No matter how hard Milo fought it, he ended up falling asleep on the bed. His hand still holding Hunter's. His chest was still glowing, probably dreaming about Hunter again.
No matter how hard Milo fought it, he ended up falling asleep on the bed. His hand still holding Hunter's. His chest was still glowing, probably dreaming about Hunter again.
Hunter was glad the principal was finally gone, and his gaze and chest softened when he turned his attention back to Milo. At least he wasn’t in so much pain that he could sleep.
“Are you going to make use of yourself or are you going to just sit there and ogle at him?” The nurse asked, and Hunter was about to glare at her until he saw the twinkle of humor in her eye. She held up a can of ointment. “Put that on his bruises, it’ll help them hurt less when he wakes up.”
Hunter quickly took the ointment with a nod, and the nurse left the room probably because she knew Hunter wanted to be alone with Milo, even though the latter was asleep. Hunter gentle tugged off Milo’s shirt, tears almost welling up in his eyes when he saw the damage Chase and Jacob did to Milo. His sweet Milo… Hunter didn’t hesitate to delicately rub in the ointment over each bruise.
After he was done, he tucked the can on a nearby shelf. He waited for the ointment to soak in and dry before laying Milo’s shirt over his chest—he didn’t want to risk waking his love by attempt to put the shirt back on him all the way. Then Hunter got himself comfortable and waited by Milo’s side, stilling holding his hand, until however long it would take for Milo to wake up again.
Maybe 30 minutes later, Milo's eyes slowly lifted. He blinked a little, remembering where he was. Turning his head, he saw Hunter and smiled. "Hey…" He tried to sit up, wincing immediately and shrinking back down. He felt his hand still in Hunter's, he tightened his grip a little.
Hunter was quickly at attention when Milo woke up. “Hey Milo, how are you feeling?” He asked softly, gently giving Milo’s hand a squeeze. He reached up and brushed a little bit of Milo’s hair away from his face too.
"I… I'm not completely sure… I think I'm okay though." He noticed his shirt not completely on. "What's going on with this?" He asked referring to the shirt.
“Oh, I was helping put ointment on your bruises,” Hunter gestured at the can sitting on the shelves, “And I didn’t want to wake you in attempt to put it back on,” He let out a light laugh, offering a smile to Milo as he added with a glint of humor in his eyes, “If you want to make it even, I certainly don’t mind taking my shirt off for you.”
Milo smiled, a slight smirk mixed with it. "I wouldn't mind at all either… but right now might not be the best time." Again, Milo tried to sit up, this time careful of his bruises. He succeeded and turned to Hunter.
Hunter let out a chuckle, and upon noticing Milo trying to sit again he snatched another pillow from a different bed and positioned them so if Milo wanted to laying back down he could still sit up a little. “You should rest more. I could even take you to my house if you wanted to lay down in a real bed.”
"Yeah, I should… do you think the school would be okay with us leaving?" Milo pulled Hunter's hand a little so he could give him a hug from the bed. He had gotten slightly more used to the constant pain in his chest, but he could help but wince every time he moved it.
Hunter smiled a bit, quickly wrapping his arms around Milo. “I doubt they’d be okay with it, but I don’t think they expect you to go to your classes either.” Hunter laughed a bit more, “Besides, I’ve skipped before, it’s nothing new for me. They’ll probably just give me another detention, but I don’t they’d give you anything because of what happened, I mean it’s kinda expected that you would go home.”
Milo leaned his head on Hunter's chest. "I've never skipped before, but it's pretty tempting right now." He closed his eyes, only to open them quickly after, he didn't want to fall asleep yet. "Let's go…" He said quietly into Hunter's chest.
Hunter smiled, quickly kissing Milo’s forehead before gently scooping him into his arms. He quietly walked to the doorway, peeking out to see if anyone was there. The secretary was out, but after a moment she got a phone call and answered it. “You ready?” Hunter whispered, knowing they only have a few moment to not get caught in the act. Being honest though, even they were caught, he could always just run to his car and leave anyways.
"I mean, I don't have to do much, but I was born ready," Milo responded with a silly smile. He held onto Hunter tightly in case he needed to run. This was going to officially the first time in his whole entire education that he skipped school.
Hunter smiled, holding in his laugh in order to not alert the secretary. As she was on the phone, she turned in her swivel chair and started digging through some files. Hunter took the opportunity, trying to be as quiet as possible as he darted out of the main office and out towards the closest exit. He was grateful to not hear any shouts of surprise behind them by the time he got outside and was heading for his car. “That went much better than expected.”
Milo let out a breath, then he started laughing a bit. "You know, why are we leaving the school like we are trying to escape a top security prison or something!" He was still laughing at his comment. Yes it hurt, but he could really stop himself.
“Because it practically is, you know,” Hunter replied, humor glinting in his eyes, “There are cameras everywhere and wardens like Mrs. Rossel,” Hunter couldn’t contain his smile even as they approached his truck.
"Oh, it definitely is." Milo had a large smile all over his face. Getting into the tuck, he leaned back on the seat with a sigh, looking at Hunter as he got in.
Hunter smiled, going around the truck and getting in the driver’s seat. “You comfy?” He asked as he started the car. He hoped Carl or Wendy didn’t come home for lunch today, so they could have the house to themselves.
Milo scooted closer to Hunter and lied his head on his shoulder. "I am now." He closed his eyes and let out a small breath. He was already tired again and he was close to falling asleep.
Hunter smiled, turning his head and kissing the top of Milo’s before putting the car into gear and driving off the school parking lot. “I love you,” He murmured softly, as he drove towards his house.
"I love you more…" Milo whispered as he was drifting into sleep again. He wasn't normally this tired, he usually had a lot of energy. But if he hadn't been in this situation he would be sitting in class missing Hunter, so there was some good to this.
It wasn’t too long before he pulled up in his driveway. He smiled at Milo, and upon noticing how he had fallen asleep he gently unclicked both of their seatbelts. Hunter slowly and gently picked up his soulmate and carried him inside, only having a bit of trouble when he needed to unlock the door but he managed to get in anyways.
Milo was out. He was could sleep through any amount of alarms and be unfazed by it.
Hunter carried Milo to his room -it was a bit of a mess, it still had his clothes from yesterday laying on the floor- and set Milo down on his bed, flipping a couple sheets over him in case he got cold. He smiled a little, going to the bathroom and grabbed some pain medicine and a cup of water and setting it on the nightstand for when Milo woke up. Then of course, Hunter couldn’t help himself, he got in the bed too and wrapped his arms protectively around Milo and spooned him.
In his sleep, Milo leaned into Hunter more comfortable. About an hour or two later, his eyes slowly opened. He glanced around the room thinking it must be Hunter's. He felt Hunter around him and smiled. He shifted a bit, forgetting about his injuries then wincing and abandoning his plan staying in place.
