An alien prince and a human, clone slave, whose destinies have collided in ways no one could have ever imagined or predicted.
The prince has been raised on his planet, in the lap of luxury. Starships run by slaves that he has never taken any notice of, a palace whose main workers are also slaves. He is spoiled and prideful, and doesn't take any notice of other's suffering or lives.
The slave trade is thriving, built on clones, who aren't classified as people. They are seen as lesser. Less than the humans, less than all the alien species, simply because they are not born naturally.
The human, clone slave. He has been chosen as the new personal slave to the Thrakian prince. The prince may do whatever he wishes to the clone. May hurt him, beat him, starve him, and worse.
The Thrakian people have a type of bond among each other; the mate bond, the soul bond. The bond doesn't always materialize at first meeting, or even first touch, but when it first comes into being, it is obvious to both involved. Even if one of the pair isn't Thrakian.
The prince doesn't like his new slave all that much. The slave, for his part, hates his new master with a desperate, vicious hatred. But then, that hatred slowly becomes something closer to apathy, as he realizes that the prince truly doesn't care about him either way.
And then, the unthinkable: a bond between the two. The prince and the slave are mates. They are bonded, made for each other. But the slave is a clone. Clones cannot be bonded, or so was believed. Now, they must figure out what to do, all while hiding their bond, even as they slowly grow to love each other.
Enemies to lovers, slow burn gay romance. Very slow burn, lots of angst and tension. I will be the slave/clone. The Thrakian's look nearly perfectly human, by the way.
