was sent to kill you. Why do you think you both were suddenly reunited?”

Elijah couldn’t being himself to look at Elyse in the eyes. Useless. He was useless all over again.

@gracehustle

Even if the whirlwind of talking and movement, Elyse tried to focus on getting out of the situation she had no control in. Being yanked around by vampire speed, and then roughly pulled in front of Onyx was just the start of it, and only caused her to grow angrier and more annoyed with the game this new vampire was playing with Elijah.

"Elijah was sent here to kill you."

That sentence made her freeze in whatever thoughts she had planned for murdering Onyx, the confusion clear on her face. It made sense, even as she tried to justify that Elijah would never do that. Seeing him again had been sudden, and Elijah wouldn't even look her in the eyes to confirm what she wanted to believe; that he wouldn't do that to her. "He wouldn't do that," She gasped out around the still tight grip on her throat, trying one more time to meet her friend's eyes, "Go to hell."

“No, it seems that he would not,” Elijah heard Onyx chuckle, but he still couldn’t bring himself to look at her in the eyes. Especially not after what she said. “He was commanded by the Lady, and commands are nearly impossible to disobey. Which means, he’s got a different agenda on hand.”

“You want a fight, Onyx? Then let’s fight. Stop this bullshit already,” Elijah snarled, his red eye burning. “Let her go and we can settle this.”

“No, no, I’m actually enjoying this,” Onyx chuckled. “How did you do it, Elijah? How did you manage to work around the command? What if I told you that the Lady doesn’t care, that she needs—“

”Stop,” Elijah squeezed his eyes, trying to block out Onyx’s words. He couldn’t hear any more of that, otherwise the control would snap. His blood burned, beckoning him to answer to Lilith’s call, but he tried to ignore it. “No matter what you do, Lilith will never make you her number one. You’ll always be beneath all her pets. You didn’t come here with her permission, did you? You know she’ll kill you for acting out on your own.”

A murderous look crossed over his face until he schooled it and grinned at Elijah again. “What if I bring the human to her, hm? I think my actions will be forgiven, and she’ll realize I’m way better than you.”

How was he going to get Elyse to safety? Onyx was clearly losing it, and one wrong move…

@gracehustle

"Leave us alone Onyx, go play pet to your Lady," Elyse spat out, even as her heart was racing in fear. Every word she said could lead Elijah to get in trouble, but frankly, if she had to choose between him staying safe and her, he would choose him.

The hand on her throat wasn't helping her think though her actions either. It made it hard to breath, and if she couldn't breath she was dead. She needed to get a real breath of air, before she started to freak out. Her neck was somewhere she didn't let people touch, and a hand squeezing the breath out of her was going to become more than she could handle.

She knew the panic was taking over, but she couldn't stop it. Even her eyes showed it, if Elijah would ever meet them. She couldn't get a full breath. Soon she probably would be vampire food, and that was even worse. The thought of fangs against her neck, draining her of her blood, leaving her defenseless, or worse, reopening the scar on her neck and leaving her for dead. But the main reason she was starting to freak out was the ever present hand keeping her from doing more than taking small breaths. She had to get away from that, if it was the last thing she did.

(Sorry this isn’t good enough…)

“Well, I’ll see you at Lilith’s, Elijah,” Onyx said, giving a mocking bow, bending Elyse down in the process as well. Elijah’s eyes widened as he realized what was going to happen.

“Onyx—“

“Bye bye, Elijah,” the enemy winked, and with that, both he and Elyse vanished, and Elijah’s cold, dead heart sank into his stomach.

Fuck. He lost her. Again. He couldn’t protect her. Again. Who knows what Lilith would do to her—no, Lilith would keep her alive. She wouldn’t touch Elyse, not unless she wanted to torture him. Then she’d made him do it.

He needed to get her back. He had to.

@gracehustle

(It's all cool, mine is terrible lol)

It was all Elyse could do to keep herself from all out panicking. In less than a few seconds, the only safe place she knew of above ground disappeared, as well as her best friend. She was alone with a psyco vampire, who was going to give her to an even more psyco vampire. The only thought that echoed in her mind was how she hadn't even said goodbye.

As much as she loathed it, her grip on Onyx tightened as he used his vampire speed. She hated that she did, but it made the breakneck speed easier to handle as they headed towards wherever she was bring brought. Elyse knew nothing more than it was far from where she had just been after all. And that it belonged to Lilith. The one vampire she was now on a path to destroy.

"Elyse!"

Elijah sped forward, trying to grab onto Elyse, but the second he got close… she vanished. So did Onyx. Elijah's mind went blank, his blades heavy in his grasp. He'd lost her again.

With white hair and blood-red eyes, Lilith was truly a sight. When she moved, she was graceful. Light footsteps, a presence so intense you just had to bow. Even for humans, especially for humans, it was nearly impossible to stand straight in the presence of the coven leader, a monster.

"My Lady," Lilith felt Onyx before he even entered the mansion, but she did not turn around to face him. Instead, she brought a rose to her nose and inhaled it, her back turned to her servant. "I've brought you something. A present."

Mingled with her puppet's scent was of a human's, though Lilith wasn't very keen on keeping humans. Cleaning up after them was a hassle. She preferred to drink their blood and then be done with it. She allowed other vampires to keep them as pets, however.

Slowly turning around, Lilith found herself staring at a human so eerily familiar in the clutches of her puppet. Her face was nearly blue, undoubtedly because of the grip Onyx had on her throat. Lilith blinked once, slowly, then her eyes narrowed into slits.

"Elyse," Lilith spoke her name, her voice soft despite her nature. Onyx let go of Elyse, pushed her on her knees, and then dropped to one knee as well. "I did not expect this thing to be alive still."

@gracehustle

Elyse was extremely close to passing out by the time they reached the palace, but she fought to stay awake, if for nothing more than to learn her surroundings. She let her eyes flick around the room, though they quickly settled on the pale woman before her, and within a second, she was sure this was Lilith. The power she commanded was intense, and even as every fibre of her being loathed the woman, she couldn't help but be impressed with the power.

That impressiveness was what brought her attention away from Onyx, until he pushed her forward onto her knees. Instantly, she took advantage of the lighter grip on her throat, leaning forward on her hands and gasping for a full breath as the vampire behind her knelt.

"I did not expect this thing to be alive still.'

"And you must be the famed Lilith," She spat out, still taking in as many breaths of air as she could, "You're not as pretty as I've heard." Insulting a vampire was a death sentence, but she couldn't help it. Not when this was her only chance, and when it was so tempting to lower their sky high pride a little.

The vampire merely pursed her lips at the blatant disrespect the human regarded her with. Lilith did not let it affect her. Such things were, after all, beneath her. They were such humanly reactions.

"Why did you bring her to me?" she asked Onyx instead, turning her icy gaze towards the vampire, who instantly bowed his head. "I assigned Elijah to her. Why is it that the target of Elijah is in your grasp?"

"I'm sorry, M'lady, but… Elijah disobeyed you," Onyx replied, bowing his head further. "He was protecting her rather than killing her. I only—"

"Did I give you an order?"

"No, ma'am…"

"Did I tell you I need the girl?"

"No, m'lady."

"Then why is it…" Lilith produced a blade from her sleeve and ran a thumb over it slowly, "that you decided, on your own, that you must bring her to me?"

Onyx stayed silent, though his teeth were gritted. He'd thought Lilith would be furious at Elijah. Instead… he dared to look up, and was taken aback by the malicious, hungry grin on his lady's lips.

"He actually managed to fight against a Command," she said, looking quite insane with that smile on her features and that look in her eyes. She let out a laugh, shaking her head. "Elijah is stronger than I thought. He must still have an attachment to his humanity… no matter, he'll come to save her. I'll have him in my grasp again, and this time, I'll make sure he never gets away again."

Her eyes slid to Elyse again, and she smiled once more, baring her teeth. "It seems you've managed to be useful after all, human."

@gracehustle

"He won't come for me," Elyse snapped back, forcing herself to magnify her anger instead of her fear at what would happen to Elijah if he decided to come for her, "He currently despises me. Have fun with that plan." She glared at Lilith, her courage returning with every extra breath of air she could get in.

Even if she looked angry and confident that he wouldn't come for her, deep down she was terrified that he would. Elijah, the most courageous human she had known, would come for her. No matter what happened to him. He would sentence himself to a eternity of misery to get her ass out of trouble, in debt to Lilith with his life. For once, she actually wished he would push away his humanity. WIthout his emotions, he wouldn't feel any remorse for letting her die in this manor, and he could live a 'free' life. Elyse would die, but he would live, and she would easily make that trade.

She didn't stop her glare as she grew confident enough to attempt to stand, hopefully without Onyx or Lilith snapping her neck. If she was going to be kept here as bait, she was going to try to kill the woman in front of her before Elijah got himself killed. She could do that.

(Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! These days have been a little weird for me. I didn't mean to make you wait for this long)

Lilith raised her hand a little when Onyx moved with the intent of hurting Elyse. She'd deal with his disobedience once she was done with the human. Lilith held a many things important, and obedience was one of them. Vampires who thought they knew what was better for her, she had no need of. They lacked obedience. She would teach it to him.

"If Elijah hated you, human, you'd have been long dead," the vampire leader said, her voice soft once more. "He refused a direct command for you. Most Linked vampires are dead before they can even think of disobeying. Perhaps his strong will stems from the fact that it was my blood that turned him."

Then she turned to Onyx, her eyes icy cold again. "Take her to the cell. Then walk yourself to the Room. I have no need for vampires that act on their own, and you'd best remember it."

@gracehustle

Elyse hoped her glare at the vampire was enough to rival how calm Lilith seemed. It infuriated her that she was so calm about this, that there wasn't a hint of rage or anger, not even frustration in her bloodred eyes. She wasn't recieving any of the thrilling anger she was used to, the anger that drove her own and made it so much easier to plan exactally how to kill the vampire.
And so her own glare was laced with hatred, even as Onyx once again clamped his too cold hand tightly around her neck. "Elijah is as good as gone from your clutches, Lilith," She hissed, even as she was being yanked to what she assumed was her cell, "I hope you said your goodbyes." It was the hope that her words infuriated the female that made the grip around her neck less prominent, and the fact that she was as good as dead in a cell less of a bother to her. She had gotten the last word, and made it sound quite good if she had any opinion on it. All she had to do now was make sure Lilith's death was just as amazing as her words.

Deleted user

The little human had spite, Lilith mused. Perhaps that was why Elijah was so smitten with her, because she was so hardheaded and held such little fear. Perhaps Lilith herself would enjoy breaking her slowly. Her and Elijah both.

Elijah wasted no time in grabbing the entirety of his weaponry. He needed to get back Elyse, and that meant he needed everything. The little human gadgets for slowing down vampires. He needed everything he could carry, now that he couldn't rely on Elyse.

It was when he set out that he felt a little calm. He couldn't rush in without a plan, and then it struck. Elyse wasn't stupid. She was anything but stupid. No matter how cunning Lilith was, Elyse would find a way to get free. All Elijah needed to do was to get her out without running into his former mistress.

That part… Elijah inhaled deeply. That part, he didn't know how to achieve. Yet.

@gracehustle

Elyse fought Onyx's grip for less than a few minutes, until she was seeing stars from the lack of oxygen. Only then did she go along with him, until his grip loosened. By then she was already tossed in a cell. It was already cold, and dark, clearly not meant to keep a human warm or alive for long.

In the few days that Elyse had been captured, the rebellion was already content with saying she was as good as dead. Sure, they had lost someone who seemed to know exactally how to take out vampires, but they sadly mourned her loss and moved on. After all, loosing one life was better than loosing hundreds.

Everyone but Westly seemed to be content with that option. While the others assumed the blue eyed girl was gone, he felt it in his bones that she was still alive. He pleaded with the leaders to assign him a team to look for her, but like he suspected, they responded with a hard 'no', needing the people to arrange another ambush. And so, he went on his own. Wrote a quick note to one of the higher rankings, swiped a pack of supplies, and headed out. Only two days after she had been taken, he was out looking for her. Using every minute of his time that he wasn't sleeping or hunting for food to walk further and search harder.

Deleted user

Knowing Lilith, she would keep Elyse alive to get to him. She'd just about dangle her in front of his nose, wanting the dog in him to run after her. So when, in his careful travels, when he found a piece of cloth with her scent in it, he wasn't surprised. It took every bone in his body to prevent himself from making a big mistake, and it took a lot out of him to calm his anger.

So he gripped the piece of fabric torn from her shirt, the shirt of his that she'd been wearing, and stuffed it in the pocket of his cloak. And he moved again, careful, all the while carefully planning.

Until he found footprints and a scent he was familiar with, a scent he'd smelled on Elyse, and paused. It was her friend. What was he doing here? Searching for Elyse, or on a mission to get her back? With the fact that there was only one scent, and one set of footprints… he assumed it was the latter.

Elijah hid in the shadows just in case after that bit of information, knowing he couldn't waste any time by running into a troublesome human. Unless… unless he could help him get Elyse back. As much as he hated to admit it, as long as he was under her control, he was of no use.

@gracehustle

Westly was exhausted by the time Elijah had found him, and he was running on no more than two hours of sleep. It was already affecting him heavily, and he didn't even notice the vampire as he trudged through the thick woods, squinting at the ground to try to see in the darkness. Eventually, he slowed, still not sensing the vampire as he stopped next to a large tree and set his pack down. He sat down next to it softly, pressing the heels of his hands against his eyes.
It was noticable how frustrated he was, even as he sat there silently, a variety of stakes and knives visible on his bag, strapped to his belt, and even shoved in his pockets. He was prepared, or had the weapons to be prepared, if he was paying attention.

Deleted user

(Ugh, I thought I'd responded)

The human seemed exhausted, and completely open, by the time he took shelter under a tree and began to rest. With his vampire eyes, Elijah could see him clearly, and he nearly snorted. Hiding in plain sight was pointless. If he had been any other vampire, Westly would have been already dead.

"I could kill you within a second," Elijah mused, stepping out of the darkness slowly. "You wouldn't even see me coming. Good thing I'm not about to, no?"

@gracehustle

(All good, I get it)
Westly glanced up at the words, blinking away the exhaustion in his eyes as he recognised the vampire that had taken Elyse. It was like a flip was switched in his brain and instantly he was on his feet, growling out a question, "Where is Elyse?" His hand gripped one of the stakes on his belt tightly and he kept close to the tree, thankful for the protection from behind, "You took her, and I'm here to get her back." Even though he hadn't seen the vampire's face clearly, he recognised the voice, and some features on the male's face.
