"Oh yes. Definetly. Thousands. Probably more. Honestly, I never really paid attention to how many people there are. Not important to me." He says leaning against the tree, which he was still inside of.
"Oh yes. Definetly. Thousands. Probably more. Honestly, I never really paid attention to how many people there are. Not important to me." He says leaning against the tree, which he was still inside of.
"Can you…" She trailed off, not sure if she wanted to continue. "Can you tell me more about the world? I barely know anything: my father tells me nothing of his travels."
"Uh, yeah sure. I mean why not. Though i dont particularly come from a very…. good part of the world. But I'll tell you about the good things. Under one condition"
Macey tilted her head to the side, slightly confused. "And what might that be?" She could almost certainly tell that he would want to be free from the tree, but she didn't want to assume. She also didn't want to do it, so she hoped that he wouldn't ask.
"will you please let me go" He says with a sigh. He was trying to stay calm, but he was extremely claustrophobic. His heart was racing in his chest like a hummingbird in a cage trying to get free. But hes always been good at keeping composure.
She stared at him, then a smile broke on her face. She began to laugh softly. "I think you should ask the tree that. I don't control it. I simply speak to its spirit. It's not gonna let you go if it doesn't wanna."
"Uh….okay." He looks up at the tree and takes a deep breath. "Uh, hey…..tree. Could you maybe…let me go. I'm a little claustrophobic and i dont really…..enjoy this. I don't know, maybe if you let me go-" he turned to the girl with a sigh. "Okay, I'm talking to a tree. This isn't working"
Macey spoke something in a foreign language, but it wasn't directed at Jin. She was silent for a few moments and then spoke in the language again. After a few more moments, she picked her violin up and began to play. The tree slowly began to loosen its grip on Jin and reverted back to its original shape.
"Uh, thanks…… So what exactly is….this? Are you like magical or something?" He asks her jokingly followed by a little laugh.
"Yes and no," Macey replied. "I talk to the spirits of nature, but I'm very deeply connected to them. So much so that I can speak their language: that's what I was speaking before. My violin allows me to connect to them on the level that I can control them."
"Oh dang. Okay i wasn't being serious." He says stepping a little closer, stretching his arms a little. Man did he hate enclosed spaces. He looked at her for a little bit before realizing she was in fact serious.
"Woah, okay. ….uh. Hm i dont know what to say to that.
"Why did you think I wasn't being serious? I don't really know how to be the opposite. I don't see people, so I don't know how anything works." She stared up at Jin from her place on the ground.
"well, see the thing is….. in….America…or Korea….or actually… anywhere in fact. There has never been….magic. So I automatically thought you were joking. But now that I've seen it….. well you're lucky I'm a chill person, or else I would be freaking out right now" he says with a little laugh. He thought he was pretty funny.
"I don't understand what is so funny about the situation." Macey had a confused look on her face. Then she went quiet, listening. "Fuck!" She hissed to herself. She jumped up quickly and placed her violin in its case, then picked up her bow and arrow and began running towards her cabin a few kilometers away.
"wa-wait! What's happening!?" He asks quickly catching up to follow her. His white hair blowing in his face slightly as a gush of wind washed over him. He caught up to her and touched her shoulder lightly.
"wait, miss uh…… where are you going?" he asks her curiously, though a tad disappointed.
He didn't want to end his conversation with her just yet.
Macey completely ignored him. She kept running, and quickly got away from Jin as she was more used to running long distances. As she reached the cabin, she placed her violin on the ground and drew an arrow. She remained silent, the only sound being her ever so slightly raggedy breath. She watched for what the tree had told her, and when she saw it she fired.
Jin followed her as she ran, trying to keep up with her. Though when he got near the edge of the forest, he lost sight of her.
He looked around the trees and the brush for her. Nowhere to be seen.
Was he dreaming? No he specifically remembers staying up so he could go into the forest. This couldn't be a dream.
The bear let out a roar and tried to attack Macey, despite being meters away and with an arrow through its heart. She fired two more arrows, and the third arrow managed to completely pierce its heart. "Meat for tonight."
The only noise he could hear was the soft hum of the birds in the background and crickets chirping in the grass. A gush of wind blew through the different shades of green on the ground. The smell as fresh as a new load of laundry straight out of the dryer. But this was a different kind of fresh. He ran his fingertips along the coarse bark of the tree as he looked around.
His ear twitched slightly when he heard something….. a bear? His head whipped around and his blue eyes flashed through the dim light of the forest, the little bit of sunlight coming through the leaves of the trees.
He followed the sound. Where it came from. He had incredible hearing, though it didn't help with all of his loud friends.
He ran through the bushes and twigs as they snapped underneath his converse.
"where was that?" He says through ragged short breathes as he leaned against the tree.
Macey walked over to the bear and pushed the arrows to go deeper, making sure that the bear was dead. She then proceeded to take the arrows out and walk into the cabin, grabbing a dagger. She walked back out and slit the bear's throat, cleaning the dagger of blood on the grass. She grabbed the bear by its ankle and dragged it towards her cabin. If she cut the meat the right way, it could last days.
(should he find her cabin? Or like mind his own bussiness?)
(he could probably wonder and then find her skinning and cutting the meat or something)
(ooh okay)
He wandered around for a bit more, getting distracted by the nature around him. He thought he spotted a chameleon but it was just a normal lizard. Which he was disappointed by. He also accidentally fell a few times. Which he wasn't surprised by.
His hands were now a little dirty, but nothing a little water wouldn't get rid of.
Macey bent down and got to work on the bear. She cut one piece of meat off and began to skin it, removing any bone fragments left inside the mean from the messy cut. The meat could last a few days, and she guess that that Jin person wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Seong-Jin got lost for a little bit before he stumbled upon a clearing with a little cabin.
He stood behind a tree as he saw a bear? Was that what noise he heard earlier? Wait no, a person was there!
He squinted to see a girl? That girl from earlier!
He stepped forward "finally! I found you!" He says with a smile and a wave/
