Marithen and Esmeralda looked at each other worriedly for a moment. Then, Marithen turned to Vē'Êtherñøth.

“If you can, alert as many cities and settlements in Ethrin as possible. Tell them to prepare, and to hide as many citizens as possible. We must lock down all of the cities, manually and magically, to protect everyone. If the Baron cannot find anything to feed on, then he might return to sleep,”Marithen said.

Esmeralda glanced at Marithen with a somewhat disdainful gaze. She didn’t much like the idea of hiding, but she understood Marithen’s intentions.

On’nyosh considered what all he could do to help, primarily because he wasn’t in the mood to hide. He could call on Madam Gidālia, or Boromaxus even. But, with what little he knew of the Baron, he suspected that one would refuse and the other wouldn’t survive.

Another individual came to mind after a moment. An old scholarly vampire who had once been a priest. Vahnōkar. Could he possibly have a clue on how to defeat the Baron? Or, at least, avoid him?

Though, from what it looked like. There were others in the throne room that knew more of the Baron than he did, and it nagged at him.

“Okay, can someone remind me who the fuck the Baron is? I vaguely remember the name, but I can’t fucking think of where I heard it before,”On’nyosh requested.

Vē'Êtherñøth turned at the king's words and nodded.

"I can. Give me a moment…" she says, closing her eyes and starting to chant under her breath. When she finishes, she waits for the telltale feeling of people using the spells she just taught them to seal up their houses.

"It is done." she says when she finally feels people start to use those spells.

"The Baron is a creature of immense strength and power, with a never-ceasing hunger for flesh and blood. It is rumored that when the Baron has had its fill of blood, it will 'Awaken'. Whatever the fuck that means." Cass says, looking at Vē'Êtherñøth.

"Are you sure that you've done everything you can, Vē'Êtherñøth?" she asks, worried.

"Well, I haven't, because if I had, there would be an airtight seal over the kingdom right now in hopes of suffocatin the Baron." Vē'Êtherñøth snaps, then taking a deep breath of her own.

"No, I haven't done everything I can, Cass. If I had, noone here would be alive besides me." she says softly, her wings growing the membrane required for her to fly. She takes flight when that finishes, wanting nothing more than to be alone.

Tina gave a small yelp of surprise at Sanguis's actions, then said "Wheeeeeeeee!" when it started down the mountain. When their path leveled out, she fell silent, unsure what to say or do while they went on their way to Ethrin.

"So, master. What are your plans for Awakening yourself truly?" she asks, genuinely curious.

"I assume they're the same as always, right?" she adds, smiling.

(Sorry for the long wait… school fucking sucks, and I'm tired.)

Vocivus listens to the flow of the monarchs, the jesters, the sorcerers and Cass's thoughts, and snorts.

"Foolssssss… all of them…" he hisses.

Sanguis twists its head to face Tina, looking at her with something akin to confusion and agreement. It chitters once more, the sound rising and falling as though it were actually speaking. It then reaches the kingdom to find the streets empty and the houses blocked. It hisses, then starts tearing away at the enchantments that had been lain down on the first house it encounters.

Deleted user

(You're good, Silent!)

Cass just listens and waits, knowing Sanguis will be at the edges of the kingdom soon.

"He's here." Vē'Êtherñøth states, concentrating on reinforcing the house the creature is attacking.

Cass shouts "Fuck!" and storms off to find Vocivus without too much hope. The damn spymaster seems to be adept at hiding his quarters.

Tina sighs and jumps down when Sanguis reaches the house, gently pulling it away while she mutters under her breath, dispelling the wards on the house. After a couple minutes, she's through. She shifts back to humanoid and leads Sanguis straight through the still closed door, going around it in a way.

"Time to eat, Master." she grins, laughing.

Vē'Êtherñøth sighs. "It's already through the wards. Although, I assume it has help. Morespecifically, the help of a demonoid."

Cass, meanwhile, is currently stomping around the castle, oblivious to it all.

(I've been waiting for a bit, lmao! Seriously, this is one of the most interesting things I have with you, and I'm intent on progressing to see how shit goes!)

On’nyosh sighed.

“So, basically this Baron is worse than Nyx. Wonderful,”he said, rolling his eyes.

He paced a moment, wracking his brain to figure out who he could call on to assist. The quicker they got rid of the Baron, the better. And unfortunately, Lucitius’ help was no longer an option.

Vahnōkar still lingered in his head. He also remembered a snow elf… Jerafar, a master wizard… in the Alyiin Mountains. On’nyosh snorted at that.

Then a few more names came to him, and none were friends. Quain, Maxar, Zenius, and Kaebornok. On’nyosh groaned. He hated the first three, and the fourth was unpredictable, but they could be of potential use.

He turned to Vē'Êtherñøth, overhearing all that she said and wincing a bit.

“Do you mind helping me out for a bit? I think I might know a few people that could help. That’s only if you’re willing, if not, then just point me in the direction of Cass, wherever she went,”he asked the sorceress.

Marithen turned to Esmeralda with concern. She sighed, standing.

“I will help organize where everyone in the castle will go. Then I will come back to help you organize the rest of this,”she said.

He nodded and she left. Marithen then grimaced at Vē'Êtherñøth’s last words.

“Is there a way we can figure out who this demonoid is, and somehow capture them, or otherwise get rid of them?”he asked Vē'Êtherñøth.

(So… apparantly, I'm the go to for people to ask to take over their shit. More specifically, Knight has asked me to take over because they are leaving. They'll delete soo, so fair warning. I've been given the rights to all their shit, which I find weird, but whatever… anyways, again, fair warning.)

Deleted user

(Sorry, been a little busy trying to deal with formulating plot twists for this shit+the Death caht and whatnot!)

Vē'Êtherñøth sighs and nods.

"Yes, On'nyosh, I can help." she says, walking over towards him. "What do you need?"

Cass eventually has to stop looking and screams in frustration. "GODS DAMN IT, SPYMASTER! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU AT?"

She then takes a deep breath. It's not his fault…

Vocivus hears the scream and smirks. "This is why I hide myself from the petty mortals in the castle."

Vē'Êtherñøth turns to Marithen.

"No, I have no way of actually tracking other demons and demonoids. It is not possible." she sighs, closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. She then hears Cass scream and looks up.

"Well, we found Cass." she snarks.

Sanguis looks at Tina with some ammount of affection, and chitters hungrily.

"No, I do not require any food right now, thank you." she smiles, content to help her master Awaken. "Feed, Master."

Sanguis bobs its head, then skitters off. A few seconds later, 2 muffled thumps are heard, two short, brutal screams, then the sounds of cracking bone and tearing flesh. It only takes a few more seconds, then Sanguis is back, looking hungrier than ever. It picks Tina up once more, then heads to the next house, where Tina does her thing once more, and Sanguis feeds again. They repeat the process until there are no more people or houses. Sanguis then turns its attention to the food the humans left lying around, and blows through all of it within minutes. It then consumes the buildings themselves and heads off closer to the center of the city, devouring literally everything in its path.

"Damn, we're running out of time here!" Vē'Êtherñøth says, unsettled by the feeling of so many things being destroyed and devoured.

Deleted user

(Yeah… anyways, that's my response. I hope I'm getting Tina's and Sanguis's vibes right here. Not to mention Vocivus.)

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

(That was the same thing running through my mind as I played Tiamat and Geneviera. Hence why I try not to play other people’s characters too often. My brain gets stuck in ‘What do I do?’ mode and I end up doing basically nothing with the characters. But, either way, anyway)

On’nyosh grimaced breifly.

“Alright, so hopefully we’ll only need to get two people. They work together, so it should be fairly simple to get them. The only problem is that they both hate me. But, I know exactly where they’re at, and they’re far south, outside of Ethrin,”he explained.

He then hummed when he heard Cassiel’s scream. She was trying to find Vocivus, a task that On’nyosh had learned long ago was pointless.

At Vē'Êtherñøth‘s warning, he grimaced again. He hoped Quain and Maxar, one a High Priestess to a heathen God of Decay and the other a Master Necromancer, would be able to assist. And if not, then they would be two good offerings to the Baron, and good riddance.

“If these folk you know could help us, get them!”Marithen commented when he overheard On’nyosh.

He sighed at Vē'Êtherñøth‘s words.

“Damn!”Marithen burst, immediately getting lost in thought as he tried to figure out another way to remove the demonoid.

He flinched at the warning.

“Spymaster Vocivus, wherever you are! Do you know anything that could help us? Is there a way to find this demonoid beast and get rid of it?”Marithen called.

Cass sprints back to the throne room, unsucessful in finding Vocivus, who only then decides to pop in, startling Cass, her hair floofing up like a cat's tail, a hiss escaping from her.

Vocivus snorts then turns to Marithen. "I know exactly who this demonoid "beast" is. She isn't a beast, but a cunning individual. She is probably smarter than all of you people combined," he says. "And yes, that includes you, Vē'Êtherñøth."

Vē'Êtherñøth looks indignant. "Oi, I know your secrets, Ženvûís. Don't test me."

Vocicus looks startled, then grins, pulling off his helmet. "Oh no, whatever shall I do? You know my name!"

"Asshole…" Cass and Vē'Êtherñøth say at the same time. They glance at each other and snort.

Vocivus sighs. "And to answer the second question, my Lord, there is, but I shall not say. I would much rather watch and wait."

He disappears in a twirl of fabric.

"Oi- damn it…" Vē'Êtherñøth starts, then sighs. "Whatever."

Sanguis reaches the castle and chitters. It sets Tina down, looks at her and growls, which said very clearly, "Stay."

Tina sighs and nods, summoning some tiny friends of hers and playing with them right there. Meanwhile, Sanguis flees up the stairs leading to the main gates, dispatching all the guards in the way, intent on finding the throne room.

Vē'Êtherñøth looks at the doors, then orders the nearby guards to bar them with the heaviest stuff in the room. 10 grab the throne itself. 5 grab a long table, and even more pile various other dense objects against the doors. When they finish, she orders them to step back and magically locks everything in place using powerful spells of binding, knowing it can't, won't, hold the Baron off for very long.

"The Baron is at the castle already." she says, turning to face everyone.

"FUCK!" Cass screams, and a nearby guard explodes into vapor from the force of it. The other guards lean away subtly.

Vocivus hears all of ths and grins. At last, my Baron has returned…

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

(Fucking Vocivus. I knew something was off about him. Out of curiosity, is he the Baron’s brother? His real name just seems way too similar. Or, is he just some sort of servant?)

On’nyosh noticed Cass run in, chuckling at the sight of her when she hissed at Vocivus. He then turned to glare at the Spymaster. Anger creeped onto his face as Vocivus spoke. If only the bastard had stayed long enough for On’nyosh to run him through.

“He’s working with the Baron, I’ll bet fucking anything! He’s too fucking persistent to be a goddamn coward,”On’nyosh hissed.

“The hell are you saying?”Marithen burst.

“I’m saying, Your Royal Dumbass-ness, that you’re a fucking idiot for choosing some shady fucking wizard as your Spymaster. We’re fucked now, unless we either find a way to stop the Baron right now or run. And I say only those two options because I have little knowledge on magic, and thus any of the magical options,”On’nyosh replied.

Marithen glared, but instead of replying he turned to watch the guards stack things against the doors. It was quite obvious that, even with Vē'Êtherñøth‘s binding spells, the barricade wouldn’t stop the Baron.

At Vē'Êtherñøth‘s announcement, Marithen grew pale. He looked around for some solution to their situation, clearly trying to hide his panic.

On’nyosh flinched at the news, and noticed Cassiel’s reaction and the result. He sighed shakily, his mind whirling.

“Could we manage to magically evacuate the castle, or at least some of the folks in the castle, before that bastard gets through the barricade? Maybe we could also set up some magic decoys or something to distract the Baron, and the shithead Spymaster, while we get out of this fucking cage. And, it would be fucking awesome if we could do that to the entire city, but I know that’s a fuck ton of people to transport,”On’nyosh suggested.

(I figured maybe, possibly, brother. Hard to tell this early. I'm keeping in contact with Silent IRL to figure out where the fuck this was going.)

Ženvûís reappears in the throne room, and grabs On'nyosh.

"I have tolerated you far too long, lizard." he snarls, his form the same as ever, just glowing with power.

In a flash, the throne room disappears, and On'nyosh is hanging over the Abyss, a bottomless hole in the Alyiin Mountains.

"Any last words?"

Cass screams when Ženvûís reappears, and tries to get to On'nyosh. But she is too late. On'nyosh was gone. She summons her rapier and breaks down the barricade herself, a bloody red light surrounding her. She launches herself at Sanguis, who, startled, literally threw Cass back through the door and through the back wall of the throne room. The dust hadn't even settled when an otherwordly screech resounded through the air and she nearly teleported back to Sanguis, becoming a storm of blood and rage. Sanguis, stunned, couldn't even keep up with his daughter, as powerful as she was. It left, warping back to its home, bringing Tina with it.

Vē'Êtherñøth watches as Vocivus left with On'nyosh and tries to follow, but something blocks her from doing so.

"DAMN IT!" she screams, and the rest of the guards vaporize. She sighs, then brings them back to life, apologizing.

"And no-" she gets stopped when Cass turns into a raging storm, and sighs. Of course.

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

(Ah, I see. Vocivus is still a shady fucking bastard, lol)
(Damn! This escalated fast)
(And… incoming escape artist, lol)

On’nyosh immediately glared at Vocivus when he appeared, then grunted in surprise when he was suddenly hanging over a gaping hole in the mountains.

“First off, we must be way fucking north, because I don’t remember this. Secondly, I’ve got three letters. F, C, and K, and all I need now is a bitch called U!”On’nyosh replied, cackling.

He then tapped his heels together and the magic of his boots teleported him back to his room. He flopped onto the floor, reaching over and snatching his blankets and wrapping up. He hadn’t been in the mountains too long, but it was still fucking cold.

After a moment, On’nyosh remembered that his two favorite ladies had something he didn’t. Telepathy.

Oh, ladies, bring some fire and cuddles in here, will you? I just met a black hole in the mountains and I’m goddamn cold and a bit uncomfortable.

Marithen’s eyes widened in shock when he saw Vocivus take On’nyosh, and they widened even more at Cassiel’s reaction. He didn’t even notice that the guards had been disintegrated then revived.

The battle between Cass and the Baron held his attention completely, and when the Baron fled, Marithen looked at Cass with mild horror. There was no way Cass should’ve survived, and yet her attacks, more powerful than Marithen expected, had scared off the Baron. What was she?

Deleted user

(Yeah, he is.)
(Yeah, it really did!)

Vocivus looks surprised. That was unexpected.

Cass is… a bit preoccupied at the moment, On'nyosh. As in, pissed enough to have scared off her father, the Baron. Vē'Êtherñøth replies, following it with a mental sigh and a blink to On'nyosh's room.

"You asked for fire and cuddles?" she says, smirking.

Cass looks pissed still, and goes to follow Sanguis but stops herself. She turns to Marithen, revealing her eyes to now be nearly black, they were such a dark red.

"Where can I find a bigger sword?" she asks, her voice deathly soft and deceptively calm.

Sanguis was nursing its injuries. It chitters to Tina, who walks over and heals all of its wounds, feeding it one of her tiny pets.

"Don't worry, master. Ženvûís will take care of your daughter." she sighs, sitting down next to Sanguis, who doesn't even respond.

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

On’nyosh heard Vē'Êtherñøth‘s mental reply and one thing lingered in his head. Cassiel’s father was the Baron? She was the daughter of that beast?

He then sighed in relief when Vē'Êtherñøth appeared. He loosened his grip on his blankets, chuckling.

“Yeah. I’m fucking cold. Just… don’t pick me up right now. I don’t normally have an issue with heights or movement, but when you’re about to be dropped into a big ass fucking void, you get a little freaked out,”he replied.

Marithen stared at Cass for what seemed like an eternity. Those eyes of hers scared him. He had never in his life seen eyes like hers.

“Th… there’s some in the armory, in… in the training yard,”he answered her, pointing in the general direction of the training yard for the castle’s garrison.

Deleted user

Yes, Sanguis is Cassiels father. I was surprised to learn of this myself.

"Why would I pick you up?" she asks, confused. She climbs into bed and simply wraps her arms around On'nyosh. Simply cuddles him.

Cass nods and is gone in a flash to the armory. She grabs the biggest, sharpest sword and lifts it with one hand. She then sprints back.

"I will guard the entrances." she says simply, her eyes the same color they were before.

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

Sanguis? So, that’s his name. Fuck.

“No idea, just wanted to be sure. Fuck, I’m never going that far north again if I can help it. I was born in a desert, fuck the cold,”On’nyosh replied, ranting a bit as well.

He savored Vē'Êtherñøth‘s hold, grateful to have a warm body against him. Her presence also helped steady his spinning mind, a soothing physical reminder that he was back on solid ground.

Marithen took a deep breath once Cass had gone, but before he could truly relax, she and her frightening eyes were back, now armed with a giant sword. He nodded warily at her words, having no idea what to do.

After a moment, the urge to find Esmeralda hit Marithen and he wandered off. He hoped he could find her quickly and make sure she was safe.
