Colton shushed her softly, whispering comforting words to help her calm down a little. He wished he could let his emotions out like her.
Colton shushed her softly, whispering comforting words to help her calm down a little. He wished he could let his emotions out like her.
Paige wished she could keep her emotions inside, like him. When she was finished, she shifted to breathing heavily and quietly.
“You’re gonna be okay, I’m here whenever you need me.” He whispered, pressing a very light kiss to her head before he began to hum softly.
She closed her eyes and curled into him. She couldn't find words, so she hoped that what she wanted to say, he understood by her movements.
Colton cracked a small smile. He tightened his grip on her protectively, resting his chin on her head.
"Why are you so worried about me?" she asked softly. Her voice sounded a little strange from all the crying.
Colton was silent for a while, “Because… you’re different. You’re not like the other girls out there and I know it’s cliche but it’s true. You make me want to change to be a better person and I don’t want to see a bright star in pain.”
Paige slowly adjusted her head so she could look at him. "No one has… ever said anything like that to me before," she murmured.
He raised an eyebrow, “Really? That’s stupid because you deserve to hear all of that.”
She blushed. "I'm not that special…"
“Do you dare say or think like that,” He said firmly, “You are very special, Paige.”
"Give me one good reason," she replied. Just give me a reason, just a little bit's enough… She'd been listening to too much P!NK…
“You make me feel like my life isn’t worthless, that I can get through my parents crap and be better. You are wonderful and smart and kind to everyone and so, so strong.” Colton ran a hand through her hair.
She broke again. Tears streamed down her cheeks, but they weren't tears of sadness anymore.
Colton shushed her softly again, “Hey, why are you crying now?”
"I never knew… how much… I needed to hear that… until now," she answered through hiccups.
“Well if you ever need to hear them again, just tell me.” Colton said softly.
She nodded slowly. "Okay." A thought hit her. "Shouldn't you be in class?" she asked quietly.
Colton chuckled, “School’s over silly, you’ve been here all day.”
"It's over?" she asked, blinking quickly.
Colton nodded, “Yeah, the days over.”
"My brother will be worried about me," she murmured slowly, thinking aloud.
“Do you want to go to him then?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, he should be waiting for me," she admitted.
Colton nodded, picking her up as he stood before setting her down, “Need a ride home?”
