"Non-perishables, like jerky and dried fruit. We can use the snow for water, which saves space." Manon ticked off on her fingers.
"Non-perishables, like jerky and dried fruit. We can use the snow for water, which saves space." Manon ticked off on her fingers.
She nodded. "But we also have to take into account there may be chemicals in the snow…" Erin mumbled.
"Well we could boil it, but we would have to decide whether starting a fire is worth what it might bring." Manon pulled a face as she thought.
"You're right…" She looked over the attic once more. "I'd say we have everything from up here… It's best that we get the food and head off."
She nodded. "Lead the way." We can only hope there are people in town, alive and normal.
She jogged down the stairs until they were in the kitchen once more. She grabbed another hiking pack and opened the pantry, pulling granola bars, canned tuna, and chicken, a few stray MREs, and dried fruits and jerky. She turned to Manon, "Do you think this is enough?"
"That should be, yes." She grew quiet for a moment, face growing solemn before she met Erin's eyes. "We have found ourselves in quite the situation, no?"
"We have…" She sighed. "I just hope we can remain safe until we figure this out…" She swallowed nervously.
"I have your back if you have mine." She said, a determined spark in her eye. "We will figure out what is going on, together."
"I'm glad you're determined, now, I think we should head out. We have our supplies and I want to get as far away as I can from that damn forest." Her brown eyes glared at the direction of the forest.
(Small note, I'm going to be disappearing off the forums for a bit, so I apologize for future sporadic replies.)
((It be like that, don' worry. I look forward to the times that you're on!
"We have to go through it to get away from it. Let's go see what has become of this area, yes?" She followed the direction of Erin's gaze, trying not to let any worry show in her tone or face.
She looked at her as if she was insane. "But-?" She muttered, worriedly.
"Well how else are we to get through? Any road will not have the amount of cover we will need, making us sitting targets." It wasn't the right expression, but she had other things on her mind, and it made her point.
"You're right…" She sighed, "we should stay at the edge though." She argued. "I-" She paused to glance out the window. "really don't think getting lost inside there would be a good idea…" She winced once more at the picture installed within her mind of the lake.
((Good t' hear from you again!
"You make a good point." Manon nodded, following her glance to the window. "We should go now though, or we will be caught out there as the sun goes down. I do not think night will be as kind as the day."
She nodded respectfully as she strode to open the door. "You have everything?" She asked with a twinge of anxiety.
(Thank ya, my presence on this site will continue to be shaky, sorry about that.)
"Everything I can." She said surely, shifting her feet a bit. It would look like nervousness to someone else, but she was making sure her knife was secured inside her borrowed boot.
