"Just take it easy," Eve murmured, smoothing his hair.
"I am" he said taking it at his own pace
Eve sighed. "What if I'm bad luck for you? You know… black cat and everything." She winked.
"I'm bad luck for myself" he said
"Obviously, or we wouldn't be having this conversation!"
"you think I did this on purpose?" he said
"No, of course not!" Eve objected. "I just meant that some people do just have bad luck."
"well their having me stay overnight to monitor my breathing and… so I don't implode or some shit like that" Issac said being sarcastic about the last part
"Then I'm staying with you," Eve said firmly.
"I'm not gonna stop you I'd lose" he said
Eve grinned. "Precisely." She pulled over a chair to sit at his bedside.
"what exactly do you have to do in the case I go to sleep" he said
Eve wrinkled her nose in confusion. "Stay here?"
"you have nothing to entertain yourself…." Issac said before his meds started kicking in
"I have you," Eve whispered back, smoothing his hair. "That's enough."
Issac laid asleep twitching every so often form the pain of breathing
(.)
Eve didn't let go of his hand, eventually falling asleep slumped over his bed.
The next morning Issac woke up all groggy and in pain
Eve was still asleep when he woke up. The light brought a shine to the tear tracks on her face.
Issac looked at her admiring her company
Eventually, her eyes fluttered open, and seeing him looking at her, she quickly wiped at her face. "Hey."
"you didn't have to stay" he said
Eve sat up straighter. "Of course, I did. I don't see anyone else coming."
