Meredith perked up when she heard something that wasn't her teacher or her music. After a quick look confirmed no one was even looking her way, she relaxed back into her seat.
Probably nothing. Might just still be a little tired.
Paisley had the same reaction, looking around at everyone. Her conclusion was similar to whatever she heard. She was probably still delirious. You got that right, I'm very tired.
”Holy- Whoa!” Meredith exclaimed as she fell out of her chair at hearing the reply. She knew for a fact that no one had been looking at her that time… Before she fell at least. ”Sorry, professor. Thought I saw a spider.” she gave as a weak explanation.
Ok, what the heck is going on? Who are you?
Paisley saw a girl fall out of her chair and she giggled ever so quietly. Then she heard another thought that almost seemed to be from someone else. What in the world?? I know who I am… I hope that girl's okay.
Meredith groaned softly hiding her head in her hand.
Oh great. Whoever is in my head saw me fall. That's an embarrassing first impression. She gave a brief huff before… Wait, that means… We’re in the same class?
Wait… you're the girl that fell… you're in my head?! Paisley looked around wildly for the girl. She found her and saw that her head was down in her hands. I'm looking at you right now, lift up your head.
Meredith slowly obliged to keep from drawing more attention to herself. She rubbed at her face a bit to appear she was just tired, maybe hiding a yawn, as she looked for the owner of the other voice in her head. This is just too weird.
Once she saw the only person actively looking at her, Meredith gave a small wave. Hi.
… I know right? As Meredith waved slightly, Paisley did the same. Hello… soo I'm Paisley.
She raised a brow, Paisley? That's a Oooh wait! you can hear me! Great, as if being socially awkward was bad enough, now I'm mentally awkward… And you can still hear me… Dang it! She let her head thud against the desk. I’m sorry. I don't really have a filter on my thoughts yet. She turned her head back to face Paisley, giving her a weak smile. I’m Meredith.
Paisley giggled a little, but she quickly silenced herself. It's okay… I'm probably going to slip sometime soon… I'm honestly using all of my energy to not think about stupid stuff. It's nice to… meet you?? I don't know…
Meredith gave a slight giggle, sitting back up. That's a little reassuring. Nice to ”meet” you too, I guess. Though this is the strangest meeting I’ve ever had.
Same… but I have had some… strange meetings in the past… don't ask… Paisley smiled. So, do you want to 'actually' meet after class?
Meredith raised a brow. You know saying ”don’t ask” usually makes other people more curious. She smiled. Sure. That would be nice.
Paisley sighed. Ya see… er… ya hear… I don't know anymore… anyway, this is just the beginning of my strange thoughts… I'm getting tired again, and I just woke up. She laid her head on her desk since her brain was already super tired.
Meredith had to choke back a laugh. Not much of a morning person, huh? You don't have to explain the other strange meetings if you don't want to. I'm pretty sure this one wins though.
Noo not at ALL. I was late this morning and still half asleep when I got here. The teacher was speaking a little louder and Paisley lifted her head to see what was going on. Around her, she saw people getting up and going out the door. Oh FINALLY
Since class was over, Meredith allowed herself to actually laugh as she gathered her stuff. You said it. She paused for a moment facing Paisley. Did you want to meet at the door or just walk over now?
Uhh… shoot I have to actually meet her… oh shoot… you can hear this… I'm a mess… Paisley stood up as she grabbed her stuff shaking her head. I'll just come over to you and we can walk to the door.
It’s ok. Remember, I did the same thing earlier. Meredith tried to stay calm and gave Paisley a reassuring smile. Aw, great. Why do I have butterflies in my stomach right now? … I just did it again. Sorry. She winced a bit at her mental slip up.
Paisley stood still for a second with wide eyes. I literally did nothing with my hair… I look like I just woke up… why today or all the days… AHHGG this is so hard. She tried to smooth her hair down. It was a mess, she had taken a shower the night before and it dried in the weirdest ways. Jeez… I need to calm down… I never care what I look like when I meet people. What is this… She cringed at herself and started walking over to Meredith.
Meredith had to try really hard not to laugh, not wanting to embarrass Paisley and make a worst first impression, though she was almost shaking with the effort. It’s ok. We already know each other… kinda. I don't even wear makeup most days. But she did feel slightly underdressed. I usually don't care what I look like when I meet someone either. But you’re… I mean, I… I’m gonna try to shut up now until you get over here.
Paisley took way to many deep breaths as she approached Meredith. They were basically the last people in the classroom. "Hello, Meredith!" Paisley said with a smile and a wave.
”Hi, Paisley. Nice to actually hear your voice.” She smiled back.
Oh my god, that was cheesy. What is going on with me today? Get a grip Mer.
It's nice to actually hear your voice too… Mer She shook her head. "Oh my gosh sorry… let's just… let's go."
Meredith actually blushed, laughing. “It’s ok, it’s ok. I guess we’re just going to have to get used to this.” Walking towards the door. “Uh, what class do you have next?”
