"Yeah, whatever." Colton grumbled, clearly annoyed that he had to put his cigarette out for her.

Paige took her binder in her arms, stood up, and walked away from the ledge. "Go ahead," she called behind her. "I don't care." She walked for a bit until she found a nice place to sit. "I left my backpack!" she groaned. Oh well. She wasn't going back.
Colton chuckled, "Well, if you really want it you can walk yourself back 'cause I'm not leavin'."
Paige rested her face in her hands. You only make things worse.
(Gtg for tonight, bye!)
Colton sighed, running a hand through his messy black hair with a sigh. Maybe bringing her here was a bad idea…
(bye!)
She lifted her face, took her phone out of her pocket, and plugged in her earbuds. She hit shuffle on her library and Criminal by Brittany Spears began to play. Of course.
Colton took the moments while she was working to just think. About everything and never focusing on one thing. He lit another cigarette at some point.
The song ended and Paige got up and walked back over. She could smell the new cigarette burning and did her best to hold her breath. "Um… Colton? I'm really sorry," she apologized sincerely.
Colton frowned at her, "What the hell are you sorry for?"
"That you had to put out your-" she inhaled and gagged in the back of her throat, but swallowed it quickly so he wouldn't notice- "cigarette."
Colton shrugged, "It's fine, don't worry." He took one last hit of his cigarette before stomping it out.
Smoke from it flew into her face. She tried not to breathe it in and instead focused on putting her binder into her backpack.
Colton stood up and stretched, his muscles clearly defined in his too small shirt but he didn't care, "Ready to go?"
"Where are we going?" Paige responded, zipping her backpack up.
Colton shrugged, "I feel like I should get you back to school."
"What about you?" Paige asked, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
“I have…” Colton’s jaw clenched, “Doesn’t matter…”
Paige recoiled slightly. She had to choose her next words carefully. "Well… since I already left… what's the point in going back…?"
Colton raised an eyebrow, “I thought you were supposed to be a goody two shoes?”
"Not a goody two shoes. Just…" She couldn't come up with a word. "Curious, I guess." She didn't make eye contact.
“Curious about what, exactly?” Colton smirked and took a step closer to her.
"I don't know," she replied quietly, looking at her shoes. "People like you, I guess."
Colton sighed, "Listen, Paige, you stay away from people like me. You're lucky I've been so nice so far but others… they're not. So keep away."
"Why are you being so nice to me?" she asked, looking up.
