I fell asleep before I got that message lol. Sleep is well needed
She misses the trickle of water as it runs down through her hair, soaking each strand and turning it into a wet mass that drapes around her shoulders as she stares up at the sky. She misses opening her mouth to taste the first few droplets, sweet and fresh as they slide down her throat. She misses the feel of wet grass underneath her feet, and she wants to dance in the rain again.
It doesn't rain in space, and Peela misses the rain.
She buries her head in her arms and stares out at the void that stretches out for miles from nowhere and she almost doesn’t notice when a tiny perfect bead of water falls onto her foot.
She stares at it for a moment, and picks it up with her fingertip, letting it trickle down her nails and onto the back of her hand. As it does, another falls, and another, and her leather tunic is becoming soaked. She throws her head back, and looks up at the sky, and the view is dizzying as the rain rushes towards her. She has water in her eyes and she isn’t sure if it’s from the rain or from happiness and she doesn’t exactly care.
Peela laughs and laughs, spinning around with her arms thrown out wide as if to welcome the rain, to embrace it, and she turns around and sees that she is not in space anymore, and she doesn't care. She is out in a vast field like the ones on the high-low plains of home.
She is happy, for the first time in many days. Peela had missed the rain.
She stood there watching the rain drip down the window of her New York apartment. Slowly, Cynthia pressed her hand against the cold glass. She could feel the hunger inside her, begging for food. The kitchen was only a few feet away but she stayed put, watching the tiny people below her. With the pain the hunger brought it also brought this weird feeling that she’d gotten addicted to. The feeling that promised something she wanted to fulfill a few years ago. She knew it was bad to not eat, but hunger a was normal now. She’s gotten better, knowing that little healthy snacks throughout the day were good for her.
After peeling herself away from the glass and view below, Cindy went into her room to change. She put on her usual fishnet tights and black skirt, topping it off with a black Queen crop top. Quickly throwing her long hair into loose space buns she turned to the full mirror, in which she examined herself. She looked skinny. But not an unusual skinny that caused people to stare, or where people would know. Most people thought she worked out and that’s what she let them think.
Peela looked down and saw…
Nothing. There was nothing beneath her. She screamed, but she couldn't make sound anymore. Rain fell onto her, now through her, and she found herself…
In front of a mirror, but not with her own face. She screamed again, but this time the sound echoed through the unfamiliar room, and that in and of itself was terrifying. She looked out the window and saw specks flying through what she could only assume was a road, but it wasn't like the shiny clean type she now knew, or the dusty, overgrown one she had left behind. It was new and dirty and absolutely terrifying to her.
She'd rather be back on the ship, in the cold metal room with only her thoughts to console her, only the vast expanse to entertain her.
Staring into the mirror everything started to disappear. Slowly everything around her was spinning into the non existent. She must be getting light headed again. Yea. That’s it. That’s a reasonable explanation. Cindy tried to sit down but found the task to be oddly impossible. There was nothing under her, but she wasn’t failing. Cindy closed as tightly as they would.
Wet. All she felt was wet, she didn’t even have the hunger that was there a minute ago. She opened her eyes to find that she was out in a field. Not her apartment. She looked down to find the clothes she was wearing weren’t her’s. She caught a glimpse at her hands and moved them up in front of her face to examine them. She definitely wasn’t in her body anymore.
"Peela! Where'd you go, there was a malfunction with the teleportation mechanism and next we knew-" a pale, dark haired male with elvish ears, horns like a demon's, and a goatee walked up. His crisp suit was utterly soaked. "What were you thinking?" he asked, gripping her shoulders.
Peela stepped around the apartment. She noticed something heavy was wrapped around her toes, those shoo-things that Celia would always try and make her wear. Well, that would never do. She kicked the barriers off and padded around the room barefoot, wondering what to do next.
Cindy jumped back out of his grasp, falling down to the ground by the—she wanted to say person but didn’t know if he fit the description—in front of her. She studied studied the guy before she speaking. “Where am I?” She asked quietly, to startled to speak any louder.
Mina let herself into Cynthia’s apartment as she normally does at this time. She walked into the kitchen, opening the cupboard to see if she had eaten anything. She grabbed a cookie before closing the door. “Hey Cindy?” Mina shouted, a little confused that she hadn’t come to greet her yet. “Are you ready to leave yet?”
"You're lucky you ended up here instead of the vacuum of space. Come, we'll get you back to the ship, matter transportation confuses even the best of us." Grayle (his name) said, moving to help steady her.
"Vhat? Who* is that?" Peela asked. "Vherrre is yourr voice coming frrom?" this place echoed like mad, she thought, it was very… unfo- unfa- unfartunitee.
*I allow a few exceptions to her pronunciation in cases where it wouldn't make sense for her to pronounce words a certain way.
“Vacuum of space. Matter transportation. What?” Cindy scooted back and stood up, keeping her distance from the guy. Which just occurred to her she didn’t know the name of. “Who are you?”
Mina wandered over to the bedroom, a little confused at the sudden accent Cindy had gained. She opens the door to find her wandering around the room confused. “There you are. Are you ready to leave yet? We’re going to be late if we don’t get moving soon.”
(Ok)
"Peela, it's Grayle, don't you recognize me? That teleport must have scrambled your mind more than I had thought. Let's get you to the ship," he said, dragging her along. Strange, Peela was much stronger than he, and she wasn't resisting at all. Maybe she had finally learned her lesson after getting scorched for the hundredth time. Flame abilities, among others, could come in handy, which was probably why he used them so much.
Don't trust this stranger. Don't trust her. Peela ran it through her mind a few times, and then said, "Yes, I am. Is therre a problem vith that?" she asked.
“Grayle?” Cindy stumbled behind the guy as he pulled her along, to confused to fight it. “And who’s this Peela you keep speaking of?”
“Oh good.” Mina found her shoes abandoned in the middle of the room. She walked over to them and handed them to Cindy. “Just put your shoes on then we can leave. And what’s with the accent?”
"Oh holy midnight, you must be more confused than I thought. Peela, that's you. You're in shock, you must be. Let's get you back to the ship, we'll fix you there." he sighed, and they suddenly disappeared into nothing, and reappeared into a control room, blinking lights and rusted parts all around them.
"Vhat is the need forr shoes? I do not like them, I vill not vhearrr them." she glared, and strolled out the door, ignoring the remark on the accent.
So this person whose body this is, is named Peela. After being started when they turned into nothing, the first thing she did was check to see if she was still in Peela’s body. After seeing that she was she looked around the room where they had just appeared in. “Where are we?”
Mina chased after her, wondering why she was acting so strange. “We have to go to work… did you hit your head today?” Something wasn’t right with Cindy, and Mina didn’t like it. As many problems as Cindy had, there’s been nothing like this.
"The ship. Peela, are you okay? You seem delusional." Grayle said. Light footsteps gradually got louder as a petite, blonde-haired girl with milky pale skin, lavender coloured eyes, and vibrantly patterned wings ran in and grabbed around Peela's waist. "I thought we'd lost you, you stupid, stupid thing!" she sobbed into the leathers.
"No. I did not." she said firmly, accusingly. "Vhy vould I be so foolish as to do that?"
Cindy stiffly stood there as this girl hugged her, sobbing. Not wanting to discomfort the girl she didn’t push her off. “Who are you…?” She whispered in a soft voice.
“Okay, seriously what is with the accent.” Mina grabbed Cindy’s wrist with one hand, shoes in the other, and pulled her towards the door. “We need to leave now if you want to get to work on time. We can talk on our way there.”
"Peela? It's me, Celia. Please tell me you're joking, please…" she mumbled, then pushed a wobbly kiss onto cupid's bow lips. "Peela…" she mumbled. Grayle looked away awkwardly, relationships weren't his thing.
"This is my norrmal acchend." she slipped up on accent. She didn't care. "Ve shall go to vork. Take us to this vork you speak of.
Cindy pushed Celia off of her, surprised by the kiss. “You-you can’t kiss me. I’m dating some-someone.” She stumbled on her words, to focused on backing up.
Mina have a small nod and decided not to question Cynthia any more. “Okay… as long as you can cut some hair you should be fine.” Mina guided her out of the apartment, locking the door behind her.
"What? P-Peela, you don't remember… me?" she ran off, sobbing. "Yeah, you majorly screwed up there." Grayle said. "Peela, you two are engaged. You're getting married after the situation with you-know-who blows over. And what's wrong with your voice?" he asked.
"A warrior of the Shi'Ayr does not cut their hair. It is a shame to the Goddess." she said firmly, walking out of the apartment.
“Engaged? I’m not engaged. I mean she is pretty cute and seems really nice and maybe if I wasn’t already seeing someone, I might go out with her.” Cindy rambled on for a minute. “And what the ‘you-know-who’? Because I don’t know who…” Cindy decided to figure out some more answers before she answered anything else.
Mina ignored her comment and walked down the hallway to the stairs. When she reached the stairs she turned to Cindy. “Don’t forget Alex is stopping by the salon today. So try to not be doing,” she motioned in the air with her free hand, “this while he’s there. He’ll get worried again.” She handed over the shoes. “Just take these. At this point I don’t care if you put them on, just bring them with you at least.”
"Ahem. To put to use one of Brie's grotesque but entirely appropriate Earth terms, what the fuck? She. Is. Going. To. Be. Your. Wife. Honestly Peela, do you even remember anything? You made the first move with her. You went through literal hell and back for her. Do you seriously not remember anything? Grayle asked. Brie walked in as if summoned by her name. "Hey, Celia's freaked out, no idea why. Snail's handling it. Oh, Peela, hey! You're back!" she waved, then opened up a bag if crisps and sat on a crate eating the salty flakes of potato and saturated fat.
"I vill take yourr shoes if you so insist." she said stiffly, but didn't wear them.
Cindy awkwardly waved back to the new person in the room. She turned back to Grayle and walked over whispering to him. “I don’t know where I am, who I am or what the fuck is going on. Can you please help me out? That’s a lot to ask. But basically what I’m saying is I don’t think this is my body and whoever this Peela person is isn’t here…”
Mina didn’t respond, she continued down the stairs, through the lobby and out into the sidewalk so they could walk to work.
(Weird question: are you from Europe? I’m only asking because of ‘crisps’… sorry for the weird question)
(Nah, I'm from the USA. My grandparents on my mom's side are though, and since we live nearby each other and get to see each other a lot, a few things rub off. I also lived with them for a good few years when I was little after my mom had a stroke and couldn't take care of us for a while (my dad worked all the time and couldn't do much either) so I guess I just kinda got the lingo.
Oh damn I just gave you my entire backstory didn't I well oh shit. Sorry, you probably didn't need a huge vent. Lol let's RP now sorry!)
"Pels, I can hear you ya know. What do you mean you aren't… you're kidding me… and since when do you speak like an intelligent person? No offence." Brie said. "That's rich coming from you. I think she's serious." Grayle said.
"Vhere are ve going?" Peela asked loudly. She gave a passing stranger that had given her an odd look a deadly glare.
